Despite the pain of her injuries, Longpaw stumbled up, and after checking that the coast was clear, she ran as fast as she could out of the camp entrance. She didnt stop running until she reached the border. "No badgers this time I hope"

She watched as Flamepaw took an abrupt fall and skidded to a halt. "Are you alright?" She immediately asked, the fire of competition gone, but concern evident.

Flamepaw let out a content sigh when he heard Frostpaw's voice. He was glad that she didn't leave him.
"Yeah.." He murmured softly. He had more energy now, but he couldn't bring himself to face Frostpaw. He just wished this day could be over already.

She leaned in close and helped him up. "It's alright," she mummered in a soft comforting tone. "We all fall sometimes. Come to think of it, I have a fall everyday. I'm such a clutz." She smiled, hoping her words made a difference. She pressed herself against his fur, acting as a balance in case he had any trouble walking.

Flamepaw was thankful for Frostpaw's help, and he gladly leaned on her warm pelt; chukling at her comforting words. He couldn't help but lick her cheek out of nowhere. His eyes widened and he coughed in a raspy tone once he realized what he did. "S-Sorry! You had u-um.. some rabbit fur on your cheek." He blushed deeply; turning his head away from her. "Thanks for helping me." He said suddenly, giving her a soft smile. Flamepaw knew there was no good in acting shy, so he gathered up all the confidence he had left.

Frostpaw

She was a little startled by his warm gesture, and her face became hot. "Uh-uh-uh- um... I'm glad to help!" She exclaimed in too high and too loud a voice. I'm such a mousebrain, she thought. Sighing, she turned her head to hide her deep blush. Failure. Stupid. insecure. I'm not good enough for Flamepaw, he shouldn't even be my friend, she continued to insult herself. Her fur bristled, Frostpaw was angry at herself for acting so dumb and shy. He was trying to be her friend after all!
Her thoughts drifted to his comment. Did she really have rabbit fur on her cheek? How embarrassing. She shifted her gaze to Flamepaw. There were scratch marks on his face, some were bleeding out- just barely.
"Those cuts have to sting. Maybe we should go see Scartail," she mewed, and nuzzled his fur as a comforting action. She didn't even realize it, it was instinct.

Flamepaw frowned when Frostpaw addressed the cuts on his face. He would've been much prouder if they were battle scars, but no, they had to be cuts from falling straight on the ground. Flamepaw instantly forgot what he was thinking about when Frostpaw suddenly nuzzled him. Her warm fur was extremely comforting and he couldn't help but lean into her even more; letting out a deep purr. Flamepaw really liked Frostpaw, and he hoped that they could be really close one day, but he knew he couldn't let her cloud his mind. He knew he'd have to work hard to become a warrior, then he could be with Frostpaw whenever he wanted. But the thought of her still stuck out in his mind; like a fox in a clan. Her fur, her scent, her voice. Everything about her made Flamepaw feel like he was running through a soft, prey-filled meadow. "I'll be fine. Just a few little scratches." He shrugged, snapping himself out of his thoughts. He had to focus on becoming a warrior, he knew that for sure. Once they entered the camp he turned to Frostpaw and whispered in a low voice. "I had a lot of fun today. Thanks for coming out with me." He grinned at her, and nuzzled her gently.

She was filled with a warm glow when Flamepaw had returned her gesture. "I did too," she mummered, still entranced by his warm touch. But then she looked up, was it really over that quickly? She didn't want it to be. Her heart raced as she began, "Flamepaw, I-"
But the words didn't come. I what? I want to stay with you? I can't let you leave? I love you?
Frostpaw felt the blood drain from her face as she realized where her thoughts had drifted. Her heart raced, and that one moment had escalated into a thousand years in her mind. She loved him. No, no, no! This can't be! Flamepaw was her friend. She couldn't be in love with him! ... Right?
She gasped for air, feeling like she was drowning. "I-I'm going to go take a nap! Bye!" She sped off to the apprentice den, face so hot she may have been mistaken for fire.
"I'm gonna go take a nap?!" She hissed to herself. "How stupid!" She pressed her head against the floor. She needed someone to talk to.

Flamepaw stood there, frozen in place, as he watched Frostpaw speed away from him. He felt like he was about to cry in that moment. "Oh.." He murmured to himself once she was gone. Did she not have fun with me? Does she not like it when I nuzzle her? Did I say something wrong? Thoughts whirled through Flamepaw's head as he tried to figure out why she ran away like that. I can't just let her leave like that.. should I follow her? Flamepaw contemplated on if he should follow her, but he already knew the right answer. If she wanted to be alone, she would just tell him. Right? Flamepaw shrugged to himself and limped over to the apprentice's den. "Frostpaw..? I have to ask you something." He meowed softly, his amber eyes searching for the familiar dark grey fur. "Even though I lost the race, can we still share that rabbit?" He asked hopefully, waiting for an answer. Flamepaw hoped she would say yes, so he wouldn't have to worry anymore. It killed him to think that she didn't wanna be friends with him anymore.

She was still self-loathing when she suddenly heard Flamepaw's voice at the entrance of the den. Her head lifted immediately, to see him standing there with his bright Amber eyes eager for an answer. Her heart beat soared, and Her thoughts became completely clouded with notions of love and romance. Flamepaw, Flamepaw, Flamepaw, was all she could think, and when he asked her about the rabbit her heart just about melted.
"Of course!" She laughed. Be cool, be Frostpaw. He seems to like you for some reason
Anxiety choked her as she stepped out from the den. "Now where'd that rabbit go?" She mummered quietly but loud enough for him to hear.
