She caught him off guard. Varech smiled, then it faded. His tail started to twitch and when he opened his mouth, he didn't know how to make words come out. "Uh well. ... You know. ..." He coughed, hoping Sora wouldn't think that he was acting stupid. "You seemed lonely, like you needed company, and I wanted to be there for you," *OH MY GOSH did I just tell her that I want to be there for her!?! That's like me telling her that I LIKE her!* Varech's mind was rushing around the concept of what he just said, curious to know if Sora picked it up or not, and if she took what he said in the same manor.

"Thank you." she said. "No one has ever really looked out for me or loved me before. My parents abandoned me and my siblings, who were all killed by others who wanted my family dead, I was just lucky enough to escape and the rest of my family never wanted anything to do with me in fear that they would also be killed just for helping me." a tear fell down her cheek and she turned away from Varech, hoping he hadn't seen her tear.

Kirin coughed and looked over at Victoria. "Where would there be a fire?" he looked around to see if he could figure out where it was coming from. The sting of the smoke in his eyes drew tears and he coughed once again from the smoke.

((Sorry, had time to finish the other two on my labtop but had to switch to my iPod.))

Victoria said coughing, " I don't know, should check it out or run away to warn the others? " she crouch down, she knew that smoke was harmful to them, she place her paws in front of her head, trying to block it out from her eyes.

"Let's turn around and warn the others, the smoke is too thick to investigate in and would probably hurt us if we stayed." he turned around and nudged Victoria out of the smoke, he was also still coughing and his eyes still stung, but he'd rather get hurt himself than let Victoria open her eyes and get hurt.

Victoria stumbled over to the grass, she opened her eyes, the smoke not stinging her eyes. " Kirim! " she called, she tugged him over, and started running, due to the smoke spreading. She glanced around as she ran, she thought, " I must warn the others! "

Kirim ran, following Victoria. His eyes were still stinging and pain filled tears filled his eyes. He followed Victoria by picking out the blurry colors of her pelt from his blurry vision of the forest.

Victoria glanced about, the forest was completely silent. She spotted some houses nearby and dash towards them. She hoped her owner was in there. She glance at Krim and slowed down, she paced herself beside him.

He nudged his nose into her neck and licked her ear. "Don't worry, you're safe with friends. And that was the past, don't let it keep you from making a future." Varech couldn't believe Sora's family had left her. Family was most important to him and thought about protecting his own one day. "Hey look at this crystal!" He tried to get her mind off it, but as he looked at the crystal he randomly picked, it realized that there was something strange about it. It was shaped differently, curved and jagged half while another ingrown fragment branched out from it curving into it, almost making a triangular heart.

Kirim ran faster, his sight returning now that they were out of the smoke. He followed Victoria towards the houses.

Sora
Sora sniffed and followed, looking at the crystal. "It looks like a heart." she said, her frown changing into a smile. She then leaned into Varech with affection. "Thank you." she whispered to him. "Am I allowed to take a gem from this cave or would you prefer me not to?" she asked, still staring at the gem, wanting something to remember this day by.

Varech slightly blushed. He felt protective towards Sora. "It's not my cave, up to you on that decision," he replied with a smile. A chill slithered down his back and he shuttered, shaking it off.
