Lightstreak padded out of the medicine cats den. Her throat stung, and it hurt to eat. Maybe a visit with a friend would help. She glanced around, and snuck out of camp.

Suddenly, a rancid wind of air hit Rose's face. Rose leaped back, ears pinned back in fear and surprise. Snapping jaws almost met her nose, and the poor kit turned and fled. Rose blundered blindly through the undergrowth, squeaking in terror as the small dog pursued her. She could feel it's hot breath on her tail, and raced on, fear driving her legs faster. Rose tripped on a tree root and tumbled onto the forest floor clumsily. The pounding of the dog's paws were unmistakable. Why me? She thought sadly. I'm just a kit, and I miss mama! Why me...?

Suddenly Blade heard a dog attacking and began running over as fast as she could.
