The she-cat nodded curtly. She knew he would never like her. She had to get away...and fast. She got up, briskly glancing around, and raced out into the forest, whizzing past Flintfoot and Flamewing in a blur. There would be no way they could notice it was her, only her tail showed. She stopped a mile away from camp, sitting down next to a pond, staring at her reflection. She swiped a paw across her reflection, pushing back tears.

She widened her eyes. "I- I... I..." She stuttered, glancing all over the ground. "I'm sorry!" She apologized. "She really likes you though! She got upset when you comforted me!" She shuffled her paws, not really knowing what to say. "I didn't know you like me... I'm kind of dumb with these things... But, have you told her you want to get to know her? That's what Riverstorm told me when I confessed I while ago."

Flintfoot

" I have told her I need to get to know her better. " He replied, voice lowered and full of misery. " I-I just don't know what to do with my life. " Be murmured, glancing at his paws. Flintfoot felt and looked completely helpless.

She placed a paw comfortingly on Flintfoot's shoulder, shaking her head. "Don't give up! I felt the same way when Riverstorm said the same thing. All you need to do now is put out a little effort, and you might find that you have lots in common with her. And if you don't, then at least then you're friends." She advised, blinking when she saw a white tail flash by. 'What was that?' She thought.

She curled into a ball, sighing and whimpering next to the lake.

Not responding, he got up and follow the zooming cat, guessing it was Kestrelflame.

She bounded after Flintfoot. "You saw it too?" She yowled, following the tom's tail, leaping and swerving to avoid trees and bushes.

"What do you want?" Kestrelflame snarled as she saw the two cats, bounding into view.

He halted and flattened his ears. " I'm not even going to try today. " He murmured and walked away, leaving Flamewing and Kestrelflame.

Flamewing whipped around. "Oh no you don't! You have got to make an effort!" She ran in front of Flintfoot, stopping him in his tracks. "Make an effort." She growled. "And tell me how it goes later, I'll be in the Warrior's den." She nodded, and trotted back to camp. She stepped into the den, said hi to Sootcloud, and curled up in her nest.
