"I am monkey!" The brown tom said. "I was exploring!" He stood up and looked at the fish swimming next to him. He glanced at it and quietly raised his paw. He jerked the fish out and bit it. It went limp, and he picked it up.

(My apologies! I was at an ortho appointment. Note: in 3 hoirs I'll be inactive probably for the rest of the day due to band camp.)

Sunpaw blinked happily. "I was just soaking up the sun and figured you'd enjoy some company." The tom's fur was still hot and tingly from laying in the sun for so long.

When the patrol reached the gorge, Finchstep stepped up and suggested, "We should probably split up here in order to cover a larger area, but don't stray too far. Meet back at this boulder by sunhigh." And with that the tom murmured a 'good luck' to everyone, touched his nose to his sister's shoulder, and slipped into the underbrush in hopes of catching a hare and maybe even a few shrews or mice.

Fawnleap watched her brother disappear into the underbrush before nodding as she parted ways with the other two warriors. Immediately, she bounded over to the river for some fishing. The slippery boulders by the water forced the warrior to slow into a walk as she made an attempt to avoid falling headfirst into the raging waters. The waters here were too strong for any fish to be present, so slowly and carefully, she made her way downriver where the river current calmed.

When she arrived, the small she-cat perched herself on a rock hanging over the water and made sure her shadow wasn't touching the water in fears of alerting her prey. Peeking in, she noticed too blurry shadows writhing around beneath the surface of the water. They were decent sized and could easily feed two to three cats. Fawnleap challenged herself to catch both.

"Excellent." Hawkcry meowed, padding towards the camp exit and scuffing up dust particles beneath his paws. He paused once they'd exited the Oasis and were on the Wastelands, calling over his rippling shoulder at the tortie, "Where would you like to go? A lot of cats have been sent to the Falls today.. should we just wander about and see what there is out there?" He flicked his head towards the vast, open desert. It was dotted with bushes, and the occasional spindly tree - perfect cover for lizards, mice, and shrews.

➳Not paying attention to what he said at first, Hailpaw glanced at him questionably. But after a moment her brain react and brought his words to her, the molly just quickly nodding trying to hide her fear and the mention of the falls, "Oh yeah, sounds like a plan." All of a sudden her tone and whole attitude picked up as she didn't want the warrior to think she was weak, not being able to go somewhere on the territory because of something that happened when she was four moons old. "If we go where everyone else is, we'll never catch anything."

The queen laid in her nest and fell asleep purring. She dreamed her kits were born and Snake was aliveband well. She watched her future kits play.

Batpaw finished lapping up the water and licked his whiskers dry, sitting back on his haunches. I went on a morning hunt and caught a full load. I cleaned the elders den as well... what is else is there to do but spar? Oh yes- Dogtail. I'll bring her some prey- queens are usually ravenous, and I haven't seen anyone go in there today. The ebony tom was a bit nervous about going to someone else, even if it were for something as trivial as giving prey. Regardless, he shoved away the uneasiness and grabbed one of the mice he'd caught earlier. Padding into the nursery, he hesitated at the entrance and cleared his throat. "Dogtail?" he mewed in his unusually soft voice.

"'Tis I, Foxfoot, the mightiest mentor," Foxfoot rose to his paws with a slight grunt of effort. "I will show you the way of the warrior!" Suddenly, the elder dropped back to the ground while panting. "That takes way more effort than I remember," he moaned as he flopped onto his side. "I will show you the way of the warrior after a quick nap."

Fawnleap didn't even bother to hide how impressed she was by Monkey's catch. "Not bad, Monkey," she mewed with respect. "Now, let me ask again, are you here with anyone?" she repeated, still slightly bothered by the thought of a rogue attack. She wasn't sure if Scorchstar would be opposed to her bringing back a loner, but he was young and skilled, a definite asset to the clan.

The queen blinked away sleep. "Yes Batpaw?" She asked and stood up, stretching. Light peeked in and she blinked.

The tom shrugged. "No, I don't know anycat around here." He answered and nosed away his fish. He watched the shadows in the water and then looked back up at Fawnleap.

Hawkcry nodded and set off again, padding straight ahead and avoiding the falls. It wasn't easy to hunt in the desert - especially for dark-pelted cats like the tabby. Prey could spot them from a while away, and the cats could very well be an easy target for hawks, eagles, owls, or, StarClan forbid, coyotes.. the most menacing of threats of all.
Hawkcry dropped into a hunting crouch and sniffed at the air.. Nothing so far. Of course. All of the prey-animals knew that the Clan lived nearby, and they were at least smart enough to avoid the Oasis. Hunting in the Wastelands required going farther away from the Oasis; it required taking a long trek away from it, really. Hawkcry knew this.. plus, he'd lived on his own in this desert for nearly eight moons of his life. He knew what sort of monsters dwelled here.
As the massive tabby snuck forward, he began to detect prey - a jackrabbit to his left.. the faint scent of something rotting to his right.. and, ugh, mouse-dung.. was that a scorpion just ahead of him. With a little hiss at the creature, Hawkcry leaped over it - knowing how its poison could kill at cat. He dropped back into his hunting crouch and went after the jackrabbit, hoping Hailpaw was behind him if he needed backup. The dark tabby slid under a shriveled, yellow bush as he saw his target. The creature was thin, had wide, black eyes, a wiggling nose, and... most importantly, powerful back legs that could easily would a cat if one didn't avoid them. One of the great things about hunting in the desert was that you could see your prey well, and since the space was so open, if sweltering, you could chase your target for a long time without losing sight of it.
Hawkcry narrowed his pale blue eyes, creeping forward through the brush and hoping the jackrabbit hadn't spotted him.. The dark tabby was not a good hunter, but anything to impress a she-cat! With a growl, he thrust forward, spraying dust and gravel every which way as he sprang, jaws gaping and claws unheated for the jackrabbit. It squealed before he could pounce on it, and took off.
It hatred away from Hawkcry, and the tabby quickly landed, and then changed his course of direction to run after it. Jackrabbit were the fastest creatures in the desert, and the male knew that he'd have to be quick and end this before it reached its burrow or outran him. He was zoning in on the prey-animal now, and he took a flying leap through the scorching desert air, scoring his long claws across its flank. The jackrabbit screeched again, this time in terror and agony, but Hawkcry didn't loosen his grip, even when the jackrabbit flailed and kicked him in the chest.
The dark tabby gasped, trying to regain his breath, and, just as the jackrabbit was pulling away from his grasp, he lunged forward and sank his fangs into its throat. Panting from the heat and exhausted from his surprising speed, Hawkcry savored the blood that seeped into his jaws - the blood let him know that he had won.
