“Hope

Tertullian
Nada returns Legacy's smile, immediately taking a liking to the ivory fea and feeling a bit of her old self bubbling up in her with the happiness of finding another. Ah, it feels so good to talk to another wolf again! I hadn't realized how lonely I had been... There is no doubt that the loss of her family and the ensuing solitude has changed her, but it is still good to know that there is still something of that loving pup left in her. Thus, it is with no small amount of sarcasm in her voice when she replies. "Ah I see. So you're planning to save all the important stuff for later then?" Chuckling a bit at her own joke, she is about to continue when the sound of heavy paws reaches her ears and she looks up with surprise when a warning growl sounds from nearby.

Ears erect, she quickly glances to Legacy for assurance when the large grey male appears through the trees. It is rather startling for her to realize just how close he was before she detected his presence, as her mind still clings to the land of her youth, where one could see for miles unobstructed. Upon seeing Legacy's greeting and noting that he is a member of the pack she immediately relaxes a little, dipping her head to the sub-alpha. "Greetings, Periculum. Pleased to meet you." So there is a pack. Guess it wasn't so very long of a wait at all to find out if there were more than just the siblings. Her words are simple, but respectful. Though it is obvious that she is still excited to meet them both, as her tail begins to wag just the slightest bit as she speaks.

Nada lifts her head a bit to get a better look at Periculum, not looking one of his rank in the eye for fear of it being taken as aggressive, but rather focusing somewhere around mid chest and taking in his commanding presence. If this is sub-alpha... I can't imagine the stature of Legacy's brother! Perhaps the wolves here are like their plants, and grow much larger than I'm used to... Still processing his scent, she hadn't noticed Verity's approach at all and is thus a bit surprised when Legacy calls out to her. Nada looks up to Legacy, then back out into the forest, looking for the wolf she addresses.

Belial
_______________________________________________________
✗ Unleash the вeaѕт inside ✗
_______________________________________________________

Belial was hungry, which wasn’t a big surprise. Sniffing, he felt his stomach turn at the idea that there was no prey. Ears sagging, he continued to walk absent mindedly through an area of forest. There didn’t seem to be all that much, there was well - nothing. Had he eaten it all? No, even if he ate a lot, he couldn’t have eaten all the prey. Right? No someone must be stealing his food! The mutts, he would make sure that who ever had been stealing his prey was caught and dealt with as soon as it could be. He was far from an aggressive wolf by nature, but when his food was in stake, well then he made sure that he put in a little bit more effort. “Now, if I were a food stealer, where would I be..” He growled, as thoughts rambled through his mind. Was it the pack? Where they the ones stealing his food?

“No, it can’t be them,” he shook the thought from his mind, and yet it sppn returned. The pack had to feed a lot of wolves, and they were close by, if the prey stumbled closer by they would have made sure that they would have hunted it. “Oh, they’re going to pay for what they’ve done.” The fur on his back began to bristle, and his eyes were narrowed harshly. “No one steals food from Belial and gets away with it!” He snorted, as he lifted his head up, trying to give a look of dignity, even if he was the only one around. “But what will I do, oh, the thought of them makes me sick, but, but-“ His words tumbled, as his eyes flicked. “They could kill me, they’d rip me to shreds, I can’t fight! Oh no, no, I can’t! So what can I do, what will I do..” His voice was almost like wire now. Tipping the point of insanity.

Had anyone been close enough to hear him speak, they probably would have thought that he was a wolf gone mad, though in all honesty, that was closer to the truth than you would have though. “I don’t want to be just fur, and bones. No, no, no... But I’ll get hungry with no food, and die of starvation! Why, oh why does life have to be so horrible.” He flicked his head and his ears. He lowered his head for a second, and then narrowed his eyes. “Well then, I guess I’m going to have to go and take a chance, and give ‘em a piece of my mind!” And with that, the slightly psychotic wolf headed off in the direction of the pack’s territory.

Pride

"I am the origin of all that is evil in this world but it is you who invites me into your soul
and only you are to blame for your partake of the seven sins." ~ Pride

Hubris

__________________________________________________________

Hubris padded slowly in the woods. The other sins had dispersed as he tried his best to get rid of the annoying ringing in his ears. His master's calls for him to do as he bid were about to drive him crazy, why could he not covet the freedom that these other creatures had? Was this a weakness that his master despised? His pride would not allow him to admit anything as a feeling entered his soul. It held a calm air to it that soothed the rage of others...he hated the feeling worse then the insistent ringing in his ears "Has hoped entered this place?" Was that why his master was bothering him so much? Hope was a very fleeting thing that could spur wars and end generations of suffering while also having the effect of keeping those on the brink of death, alive. Hubris growled as his claws dug into the ground beneath him and his obsidian black pelt bristled, for some reason he knew that he hated hope, as to why, there was no real instigator. He felt the urge to kill her while also wanting to meet her. His master's calls for her death were quick and nonnegotiable but Hubris had so many ideals coming into his head. The fact of being released of chains that bound him to his sin and the inevitable claim it had over him. maybe this creature of hope could offer what others could not? Hubris turned in the direction of where the entity was and kept a steady pace while releasing one single howl that echoed and reverberated as many. It called for her, to meet her as well as on offering to kill her. He wanted both and some part of him also wanted to see which side of him would take over the other. His ideals, or his duty to his master's calls and his own sin.

