Deciding it was safe, Shadow dropped into the pillow of snow beneath the tree. Taking a breath of cool air the loner scented the air. As he caught the scent of prey his stomach growled and he winced as he noticed the sudden hunger pains that he had been blocking out before. Heading towards the scent he recognized it to be a winter hare. They weren't common but were good prey that could feed many hungry cats during late leaf-bare. Shadow contemplated leaving it but a second complaint from his stomach caused his mind to choose. Crouching low to the snow, the former warrior crept forwards. It seemed as though he waited too long but when he pounced he landed square on its shoulders; hunger sharpening his skills. Quickly killing the prey, Shadow began to take bites of the soft meat, relishing the taste, not knowing when he would hunt again.

Being unable to move quicker than a fast walk was a nuisance and he hadn't thought about learning to run in fear of injuring himself badly. "That'd be a huge help," the apprentice added, sliding gently off the rock to stand beside Briarkit.

briarkit smiled when the tom came beside him. "it is a bit like a native war dance or a battle move, you always have to perfect it to scare your enemy. in our case, it's running," he giggled, showing some drawings in the snow with his paw. "first, you move your left paw forward, but it depends on which leg you have gone. mine is right, so to begin i start on my left front paw. if you broke your left back paw, then you begin on right paw. once that's settled, then quickly move your remaining back paw. it depends on your speed of how quick you move to see how quick your end result of running will be! once you have moved your back paw, instantly move your other front paw. once you can do all of that, just repeat the process and you'll be running! -but you won't be as fast as the others unless you keep practising, but even then you still won't be just as fast. i guess you could run from danger, though," briarkit rambled on, gesturing and moving around. it was much harder to walk when the snow is so high, each step hurt due to the fact your broken limb kept being pushed again the cold snow.

"i'll try to when i get time, but i am actually going to be the medicine cat apprentice. i didn't have a choice, unless i wanted to be an elder like rosekit. but, i had really wanted to be a warrior, so i'd love to train with you! we can learn new things together, right!?" briarkit cheered, bouncing with excitement.

"-i don't think you're innocent either, i mean, why would she attack you?" winterpaw bluntly asked foxspirit, wondering why such a devoted clan mate would attack another.
