Cherrypaw
shecat - apprentice - location: camp - eight moons - tags: none

cherrypaw sat in front of the apprentice's den, licking her paw before wiping it behind her ear. she had only woken up moments ago, but her eyes had already adjusted to the bright, morning sun that poured across pineclan camp. after she had finished cleaning behind her ears, she started to pick small clumps of moss that loosely clung to her fur and spitting the bits she pulled out onto the earth next to her. although the day was yet to fully start, and the dawn patrol hadn't even returned to camp, cherrypaw could sense a long day was awaiting her and her clanmates. things in the clan were uneasy, though she had only noticed that after she became an apprentice. as a kit she could sense the fear that lingered on her mother, or the constant unease that her father had; but at first she was always certain they were only scared for her health, being the runt and all. only after earning her apprentice name and receiving her mentor had she realized there had been more to put her parents on edge than just a runt. perhaps, if she hadn't recovered as quickly as she had, she would've had a different fate than her current one, judging by how things were currently being run.

the she-cat's ears pricked as she heard eaglestar's call, turning her head to the highstone where the pineclan leader sat. just looking at the leader made her pelt bristle. she rose to her paws and drew closer to the highstone, managing to keep her fur close to her pelt and not letting it bristle. she had heard mews of disapproval almost daily, yet it seemed everycat was too scared to actually start an uprising. sure, she didn't have good opinions on the leader either, but surely if eaglestar were that bad starclan would've intervened. she could smell various cats returning from the dawn patrol, and turned her head to see that the patrol had been entering camp. after eaglestar had made the announcement addressing the loners, cherrypaw was surprised. she was sure that the leader's rule had managed to drive out any cat foolish enough to stay within pineclan's reach, but she didn't question it too much. surely by next moon they'll all be chased off or dead. but the thought of killing loners made cherrypaw shift her paws. of course she hated the idea of cats on pineclan territory stealing prey just for themselves and nobody else, but life was a precious thing, why did they have the right to tear it away purposefully? she darted her attention back to the leader at the mention of the apprentices. as eaglestar finished her announcement to the apprentices and paused for a moment, cherrypaw felt the words sink in like a snake's venom. the look in eaglestar's eyes alone made her sink into her spot, wanting nothing more than the dreadful moment to end. after eaglestar dismissed the clan, cherrypaw pulled herself away from the highstone as quickly as possible to a shaded part in camp. her mind pulsed with questions of what eaglestar would teach the apprentices on patrol. she had to reassure herself multiple times that the leader wouldn't harm all of the apprentices, and she probably just wanted to make sure they understood the power she held, or something like that.

Nightclaw
tom - warrior - location: pineclan territory - thirty-five moons - tags: none

after eaglestar had finished her speech, nightclaw drew away from the highstone towards the exit to camp. he figured he could train thymepaw after eaglestar had talked to the apprentices, he would hate to distract the apprentice and have them end up answering to eaglestar, only starclan knew what would happen to the apprentice. as he pushed his way through the brush into the forest, he flicked his ears before listening for any prey hopping along the forest floor. after a few moments of silence, he figured he would just have to sniff a mouse or bird out. he remembered to keep a look out for any loners, calling his mind back to eaglestar's speech about their scent on the borders. he had to work his way around the scent of the returning dawn patrol and managed to sniff out a mouse. it wasn't the best prey but it would have to do, he didn't want to make his small hunting trip into a long one, after all.

SPARKPAW
(interactions and mentions: Sunpaw, Scorchpaw, Sparkpaw, Wolfwhisper, Eaglestar, Barkstripe)
Super sorry for the delay once more! Hopefully this should be the only time! c:

Tail swishing against the warmed apprentice den floor, a purr of excitement caught itself in Sparkpaw's throat as she gaze up at their leader as she spoke. The complex mania she felt whenever given even the slightest praise would contradict her worry, never one to linger on anything but words, the small ginger-and-white cat sat with what seemed to be her first bit of self-restraint in moons. The fur around her neck prickled as she spoke the word wildfire, thats what she yearned to be; not sparks but a blaze which consumed all with its purpose. How lovely would it be to be as wanted, as important, as Eaglestar? Without her the clan was nothing more then a group of vagabond cats who had little importance or connection to each other outside of their belive in the clan system and by extension the warrior code. At least in Sparkpaw's eyes, thats what it seemed like. A perfect circular disillusion of what it meant to be a cat bound by the rules of their ancestors.

Jolts of vigor sprang through every ligament and fiber in her body as Sunpaw's thrilled wailing dragged her back into reality. Their task was to serve their clan as apprentices, as young cats who could absorb everything and make their world greater. Despite not having completely set in, all her wishing had paid off. Night melted to day and day melted to night, through it all she had stayed awake watching and wishing the stars during their time in the nursery, seeking Starclan's favour when it came to their training. Sparkpaw would be the best apprentice she could be, then excel past that. "I'll take anything to get out of camp!" Maybe not anything, but most duties. Picking ticks from the pelts of elders of changing out their moss was certainly the last thing that the little ginger-and-white tabby would want to do. Luckily, those were tasks she would only be stuck with for a handful of moons, when she became the greatest warrior in the clan she could order around apprentices to do it for her.

Acknowledgin' Wolfwhisper with a respectful nod, her attempts to control her eagerness was once more shattered by the arrival of Barkstripe. Objectively, he was the best mentor Pineclan - no, the whole forest had! In spite of how little time they had spent as mentor and apprentice there was no denying that Sparkpaw had hit the jackpot. "I'm going to make you super proud Barkstripe! Just you wait!" An almost kit-like mewl of keeness set off as she spoke, her tail flicking excitingly as her mentor greated her with the same friendliness he always had. Mouth watering at the thought of being able to eat before putting in the inevitable hard training she and the rest off the apprentices would have to go through, the molly shook her head in a 'yes' eagerly. "Are we really allowed to eat before training?" Ears perked as she shifted her tabby head, her paws though firm kneaded the soft dusty earth below her.