Eden

"If we do not learn to forgive ourselves and accept our sins as apart of who we are
then our very being will be swallowed by the sins we commit." ~ Eden

Eden

__________________________________________________________

Eden ran through the woods as she heard a pristine howl piercing the sky around her. That quick fleeting sound made her heart jump for a second and fill with a feeling of joy and hope. It was fleeting however and soon all her worries and sins came baring down upon her like before "That was not a howl from my pack...maybe a newcomer has made her way into our territory?" Eden did not know but she padded towards the sound to see who had made a call for another of her kind. She stopped dead cold though when she heard a very familiar howl that filled her with dread and killed all hope in her heart. Hubris' howl rang out as many into one as he called for the one who howled before. It was filled with a call for blood but held a longing to see another "What does he want?" her voice quivered as she whispered what the sin could possible want with this new wolf, Eden did not stay to ponder for long as she made her way to the others and the scent of a new wolf in the area.

[Posting here. Wip.]
~~.:.Arro.:.~~

-With everyone in this world, am I just another or something of worth?-

The noon was a soft as she could make it to be with her light fluttering steps that touched the ground. It was a soft noon day for her, and already she could make out simple yet easy to stop bird that seemed to be using the small brezzes of noon air for there advantage above her black head. A few looked down or dove down towards the ground to disspear behide branches of trees, but they would return back to there flight as if never gone and it was truely a sight to watch them fly. Heading close into the middle of the pack she stopped on her paws with a light thump to view her surrounds with her hard orange like glare which to her made sure she would not miss key attacks that might appear nearby.Nothing so far, she told herself as she walked on for a few moments to enjoy the soft brezze that seemed the flutter her coat like a brush.
I guess it was for you only.....
Then as if stopped by a sudden force she halted again to see a bit of some shadows ahead, and even to some voices came into her ears as they flicked fastly towards the voices. Hushed to her they where muffled by bushes, and a bit of space between each other so she could not make out words spoken by the wolves ahead but she tryed hard to catch even a word. A few minutes pasted with still nothing about the wolves or even a sign she was heading towards the pack center, but she made note to follow the wolves she seen if she didn't find it up ahead. Or course that ment passing the wolves with stealth and quickness she must have to get away form a sight or a nose sniff. With a lower of her ears as she looked at the task her body bent low to the ground so that she coudl sneak past, and the moment she did the grass tickled her belly as if a tail touched, and it was hard to keep for holding in a laugh of the tickle of the blades of grass. She moved onward with her lips shut tight to the extreme to avoid a break of a laugh, but so far she was almost half way past the wolves who chatted nearby.

"Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; — vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow — sorrow for the lost Lenore —
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore —
Nameless here for evermore.
______________________________________________________
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore —
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore.'
"
— Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven
Periculum

The Sub-Alpha studied the loner fae with mild interest but also a fleeting wariness. He didn't believe there was a Sin of deception, as most of the Sin unleashed onto their world could pass any test with a mere blink of an eye. They were all demons, and as such has the same.. feel to them. This wolf, however different had a similar feel. It was it's presence alone, that put him on edge and calmed him all the same. A dying ember suddenly saved, but just enough that it burned again. His allowed his bicolor eyes to drift over her, catching both her greeting and too Legacy's explanation as he did so. The brute allowed his head to turn and settle on the form of Verity, eyes meeting hers for an instant before traveling back to Nada's. He didn't mind another wolf meeting his gaze, as long as they were not a threat.

"It seems word of your presence will travel like fires during the dry season. As you have come far, you must be wary after such a journey." The hellion said after a moment. He offered her a half-smile, a welcoming jester. "Ransom, our Alpha, would surely welcome you as one of our own. Your heart is strong, and your will is stronger." With that out and drifting around his present packmates, he turned to Legacy. "Take her to your brother. I'm sure he'll want to pass acceptance over our newcomer." Periculum turned his form back toward from which he had came, satisfied that everything was fine.. at the moment, at the very least.

Fairwell Chickensmoothie! It was a good run.

If there is anyone who I unfortunately left any loose ends open with when I originally disappeared from the site near the end of 2012, you're welcome to drop a PM if you'd like to try to resolve them. It has admittedly been far too many years for me to remember precisely what all may have been left unsettled.

In addition, if anyone sees this and would like to try to reestablish contact, you're more than welcome to drop me a message as well. I'll try to poke my head in over the next few months at the least in case any of the above happens, but cannot guarantee how often messages will be checked after that.

