Thorntail snorted with anger and concentrated on Russetpaw. He wiggled his shoulders and pounced, taking a quick chase before taking his paw and hooking his claws on the rabbit's ear. The claws went through, so Thorntail slid it back towards him and bit the neck, killing the rabbit in a matter of seconds. After this, he heard the sound of pawsteps nearby, so he looked towards the bush where Russetpaw was, but she was still crouching down and watching him. He looked beside him and saw a kittypet heading towards him. "Who are you? What are you doing in the forest?" he growled, puffing up his chest fur and dropping his prey, also stepping slowly towards the she-cat.
(Maybe Thorntail could love Russetpaw instead, but who cares? XD)
Thorntail was suprised by the attack, but acted quickly and scraped the tom's stomach with his claws. Struggling free, he barely stood up, with scratches going down his neck and paws. "What was that for?!" he demanded, flicking his tail with annoyance and getting prepared for another attack. Being thrown away by the one he loved was enough: getting attacked by a kittypet for no reason was too much. "Talking to a cat to see what she was doing is NOT attack worthy! I have had TOO MUCH going on in my life, and getting injured won't help a bit. Thanks for making my afternoon worse." With that, Thorntail grabbed his prey and flicked his tail at Russetpaw, signaling to her to follow.
Since Thorntail didn't go for the mouse, Russetpaw did. She landed just beside it, her jaws parted as she landed to cover the mouse. Her long, sharp fangs pierced it's tiny body, and was dead instantly. She added it to their pile, and then turned back to look at Thorntail. He hadn't been watching her, his attention had been drawn by two other cats; Tinycloud and Adderstrike. A small sigh escaped her maw. She knew how much Thorntail loved the other she-cat, and how long it would be before he fell for another. Russetpaw's gaze followed the tom as he stormed throw the bush, and her ears flickered nervously as his tail lashed with anger. She knew that something went wrong, and went to follow him, but stopped dead in her tracks as the two others followed. She ducked in behind a bush, and listened. Her anger rose as she listened to what they said to him, and she fought to hold a hiss. How dare you! She spat, How can you not tell how much he loves you!? Pain clouded Russetpaw's eyes as her words continued to echo in her mind, constantly changing in order to reveal the harsh, but unmistakable truth. How much he loves you.
He loves you.
He loves Tinycloud.
Once they left, she continued to follow him, only to see him get pinned down by a kitty pet. Her eyes grew wide with fear, at the site of the scene she had just walked into. If her brothers had been there, they would've thrown themselves into the fight, and refuse to back down until the kitty pet had been left with a scar to remind him of his mistakes. But they weren't. They decided to leave Thorntail and herself, and wonder off together. Watching as Thorntail marched off, she followed him and rubbed her pelt soothingly up against his. No longer was she sure whether it was he she was trying to calm down, or herself. "Don't worry," She whispered soothingly into his ear, "It is fine. You are fine. Everything, will be all right."
