Specklepelt took her size for an advantage and got her hind paws under Cinderpaw and swiftly pushed up sending the apprentice flying back. Instead of attacking again she waited for Cinderpaw's next move, ready to dodge anything she would send.

Maplefur nodded, "Of, course!" he said to Milkflower and laid down to eat with her, paws tucked under his chest.

Kestrelclaw was snapped out of his memories by a sharp pain that pierced through his forepaw. He froze, wincing, and lifted his paw up to his face to give it a good licking.

Cinderpaw shook out her pelt, which was now matted with dirt and rainwater, and charged at Specklepelt's side.

Milkflower smiled at the handsome tom and took a small bite of her mouse. "Breakfast is always much more enjoyable when you have company," she commented once she had swallowed her mouthful. "Although I do wish this rain would let up a bit. Not only is it cold and gloomy, but it's spoiling our food supply and soaking our pelts! It looks as if we've just gone swimming in the stream. Oh, how I do wish the sun would come out..."

Specklepelt moved to the side and watched Cinderpaw dash beside her, she stuck out her paw knowing if she had her claws out it would have raked the cat's side.

"I guess so..." Maplefur replied. His food was a bit soggy.

"You alright? You should really see Spiritfur about the quil." Ivycloud suggested, seeing him wince.

Cinderpaw staggered to a halt when she realized that she had missed her target, but she didn't let that faze her. She spun around and charged once again at her mentor, keeping her eyes on her mentor's side just as she had last time. But this time she had another plan in mind.

"Mmm...On rainy days, when I used to live with my housefolk, I would sit on the windowsill and watch as raindrop after raindrop fell from the sky, while Maryanne would light sweet-smelling candles all around the house and Peter would sit in his velvety blue chair and read the newspaper by the fireplace. Sometimes, if it was not just raining by storming outside, the flashes of lightning and crackles of thunder would scare me so bad that I would dash into my housefolks' bedroom and cower under their bed like a mouse does from a cat. Then Maryanne would come and tempt me with salmon bits—oh, they were so scrumptious!—and, once I had been lured out of my little hiding spot, she would cradle me in her arms and read to me by the fireplace, in the flower-patterned chair that sat just beside Peter's. Those are some of my favorite memories of living with my housefolk."

Specklepelt didn't wait like she did last time, she dashed at the apprentice's paws, leaving her back exposed. She quickly swiped at her paws to knock her off balance.

Leopardtail walked out of the Medicine cat den and looked around for Moonstar, she has been thinking of taking an apprentice and would like to tell the leader.
