Mothstar lays in her nest with her paws twitching in the air and a soft purr rumbling from her chest. She is dreaming.
Running through the forest Mothstar stops by a rivers edge to take a drink. She then sits and watches the fish flash past. Leaning in closer to the water she hovers her paw over the surface, ready to hook out any unfortunate fish who dare get too close.

Sootstorm sighs and rests his head in his paws as the sun is covered by clouds. He rolls over onto his back to look at the sky and purrs happily as the clouds quickly pass and sun rays warm his pelt. "Don't you go disappearing on me again" he chuckles to the sun. He hears a rustling in the long grass a few tail lengths away. Probably a mouse. Oh well I'm not hungry any way. Sootstorm thinks to himself.

Badgerjaw prodded silently through the shrubs outside camp, sniffing carefully and observing every leaf. He was able to identify a few plants, and purred at his achievement. He wondered if they'd be any use to the medicine cat.

He figured he'd ask later, and turned away to search for prey.

Sootstorm jumps up when he hears rustling in the undergrowth next to him. Thats too loud to be prey... he thinks to himself. He takes a couple steps back and crouches low to the ground. Seeing a black and white pelt and recognising the familiar scent Sootstorm relaxes and lets out a loud sigh "Badgerjaw!" he meows "What are you doing? It's rude to interrupt cats when they're trying to enjoy the sunshine." Sootstorm sits and shoots Badgerjaw an angry glance before licking his paw.

Badgerjaw jumped and his fur stood on end, surprised. After he realized it was his Clanmate, his pelt relaxed. He smiled playfully and pawed at the earth with his foot.

"Oh, y'know.. observing..? I was looking at the shrubs outside camp. I wondered if they'd be any use to the medicine cat. I know a little, but I wasn't sure. I figured I'd ask once camp had settled for the night." His voice was calm. "What are you up to, Sootstorm?" Badgerjaw could tell his Clanmate was slightly annoyed, and although he didn't want to start any backlash, he was trying to spark a conversation.

Sootstorm stops cleaning his paws and rolls his eyes "Well I was trying to enjoy the sun." he meows glancing up at the grey clouds tinting the previously blue sky "But I guess Starclan has other ideas. Why are you trying to do the medicine cats job anyway? It's not like they have a lot to do." he chuckles and his whiskers twitch. "I think it may rain soon, I think I'm going to head into camp for some cover. You coming?" Sootstorm asks shaking his pelt as he stands up and takes a step towards the camp entrance.

Badgerjaw nodded after glancing upward to the sky. "Your right. We should head in." He skipped up to Sootstorm's side before answering his question. "Well- even though I don't want to be a medicine cat, I always thought herbs were interesting. It's good to know anyway- What would happen if we got separated from the medicine cat and got hurt?" He wasn't expecting a reply, but was more explaining his stance. His pelt rippled and he flicked an ear. "Did you eat yet? Maybe we could grab something to share while we wait out the storm."

Sootstorm pads into camp, shrugging after hearing Badgerjaw's thoughts I suppose he's right The small tom thinks to himself, he would never let his clanmate know that though. "Yeah I could eat. Pick something big, I'm starving!" Sootstorm meows cheerily, trudging over to sit outside the warriors den.

The sudden noise in camp echos through the tunnel to Mothstars den waking the pretty she-cat from her dream. She quickly shakes out her ruffled fur and shuffles into camp, still half asleep. She grabs a small sparrow from the fresh kill pile and nods to Badgerjaw. "Good afternoon. How are you doing?" she asks kindly. Mothstar then notices Sootstorm sitting by the warriors den "I hope Sootstorm wasn't distracting you from your duties." she says quietly, hoping the grey tom didn't hear her.

He tom bowed his head politely to respect his leader. "We're doing well, Mothstar. And I hope the same for you. He wasn't bothering me at all, we saw the storm moving in and figured we'd share a meal while we waited it out. It's a bummer, I was really hoping I could catch a bit more. Hopefully it's over before nightfall." Badgerjaw picked up a rabbit. "Enjoy your meal, Mothstar." He purred kindly and then turned to meet Sootstorm back at the Warriors den.

Mothstar nods her head understandingly "Ah yes, pity about the rain. I hope you enjoy your meal as well Badgerfur." she mews and pads over to sit below highrock, closing her eyes Thank you Starclan, for providing my clan with full bellies and healthy days. Mothstar thinks silently. Opening her eyes she pulls the feathers off the sparrow and slowly begins to eats her meal.

"Great choice Badgerjaw!" Sootstorm purrs seeing the rabbit Badgerjaw was holding in his jaw. When Badgerstorm approaches he takes a bite from the back leg of the prey. Sootstorm spits out a mouthful of fur with a grimace and takes another bite greedily "You know what?" he mumbles, mouth still full "Maybe you aren't as bad as I thought you were." Sootstorm swallows the food in his mouth and chuckles, whiskers twitching.

The tom nodded, although he was slightly taken aback.

How bad could I really be for Sootstorm to get that idea?

He shook the thought off with a warm, tasteful bite of the rabbit. He chose to just laugh along and not question his Clanmates remark. It wasn't worth arguing anyway. He was trying to make friends, afterall. He nodded and flicked a ear. "I'd guess not, huh?"
