Sunpaw could feel the badger weakening. She was relieved that this might finally be over. Fighting the badger and the hunting she did before was taking a toll of her. Her breathing began to get heavy as she tired. Still, Sunpaw kept her guard up. One thing she learned in the few moons she had been an apprentice was how dangerous a desperate animal was.

Rapidleap & Sharppaw

"We're almost there!" Rapidleap spat, fur caught in her mouth from her grasp on the badger. She bit down again as hard as she could, tasting blood. Her back claws dug into the badger, and her paws raked over the badger's face. Even four against one, it was still a difficult battle.

Sharppaw decided to make a risky move and moved under the badger, claws out, dragging them across the badger's stomach. Blood dripped onto his fur, but he paid it no mind. He hurried to get out from under the badger, wary that he might be attacked, and bit down hard on the badger's other front leg, hearing the bone snap.

She continued nipping at the badger's flank, leaping back and forth. she ran to the badger's neck, her claws sinking barely through the thick pelt.

Badger

The badger gave a growl, then a roar in pain as he dropped down, his eyes closing with pain. The young male claws what ever he could, swiping the air with his yellow claws. His teeth bared as his back paw kicked up in the air. Dumb Prey!

Sunpaw watched as the badger dropped down and let out a gasp when she felt a harsh stinging in her shoulder. It made her stumble back a few paw steps. She realized that one of his claws must had caught her. The young apprenticed winced from the pain but she knew that her inattentiveness very well could have cost Sunpaw her life.

Rapidleap & Sharppaw

This badger just keeps on fighting! Rapidleap thought. She had bit and scratched as much as she could, and was wondering when the badger would go down. She could only think of one other thing to defeat the large animal. With her front and back claws dug into the badger's back, she opened her mouth and closed her jaw on the badger's neck, teeth sinking in for what she hoped to be a killing bite.

Sharppaw turned to see Sunpaw scratched, and worry filled him. He didn't have time to make sure she was okay, though. Especially for two apprentices, a badger was a formidable opponent. Any lack in concentration could easily result in death. Sharppaw moved back in front of the badger, claws unsheathed as they raked down the badger's face, over its eyes. If it couldn't see, it would be hard for it to fight accurately. He was grateful that he woke up and got there in time, otherwise they very well could've lost both Sunpaw and Willowpelt to the beast.

Riverpaw

Something didn't sit right with the tom, and he stood up. "Sorry, Losteye," he began, "I feel like something's wrong. If you need me, I'll be in the medicine cat's den or by the front of the camp." Without another word he left the den, walking briskly towards the camp entrance to wait for Silentstep to return. He didn't know why, but he felt that he would be needed soon.

Willowpelt hissed as the badger started to run, her cheek continuing to bleed along with some other minor scratches. "I want at least 2 warriors to make sure the badger gets off out territory.", she hisses, her eyes in slits.

Badger

The young male badger only managed to see blackness, his eyes bleeding. The badger staggered, his body trembling in pain. He started rearing up and starting to run away.

Losteye paused before meowing. "Well, I did have a strange dream..", he meowed, head lowering.

Rapidleap & Sharppaw

"I'll do it," Rapidleap offered. Her breathing was ragged, but she was unharmed. "Send someone from the patrol out here. You three should get back to camp, you're injured and who knows where that dirty animal's claws have been, you don't want to get infected." That was possibly the biggest badger she had ever seen, and how it had managed to live and run away was beyond her, but she didn't want it coming back for revenge. The she-cat laid down, still out of breath. She'd lay and wait there for another warrior to come and join her for the badger hunt.

It was hard to see. The badger had left not a moment too soon, he was feeling woozy, and he was more than exhausted. He turned to Sunpaw, "Are you alright?" He asked. She was tired, he could tell, but he couldn't see any wounds except for a claw mark on her shoulder. "Hey, you're pretty fast, huh?"

Sunpaw craned her head to get a better look at the claw mark. "It's nothing Silentstep and Riverpaw can't fix." She said, turning to look at Sharppaw. Though she didn't see the whole thing, from her point of view it seemed like he took a hard hit. She was about to say something but stopped when he remarked about her speed. "Uh, yeah. I guess my fear of being badger food made me faster." The young apprentice looked down at her paws, a worried and slightly scared expression on her face. She knew that what she did was unnatural. "So, huh, are you okay? " She said quickly, trying to change the subject.

Sharppaw

"I will be!" Sharppaw mewed, "What a fight, huh? That'll make a good story," he laughed, but he felt conflicted. How did he know to come in the first place? How did he hear Sunpaw from so far away? Whatever the reason, he thanked Starclan. If he hadn't come, he wasn't sure he'd be talking to Sunpaw right now. "Let's just get back. I'll be okay, but my face hurts." They were lucky to be alive. He started walking back towards camp, though he was slow, and his breath was labored.

Her back was arched as she spatted at the badger leaving. Her claws dug deep within into the soil. "YA, RUN YOU MANGY FOX EATER! FOX HEARTED BADGER! BEE BRAIN!", she yowled and cussed, her tail fluffy at its max level, stay in up. That badger threatened her clan mates, along with getting a deep scratch on her cheek. If that badger came back, she will make sure to kill it next time, even if it meant killing her.

He continued to run, his eyes showing fear as he whimpered in pain. The badger's claws dug deep within the soil as anger started to come through him. He was beaten by prey!
