[Pumpkin Cupcake]

Thorntail padded up to his mate and nuzzled her before looking down at Spottedkit. "What have you done this time, you little rascal?"

Ashkit and Pebblekit were chasing each other around the nursery.

Whitekit shook his head.

Spottedkit ignored her fathers questioned.

Russetleap craned her head over her shoulder to watch her mate enter the nursery, and smiled warmly, then turned back around to look down at Spottedkit. "Been climbing the nursery, haven't we?" She replied to Thorntail's question, though asked Spottedkit her own.

Brighteyes weaved expertly among the trees, eventually stopping at the foot of an oak. Its thick roots, covered in layers of green moss snaked into the ground. "I'm going to teach you how to gather bedding for the elders." Brighteyes signaled with a flick of her long, bushy tail for him to sit, as she edged the roots to demonstrate. "Arch your paw like this, and stretch your claws as far as they'll go." With swift, delicate precision she sliced a swath of moss from the tree, leaving the roots and dirt still clinging to the bark wile a clean, neat piece of moss dangled from his paw. "Now you try."

Spottedkit shurgged. "Mrr.." She meowed cutely.

Lionpaw nodded. He arched his paw, got his claws out again. He swiped them over, making the moss fall apart. He growled, trying again. This time he got a clean, soft peice.

Russetleap purred, gently licking the top of her kit's head. "If you know that you are going to be ashamed of your actions, try not to do them in the first place." She guided her. Flicking her head slightly in her mate's direction, she held Spottedkit's gaze, her voice so soft and pure, "Do not be shy. Tell him what you did."

"Very good!" Brighteyes praised, "Keep practicing."

Spottedkit started blushing in embarrassement. "I climbed on on to the nursery top and didn't come down.."

Russetleap licked the top of her head again in encouragement, "Good girl." She whispered smoothly.

Brighteyes sat and watched as Lionpaw sliced away at the moss, cutting piece after piece and dropping them into a growing pile beside him. Before long she watched as rhythm flowed through his movement and noticed that the moss that he cut was thicker and less scarppy. Once he had paused and turned to look at her, Brighteyes eyes glowed with with admiration. "You're a natural," She commented warmly, "And although you don't know it, you're practicing valuable battle and hunting skills."

Spottedkit squeaked happily.

Lionpaw smiled warmly. "Oh, thanks Brighteyes." He meowed, extra happy. He had the best mentor.

Russetleap purred, closing her eyes and curling tighter around her daughter.

Brighteyes smiled and nodded solemnly, taking her apprentice's praise. "With each slice of your claw, you're getting more and more controlled," Brighteyes explained, "By the time you've mastered this, you'll be able to rake you enemy's muzzle with a flick of your paw, and to kill your prey quickly and cleanly."

Lionpaw nodded. His desinty was to be the best warrior BlazeClan has ever seen. He turned back to face Brighteyes, pride showing in his eyes.
