Jaypaw tilted his head in thought "Hmm trees!" he meowed.

Lay with her paws carefully tucked under her and looking around at the cats in camp with a cheerful smile.

Raggedpaw nodded, raising his head, his eyes sill closed. At first, when he heard a rustle he slightly twitched, getting ready to jump, suddenly he heard the high-pitched noise Razorheart was talking about, so he stayed put.

[Waspsting]

Reedstar nodded. "Sounds good." She walked a while longer, until they had reached a sturdy-looking alder. "There are two ways to climb- you can hook your claws into the trunk and actually climb, or you can jump from branch to branch. Trunk-climbing takes a lot of practice and strength, so for now we're going to stick with branch-jumping. I'll demonstrate." She crouched down and tensed her muscles, staring intently at a branch that was one or two tail lengths above their heads. Then she jumped, pushing hard with hind legs, and landed neatly on the branch, digging her claws in to keep from falling off. "Care to try?"

Razorheart nodded, a glimmer of pride in his eyes. "Good. Keep listening."

Raggedpaw sighed and twitched his ears, listening to the reeds. "All i hear is wind.." He muttered, disappointment in his voice, what if he doesn't find any prey?

[Waspsting]

Razorheart gave him a sympathetic look. "It can be hard at first." He paused, thinking. "Tell you what. Keep trying, if you don't find anything, we'll head back to camp and try again another time."

Jaypaw nodded his bright blue-green eyes shining with determination as he mimicked her actions and launched himself at it landing clumsily on it and swayed uneasily loosing his balance.

[Waspsting]

Realizing he might fall off, Reedstar darted out and grabbed his scruff, hauling him the rest of the way onto the branch. "Hook your claws in as you land to keep that from happening in the future," She advised him, her voice shaking slightly. "You gave me quite a scare!"

He nodded taking in everything she said and trying to remember it. Jaypaw wanted to be the best warrior possible, "Okay" he replied "and I'm sorry for scaring you" he added looking over at his mentor he smiled eagerly "So what next?"

[Waspsting]

"Well, now that you've learned to jump up," Reedstar told him, "It's time for you to learn to jump down. Specifically, to jump down onto an enemy. Don't jump when they're right below you, jump when they're one or two steps away from being right below you. Otherwise, you'll miss. Just like jumping up, you want to dig you claws in as soon as you land."

Raggedpaw nodded "How will i know when i'm listening to prey move? And where is it coming from?" He asked, opening one of his eyes.
