Blazekit smiled, "Hey Spottedkit, I can't wait to be apprentices, can you? It shouldn't be long now," he said, wriggling out from under her. He noticed the medicine cat, Sootedtail, come out of her den, "Give me a minute, I'm just going somewhere," he said, bounding over to the medicine cat, "Hi Sootedtail I was wondering if I could be your apprentice, I have always liked herbs and wanted to learn more about them, and I love helping cats, I should be made an apprentice soon," he said, happily.

"Sootedtail, what's wrong with Fernstorm?" Irritated at the medicine cat's liesurly atitude with a dying cat in front of her Shinepaw says.

Spottedkit nodded and liced her aw and wiped her face, getting the dirt off.

Sootedtail greeted Blazekit warmly. "Well, I don't see why not, little one~" She purred. "I'd be happy to take you as my aprentice~"

Standing in the clearing, limp with relief, I can't help relishing the distraction of this injured deputy - as strange and dark an omen it might be. If someone had asked about our whereabouts, I don't know that I could have answered without giving away the lie. Or worse; if I had answered totally believably, every cat would think we were... I force my thoughts to stop. I need to move on. Foxfur doesn't love me, I can't keep waiting for a she-cat that will never come.

Leaving the Shadowclan deputy in the capable paws of the medicine cat, I pad back out into the clearing. At first, i'm at a loss of what to do, but then I spot Shadepelt, still standing where we left him. I trot over, giving a purred greeting before I stop before him. "See? Nothing to worry about." I meow quietly, then add, in a regular voice "I'm going to eat and take a nap, then would you like to go hunting?" I ask, glancing around confidently, to assure anyone that overheard, believes what was said.

Shrugging indifferently, I don't respond to her first comment. But at her suggestion of resting, eating, and then hunting... I sound off a loud agreement, then turn without awaiting further response, and head towards the freshkill pile. It's enough that I agreed, I don't need to hang around and torture myself. I might have decided she isn't worth chasing, but that doesn't mean the desire to just went away. I wish there was some she-cat that actually took my affection and returned it, too. But alas, there has yet to be another, equally fetching, female.
