Flamepaw couldn't walk far. He turned and saw she looked sad. He ran back. "Blackpaw...I ..I..shouldn't say this at all, don't tell anyone but..I love you..." he nuzzled her and licked her nose again.

The deputy was hiding in the bushes listening to the cats conversations and he came out of the bush. "Just friends seems like a good idea." He said steadily to the two young cats. "If you ever met in battle, you can't just run away. Fighting is the only choice." He meowed face softening. "I'm happy you guys found each other but it's risky and I can't let it happen." He said "and blackpaw, what would your folks think?" He said softly to the she cat. "I support you young cats but I can't put mine and Flamepaws clan ranks at risk for a young love." He meowed to the two. "And you're right Flamepaw, I'm disappointed in your training lately."
