Copper stood behind his mentor and imitated him, looking around and trying to spot any danger. "What are we even suppossed to be doing?" he whispered loudly to Ryuu

Hope kicked up her paws and tried to catch up with Shiko. She swished her tail 'round, eagerly.

Phantom kicked up his paws and walked into the woods for prey. He sniffed the ground. No scent was found, but a few seconds later scents of a hare came by. Phantom found a white hare, hopping carelessly. He stalked it in the bushes. Soon Phantom leaped up and bit down. He picked it up in his blood stained jaws. Happy with the first kill of the day, he walked over to the pack's food pile and dropped it in.

Ryuu looked crossly at his apprentice, "Demons are leaking from the spirit world, Shiko and Rising Hope have had no battle training. How do you think the leash would fend without any alchemist? No knowledge of herbs whatsoever. We're protecting some of the most important foxed in our clan." he snapped. Ryuu went back to scanning the forest.

Yuri watched the other foxes catch their rabbits expertly. His heart sank, what if he wasn't cut out to be a hunter?

Shiko enjoyed the nice day Kinari had blessed them with. The stream was only a short distance away now.

"Well, excuse me for thinking that another warrior could've taken them out," Copper snapped back, "And when are we ever going to train? I want to get over with this apprenticship as fast as I can so I'll be able to take care of myself."

Sadira watched as the other hunters headed into the woods, followed by Phantom. That was answer enough for her. She stayed a distance behind Phantom watching his movements, her ears taking in every sound. There was time enough to fear later, right now the leash needed to be feed. She remained hidden in some undergrowth as Phantom made his move and a kill.

Excitement coursed through her veins and her eyes glimmered with appreciation. She should have followed Phantom back as he deposited his kill but she wanted to try....wasn't that what this was all about? Watch and learn? Watch and do? She eagerly moved a bit further into the forest intent on following Phantom's example

Phantom noticed Sadira watching. "You can try if you want. How 'bout that robin ov'a there?" He asked, nodding his head toward a robin hidden in the grass, unknowing of what may happen to it. He walked away from the food pile and stood next to her. "Go, try."
Hope breathed in the clear, cool air that Kinari gave them. She trotted behind Shiko, waving her tails.

Ryuu glared at his arrogant apprentice, "You want to take care of yourself? You should want to take care of your leash. And Jupiter already went with the hunting patrol, this leash needs us. If you don't have any dedication, you should just become a loner!" Ryuu finished with a snarl.

Shiko ignored Ryuu and Copper's arguing, her task was to gather moss to take care of the leash. They reached the river and she led Hope to the big weeping willow. "Here," Shiko told Hope, "gather as much as you can." Shiko began to tear the moss out from under the roots of the willow, slicing the green tops of it off. "Don't rip it out by the roots, just take the green part." she instructed.

She opened her mouth in a toothy grin, unable to hide her pleasure at the suggesting before focusing her attention on the bird in question. Scratch that thought, PREY in question. A fat little robin with it's bright orange breast rummaging through the foliage. She edged her way slowly closer, careful not to step on a twig or anything that might give her way.

One. Two. Thr...SNAP.

She was horrified to hear the snap of a twig underneath her paws that she HAD been careful to avoid. The bird looked up and she pounced without a second thought...onto empty ground. She stared in disbelief at the empty spot between her paws, her tail and ears drooping. "I'll do better...I promise!" She said the words softly almost muttering them into the ground.

"Yeah." Hope answered, and walked over to the wet moss and large weeping willow. She carefully took the green tops off the cool moss, trying hard not to tear off the roots. She noticed the arguing, but quickly ignored it and got back to the work.
Phantom walked over to her. "It's fine, you're just learning. Good try anyways." He softly said, brushing the twigs away. "Just next time, look more carefully at the ground." Phantom said and noticed the hunting patrol going. "Let's go," He said and walked, but slow to wait for her.
