Feeling someone wake him up, the black tom jolted awake. Had he overslept? "Oh starclan no! Don't wake me up!" Ravenpaw snapped, shaking moss from his shaggy dark pelt. Flicking his ears to his mentor aspenfang, he offered a small inaudible grumble in greeting to her. "I'm up." The grumpy tom sighed.

Wolfpaw stumbled back, landing on his rump. “Hey! Chill out, we have to go on dawn patrol!” He stumbled to his feet, sticking his tongue out. “Cmon.” He huffed, getting to his paws and marching out of the den, past Aspenfang, back to his mentor.

Hazelfeather stretched, yawned, and then proceeded to walk out of the den. The morning wasn't super sunny and clouds still drifted above her, but she felt happy as always. The young warrior hopped out and took a wide eyed look at her clan. There were cats getting up for patrols, grumpy apprentices, and of course Cranekit bouncing around, looking to help Willowrain. She felt today would be good, but then again that is how she always felt. Her Clan was perfect and she was sure StarClan would make sure nothing bad ever happened!

Hazelfeather walked over to Avocetwhisker who was standing in the clearing. "Hi Avocetwhisker! Its going to be a great day today! I mean the weather is kind of drab, but I have a feeling it will be great!" She smiled brightly at him with her tail twitching. The young molly felt she could never be still!

He nodded to Aspenfang. "Thanks, Aspen." He replied politely, sensing how irritated the warrior was and wanting nothing more than to get out of her fur before she snapped. He got up, stretching his legs and paying no attention to the two warriors that walked past him, instead beginning to make his way over to his mentor, Avocetwhisker, instead. Surely speaking to his mentor would be easy, after all he'd been training Beepaw since he was promoted to an apprentice. Right?

Yeah, no, apparently it wasn't that easy. Once he had seen that Hazelfeather had walked over to him, he paused and hesitated, rather worried about interrupting their conversation. After all, his mother had raised him with good manners not to interrupt warriors while they're talking unless it's an emergency. Still, he padded over to the two and sat a few tail-lengths away from them. "U-Uhm... When you're finished with your conversation, I need to ask Avocetwhisker something, i-if you don't mind." He was very timid when speaking, but polite in his tone.

It seemed that Ravenpaw had been awoken in much the same manner that Aspenfang had. However, what she really cared about was that he was awake at all.
"Good", she greeted her apprentice.
Wolfpaw had beat her to passing on the morning's plans, so Aspenfang just stood and turned her back on the apprentices' den, searching for Juniperpounce so that she could join the patrol. She was momentarily distracted by Beepaw's brief acknowledgement of her directions, and felt the fur at the back of her neck bristle at being called "Aspen". That was far too familiar a way of referring to her, coming from Beepaw, and she took offense to it. Fortunately for Beepaw, he had already made himself scarce and Aspenfang had better things to do than hunt him down.
With that, she finally spotted Juniperpounce sitting at the camp entrance and nodded in her direction while making eye contact with Ravenpaw.
"Let's go."
She stood and began to make her way across camp, expecting Ravenpaw to follow, all while ignoring the various conversations that were starting up as the rest of the clan awoke and went about their usual dawn greetings to one another.

Ravenpaw shook away his bitterness about being woken up and followed his mentor across the camp. He ignored Wolfpaw, it was too early to bother talking to others. He wanted nothing to do with the dawn patrol, although he knew why it was important of course. Brow furrowed, he wordlessly followed behind Aspenfang. If there was one thing he liked about his mentor was that she wasn't as talkative as the rest of the clan. Aspenfang really knew how to get things done.

Seeing as the rest of the patrol arrived, the she-cat stood up, her tail gently swishing behind her, "Now that we're all here, we'll just be taking a quick hunting patrol to the Tallpines." Juniperpounce explained, looking over the camp one more time before turning to leave. She flicked her tail, gesturing for the others to follow as she glanced behind herself one last time, unable to shake the feeling that something was missing from the camp.

Wolfpaw rolled his eyes as the other two cats joined him and Juniperpounce. Were they always so grumpy? He couldn’t say much about Aspenfang, but he’d noticed Beepaw was also quick to jump out of their way. As for Ravenpaw, if he hadn’t wanted to be woken up, he should have gotten up on his own. It was part of being a warrior, being responsible for yourself. It wasn’t his fault Ravenpaw was grumpy he had duties to do. He shook his head, turning his attention to Juniperpounce, then got up to follow her out of camp.

Aspenfang felt a sense of satisfaction upon learning Juniperpounce's intentions for the patrol to focus on hunting. A promise of fresh breakfast and an opportunity to turn her frustrations onto some mice were only the first good reasons to appreciate a hunting trip. She blinked her acknowledgement of Juniperpounce's instructions and fell in behind her to begin the short journey to the tallpines.
