"I am sage" he replied to the she-cat, she seemed to be a really nice cat but he couldn't trust anyone "I am a loner, I guess from your name that you come from the clan?" he then asked the she cat starting to calm down again

"Yah I'm from the clan but I also want to be a loner right now. So, what's it like to be a loner anyways Sage?" Puffinpaw meowed back before she laid down and glanced at the male cat. He seemed like a nice guy but she took after her father, that ment it took a while before she could trust a cat. She had the same disorder as he did, still having kitten fur. All Puffinpaw hoped was that Sage wouldn't make fun of her because she didn't even have any signs of her adult fur coming in hence making her look like an oversized three moon old kit.

"Well at the moment it is, lonley" he meowed "You see my family just disapeared before we were always together I dont really know what to do now that I am all alone" he continued hoping this she-cat wouldn't judge him for his childish acting it maybe seemed like he was in need of his family to her but he really didn't care what it seemed like "Why would you like to be a loner isn't it way better in the clan where you have cats to talk with" he added

"Not for me. My father seems to not care about me anymore because, he's very determined these days into becoming the medicine cat and they can't have kits or a mate. My mother.... I-I don't even know if she's alive still. She fell sick when she had me and my siblings and I don't even know her condition. I don't see her around anymore so I assume she's dead. Back at camp, it seems as no one cares about me really." Puffinpaw sighed, blue eyes filled with grief and anger.

"Seems like we are in a simular situation here then" Sage replied giving a light smile getting out of the bush "My mother saved me from the fire I dont know if she survived and my father went and got a new mate and never talked to me and my brother anymore, I have no idea where my brother is but it felt like he always looked down on me" he meowed looking down at the ground when he realised what an horrible family he had had

"Well at least you don't look like a three moon old kit. My father passed down his odd fur condition to me and now.... I get made fun of just like how he did. At least I don't have his small size." She sighed padding out from the bush. Puffinpaw was happy he decided to come out and he was a bit more happier.

"You get made fun of for your fur?" Sage questioned "I think that fur looks great on you" he meowed with a smile. He really ment it he hadn't even thought about it until she had brought it up, he thought it looked really great though "My fur is super short and thin so I am kind of jealous, I get cold so easily" he added

"Well I look like a kit. I still have all my kitten fur on and it's not going away anytime soon." She meowed. The apprentice despite her attitude was grateful the male even complemented her. A smile grew on her face before she replied, "But think of it this way, at least you still can generate heat. Here's a tip for the cold, don't try to shiver much because that only makes your body heat go away faster."

"Oh I didn't know that thanks" he meowed happily to the she-cat getting more comfortable with her being there "You could use looking like a kitten to your advantage you know, atleast it is a good thing to have when you are a loner" he suggested to the gray cat

"Not really. Since I don't have the hight defect, if I try to act one cats would think I'm crazy." Puffinpaw meowed back. She knew the faults about her one defect. She would be happier if she had none or both but, that wasn't the case.
