Breezefire still could hear the pain of everyone's cries in her ears. She thought it was just her imagination at first, but then she realized it was actually happening. She pricked her ears, The leader's den.. Running there took a toll on her body, the rosemary stockpile was almost empty after all the deaths of cats. Lavenderstar or Breampaw were sleeping there. no. No. NO!
They're all going to be lost. "Is Lavenderstar and Breampaw o-" Breezefire stopped herself as she saw the dead bodies of Lavenderstar and Breampaw. The death of her clan cracked them apart as she could see Onyxstar and Pigeonpounce looking down on Breezefire with suspicion.

Breezefire's fur began to bristle as she saw the two other cats beginning to glare down at her. Her pelt quivered as she backed away, ears pinned to the back of her head as the young leader and deputy approached her warily.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" Onyxstar snarled, taking authority even though she was no more than an apprentice.

"I-- I--" Breezefire began, being cut off by Pigeonpounce.

"You've got nothing? Nothing to say at all?" the deputy hissed, tail bushing up and neck fur rising as she crept toward the medicine cat.

The medicine cat gulped down a breath of air anxiously, nearly shaking herself out of her pelt as she glanced around the now empty camp. "I swear, I swear by StarClan, I didn't do it!"

A slight growl began to rise in all three she-cats' throats as Onyxstar and Pigeonpounce stared the other down. Onyxstar sighed,
"Well, me and Pigeonpounce didn't do it either, so it has to be you."

Pigeonpounce was continuing to growl at the medicine cat, anger and grief flashing in her eyes.

Breezefire yelped, gaze flickering between the two cats. "It wasn't me! I didn't... I saw you! It was you!" She pointed her tail at one of the cats, but she was trembling too much to know exactly which one she was pointing to.

The deputy yowled, raising a paw to strike a blow at the medicine cat's face. "You can't hide it! We both know that it was you all along!"

Onyxstar nodded grimly, scraping at the dusty ground with her paws.

"Y-you need me," Breezefire insisted, barely able to choke out the words. "You'll die without me."

Both cats shook their head, and Onyxstar struck a blow of her own. "Get out of RiverClan territory, or we'll chase you out."

They bared their teeth, creeping forward towards the medicine cat again with their claws unsheathed. "Go! Get out!" Onyxstar ordered, tail lashing.

Breezefire nodded briefly and spun around, dashing out of the exit to camp. Onyxstar and Pigeonpounce followed them, yowling wildly to make sure she fully left.

Pigeonpounce panted once they had chased the medicine cat away, racing to catch her breath. "At last, we can have peace."

Onyxstar nodded in agreement, sitting down on the fresh, cold grass to rest. They sat together, watching the sunset, while one was happily unaware of what would happen to her next.

Onyxstar and her deputy stayed up late into the night, watching the stars begin to shine, piercing the inky blackness of the night. Pigeonpounce had snuggled up close to Onyxstar as the two of them gazed at the sky from dusk to dawn.

"So, we'll have to rebuild RiverClan now, won't we?" the leader murmured, wrapping her long tail around Pigeonpounce. The deputy simply nodded, not tearing her eyes from the glittering sight.

They spent a few more heartbeats staring up at the stars, though to them it felt like moons. Pigeonpounce nuzzled her muzzle against Onyxstar's flank, lapping at her ruffled pelt. The leader purred, bending over to groom the deputy's fur as well.

"It's been a while since we've been able to spend time together like this," Pigeonpounced purred softly, resting her head atop of the other's back.

"It sure has," Onyxstar mewed back. "You know... I was thinking. I know I'm not really fit to be leader, and we know that you're not really fit to be deputy. So maybe we could find some loners or something, maybe cats from another Clan, and we'll be able to rebuild RiverClan that way." She paused for a moment, before asking, "What do you think?"

Pigeonpounce continued to purr, feeling Onyxstar's chest rise and fall as she breathed. "I think it's a great idea." She started to playfully nip around Onyxstar's shoulders, rolling down back onto the ground, inviting the other she-cat to play.

A happy rumble in her throat sprung up as Onyxstar moved to pounce, landing on Pigeonpounce and rolling them over so that Onyxstar was on the bottom.

Pigeonpounce began to laugh and continued biting softly at Onyxstar, this time a bit closer to her neck. The young leader started laughing too, returning each bite with a softer one.

This went on for quite a while, before Pigeonpounce suddenly came to a stop, jerking her head upward and perking her ears.
"Do you hear that?" she whispered, ears swiveling to catch some sort of noise. The forest was deadly silent.

"Um... no?" Onyxstar mumbled, glancing around.

Pigeonpounce paused for a moment again, before diving down with a flurry of playful bites, though each one felt a little stronger than the last. "It was your tail, you silly furball!"

Once she started feeling Pigeonpounce's sharp teeth in her neck, Onyxstar attempted to push her away with her paws. "Ouch...
stop, that's starting to hurt!" she yelped, struggling to escape from Pigeonpounce's pin.

The deputy just ignored her, sinking her teeth into the other's throat, each time getting a bit more ferocious. Onyxstar began to yowl as Pigeonpounce tore out bits of flesh and fur, her muzzle becoming stained with blood.

At last, Pigeonpounce raised her head. She'd made several bloody gashes in Onyxstar's throat, and she grinned as she looked down at her panicking face. "Did you truly love me?" she purred, her voice slightly shifting into a growl as she lashed at Onyxstar again.

Onyxstar couldn't answer, or nod her head. She could only lie there, completely vulnerable.

At the lack of a response, Pigeonpounce started to breathe deeply. "It's okay. I loved you. I really did, Onyxpaw."

"I guess sometimes you just have to show them that the hard way," she added to herself, looking back up at the stars before she nipped at Onyxstar's throat again.

A few heartbeats passed, then a few more.

The last thing Onyxstar could croak out before she collapsed was "I loved you too, Pigeonpaw."

The murderer has successfully killed all other Clan members! Pigeonpounce has won!