Best Regards,
HOWLING

Contrary to what his rank might imply, Canaan is not scrawny or lame. In fact, upon first glance he appears to be a very strong member of the pack. His has a broad bulky frame with a mottled silver and smoke coat and a wide forehead. He is a large canine, standing almost 32 inches at the shoulder. He is built like any other wolf, large jowls, big paws and thick bushy tail. He walks with a swagger, a demeanor that betrays his rank of omega. That being said, he does not really think himself above his rank (see personality for an explanation) He submits to his leaders, but can be stubborn and hard to handle. He is a cunning hunter, with an extended gait that is prime for the chase. His appearance alone is cause for intimidation, especially when he is locked in a hunter's crouch. His amber irises are always wild, a portal to what is going on in his mind.

P e r s o n a l i t y

So why is a big, strong wolf in the lowest rank of the pack? Sure, Canaan appears to be a brute, but he is far from it. But he has a fatal flaw. Insanity, paranoia, and post traumatic stress disorder, a deadly combination of diseases that plague him.

In camp, he is usually found sitting in a patch of sun, soaking up the rays like any normal canine. Listen close enough, and you may hear him talking to himself. Camp is the only place where Canaan feels remotely safe from outside attacks, he can be reasoned with and talked to almost like a normal wolf, aside from his subconscious making a few comments here and there. At night, he is often seen pacing restlessly around the perimeter, stricken with insomnia and the fear of a nighttime ambush. During this time he can be irritable, and if surprised, he can be hostile, even to his own packmates. He devises incredible plans of defense for the pack, part of the reason he hasn't been kicked out yet. He is loyal, willing to assist with any in-camp problems, and is especially good with pups, though most mothers won't oblige him due to his track record with violence.

Outside of camp is where the real problems lie. Open spaces put him on the defense, and a defensive Canaan is a hostile Canaan. He is constantly convinced he is being watched or stalked, or begins to think his packmates are leading him into a trap. He starts to see shadowy forms that aren't really there, or hears growling of invisible wolves coming from every corner. At first, hunting patrols seemed to be okay until one morning when he started chasing a deer with a partner. After the deer was bitten by said partner, instead of attacking the deer, he attacked the other wolf. Outside of camp he can turn on anyone, and if he's being calm, it should be cause for worry. He can be violent, and if he isn't violent he's being pessimistic, stubborn and snappy.

Basically, Canaan is the definition of hostile insanity.

I sit here locked inside my head
Remembering everything you said
The silence gets us nowhere
Gets us nowhere way too fast

- this is Canaan's subconscious (spoken aloud) -
- this is Canaan -
- this is Canaan's hallucinations -

ooc// that's okay, I'll stick with Canaan for now. :]

The winds hissed through the trees as Canaan's eyes fluttered open. His brain began to churn, running through the possible scenarios that could have happened to the camp as he took his mid-morning nap. Once dawn broke he could finally leave the camp under the watch of his packmates as they rose, getting a few hours of shuteye for himself before continuing the day's duties. It appeared the spies from the rival camp had left during his slumber, probably driven out by Luna or Ransom.
"Tricksters they were. Confounding little cheats. They thought they could get past us!"
He cracked a devilish grin, sitting up to scratch his ears. "We spotted them, as usual. You'd think they would know to stay away from us by now." He chortled.
    "You'd think."

He released a yawn, stretching his stiff body in the afternoon light. He could hear the murmurings of the wolves outside of camp, but shook them off as they did not sound hostile. As usual, camp was pretty much empty. He sometimes felt chained to it, but then he would remember that only bad things lurked in the misty shadows of the forest, Every spring of lichen held a pair of yellow eyes, waiting to devour him as easily as he might snap up a rabbit. Easy prey. Of course, he was smarter than the other wolves of his pack, though he would never tell them that to their face. After all, it was not the Omega's place to do so. Yet was it also not the Omega's place to be the sole protection of his home? The other wolves blatantly ignored the spies as the wandered into camp the night before, not even casting them so much as a second glance as they introduced themselves. It was he, Canaan, who approached them. It was he who threatened them, and he who thwarted their ambush as he patrolled the perimeter through the night. Only when he slept did the others see. perhaps they were afraid of him, afraid to step into his role and drive out the hostiles.
    "You're right. They are afraid."
    "I knew it."
"Even the Alphas fear you, that's why you're an Omega."
"But they value me. I keep them safe."
"Yes. You are valuable to them, but you still make them fearful."
"I suppose that is a good thing."

He trotted over to the leftovers pile, the remains of the last kill left out to rot. He had grown used to the taste of carrion, he was not spoiled with fresh meat like the rest of his pack. he simply didn't need it.

"Canaan! We thought you would be here!"
His hackles rose and he whipped around to see two jet-black females smirking at him. He growled deeply, lashing his tail behind him. the spies were back! Earlier than usual too.
"You thought your alphas could keep us away?" They burst into laughter.
"Out!" Canaan snarled, charging forward. They yelped in surprise, skittering off into the forest from whence they came. They always ran away quickly if he charged them. They were not the toughest spies in the forest.

    "They'll be back."
He nodded grimly, settling on his haunches to watch the entrance once more. Hopefully, someone from the pack would return before the spies. If they didn't, he could always handle himself.
