Sablefur twitched her ears, listening for the scratching of squirrels' claws. She crouched down, zeroing in on one finally, a nice, plump squirrel. She let her mind go blank, forgetting about her dream and focusing on the prey. She crept up on it, and then, when she was no farther away that a mouse-length, a small twig snapped under her paws. The squirrel looked up, then started up a tree. Taking her chance, she crouched down on her haunches and leaped at the furry creature. Catching its tail, she yanked it down, then killed it quickly with a bite to the neck.

Goldenpaw raised her nose, drinking in the scents. She locked onto one, a mouse not too far away. She slipped silently into a crouching position, waving her tail back and forth slowly as she crept forward. She was only a few tail-lengths away when she slipped. She took a step, and the mouse looked up with a seed in its paws, startled. Goldenpaw leaped after it, but it quickly scurried into a bunch of knotted roots out of sight. "Mouse-dung," she hissed under her breath.

Robinstar

Robinstar watched for a moment as Sablefur and Goldenpaw began to hunt nearby, then began his own search for prey. He headed a half dozen fox lengths away from the other two, and spotted a mouse. It was sitting next to a tall root, munching on some sort of seed, completely unaware of him, and the fact that it could only run in one direction. He crept up closer to it, making sure he was downwind, and pounced. His body arced through the air with a practiced ease and he landed right on top of it, killing it with a quick bite to the neck. He carried his kill back to where the others were keeping theirs, and started to bury it.

Just then Stringfur reappeared. He was carrying a vole, and he dropped it with Robinstar's mouse. "Eveningstar would like to speak to you. She says that the rest of us can come too, since she has a patrol with her as well." He reported, his eyes showing worry, but not fear.

"Alright, Goldenpaw, could you take our prey back to the camp by yourself?" He asked for two reasons. First of all, he didn't want to bring prey right up to where a Sunclan patrol was waiting. It would be rude to do, especially since it didn't sound like the Sunclan patrol had any with them, as well as the fact that having prey could prompt them to take it even if they hadn't planned on it. Secondly, if this were to become a fight, he didn't want an apprentice to be injured. He waited a moment, then decided that it would be good to have some backup incase it did turn into a fight, even if there was a risk of Goldenpaw being injured. "When you get back to camp, could you bring another warrior or two back here with you?" He would wait for Goldenpaw's response before following Stringfur to the patrol, he wanted to make sure he would get the backup he needed.

Cloudkit could barely keep in a squeal of delight as she realized what was going on. If she was really quiet, she was going to meet cats from SunClan. SunClan! Her siblings would be so jealous of her when she returned back to brag all about her trip. Almost silently, the little white kit followed Stringfur and Robinstar in the bushes. She was sure she was going to make it when a twig snapped under her foot. Immediately, she retreated behind a nearby tree and held her breath. Please don't let them see me, she prayed quickly to StarClan, even though it was kind of stupid for her to.

A thought blocked his brain from thinking about the prophecy. He had to give a strengthening herb to Cloudkit. He started padding for her, but then bumped into the wall of the den. Amused with himself, he again padded towards the nursery. He swung his head around in search of her. Where was she? Starlingpaw sniffed her nest. A track leaded outside. He sighed, then nosed his way out of the den. He sniffed her tracks, having the herb stuck in his jaws.

Goldenpaw's tail curled from side to side anxiously. "Yes, of course!" she meowed, her ears erect. She picked up the squirrel, vole, and mouse with some difficulty, then pelted off to camp, looking back once. She stopped for a moment, watching Robinstar, Sablefur, and Stringfur walk off, and her paws pricked with anticipation. She might actually be in her first fight! She knew she shouldn't be so excited, but she couldn't help it. She dropped the fresh-kill on the pile, then ran over to Swiftpelt and Petalfur, who were sharing tongues.

Sablefur's fur bristled again. What could Eveningstar want to talk to Robinstar about? Her tail tip twitched from side to side frustratedly. "This is probably about the borders," she growled. "Don't those mouse-brains understand that we need the river crossing?" She forced her fur to lie flat, trying to calm herself. She twitched her ear aggrivatedly. "It's our territory now!" Then she remembered, with a jolt, her dream. Could it be a warning?

Starlingpaw padded towards the scent. He sniffed the air, sometimes, checking the air for her. Where was she? Panic filled surged through his heart when he caught a whiff of an animal scent. He didn't know what animal it was. He sighed when he realized it was just a throng of hares staring up to him. Starlingpaw bit into one's neck and killed it. A fat one. But where was Cloudkit? He dug a hole and put the rabbit in it, and covered it with dirt. He began searching for her again, his tail curling in terror.