Eaglestar's green eyes swept over Absinthetongue, noticing something was off about the other molly. The other molly didn't even greet her in return. What was going on with her? Surely the scent of loners wasn't making Absinthetongue worry. Absinthetongue had long since proven to be a brave, strong warrior. So what was it? Eaglestar padded up side Abinthetonge until she was now standing in front of her. Something about this put a sour taste in her mouth. Eaglestr let her tail brush against Absinthetongue's shoulder as she passed, hoping to ease the other molly.

"I want you to take him out into the territory." Eaglestar started straight into it, seeing as the other molly didn't want to chat. "He's not been himself lately. I'd like you to get him out, and give him a chance to clear his head, before he makes a mistake he'll regret." Eaglestar went on to explain, her face taking on a more concerned expression. It was true she thought he had changed, but she wanted to know just how far he might take things. "Perhaps do some training with him as well." Eaglestar suggested after a moment. Thunderroar always liked to be active anyway, maybe that'd tire him out enough to keep his nose in his own business. "I've always been able to rely you to get things done Absinthetongue. You've strived to work hard since the moment I met you. You've grown into a strong warrior these past moons Absinthetongue." Eaglestar's head lifted in pride, remembering just how far the molly before her had come. Absinthetongue had joined the clan wanting to become strong, and strong she had become. "Be sure to report to me once you return to camp." Something about her tone shifted ever so slightly if one picked up on it. Her gaze grew a bit sharper as she gazed unblinkingly at Absinthetongue.

Thunderroar was mid grooming when he heard the leader's call for a meeting. The tom slowly put his paw down, letting out a sigh. His sleep had been restless after his argument with Eaglestar. He still felt irritated over how she acted. He wished he hadn't even told about the scents he had found. Only one scent was recent, and not even that close to the border. He only found after he chased down a rabbit. He didn't bother tracking the scent. Eaglestar seemed to think he should have. To make sure there was nothing else going on. He knew she'd been a bit on edge since the incident with Leo, but that was moons ago.

Looking towards the entrance, Thunderroar frowned. The day had barley begun. Was the dawn patrol even back yet? Thunderroar then felt the gentle nudge of his sister as she padded up from behind. Thunderroar bumped heads with her, muttering a tired greeting. "Moring to you too mousebrain." Thunderroar rolled his eyes at her reply. "At least I don't smell like crowfood." Thunderraor tessed as he flicked her with his tail. The tom smirked seeing Sleetfall glare at him. Thunderroar saw a blur of movement and instantly ducked, but was too slow as he felt Sleetfall swipe the top of his head with a paw. Thunderroar chuckled as he watched his littermate pad out of the den. Lifting himself up, Thunderroar soon followed after her into the main part of camp.

Thunderroar gazed up at the leader that stood atop the highstone. The tom felt as if something was clawing at his belly. A now familiar feeling of something not being right once again fell over him. Spotting Icefang, Thunderroar waved his tail at the other tom, returning the warm smile. Thunderroar found a place to settle down for the meeting, and was glad when Icefang settled in next to him. Before Thunderroar even had a chance greet his friend, Eaglestar had began talking. Thunderroar lifted his gaze to the molly standing on the highstone, wondering what he had to say this time.

As the meeting ended Thunderroar watched as Eaglestar leapt to the ground. The fur on his back prickled as he met her gaze. The molly gave him a cold stare. The tip of his tail twitched, wondering what she was thinking. Thunderroar watched her stride away. What was she up to? Taking all the appetences out for training? Thunderorar flicked an ear hearing Icefang next to him. The tom was still a bit tense, but couldn't help but chuckle at Icefangs words. "Pft. If only it was that simple." Thunderroar got to his paws and screeched.

Thunderroar glanced towards Minthaze and Silverwish, his ears flicking in their direction as the mollies spoke. Thunderroar huffed, mumbling something under his breath. Thunderroar only then noticed how Icefang was watching him. Icefang clearing was wanting to know more. "I had another another disagreement with Eaglestar last night." Thunderroar started to tense up again, anger starting to boil up as he used the word Eaglestar had used when he left her den the night before. "It was more than just a "disagreemnt" though. I think she close to actually leaping at me." Thunderroar spoke very quietly, his eyes looking towards his leader, making sure she wasn't paying attention.

Sleetfall let out a soft purr hearing her littermate let out a chuckle back in the warriors den. She was glad he seemed to be doing better than last night. She had been a bit worried when he came into the den after speaking with Eaglestar. She knew he had gotten pretty upset. She had no doubt he'd said something stupid again. She seriously wished he stop and think every once in a while, especially when it came to Eaglestar. Sleetfall was afraid he'd push it to far one of these times, and get into some serious trouble.

Sleetfall had barely found a place to sit before Eaglestar started the meeting. Sleetfall lifted a paw to start grooming her pelt as Eaglestar went over the scents at the border. Just restating common knowledge. Sleetfall kept grooming as Eaglestar went on about how much the clan had grown stronger. Clearly the leader was just proud of her warriors, right? Though Sleetfall still felt a shiver in the way the leader had spoken. The thing that did surprise Sleetfall was when Eaglestar spoke of taking the appretices out. That made her look up at the highstone where the leader stood, then to the where the apprentices were. Interesting. Taking Darkpaw as well. Wouldn't hurt for him to learn some of the same stuff Sleetfall supposed. Strsnge, but Sleetfall still trusted her leader knew what she was doing.

When the clan was dismissed, Sleetfall slipped away from the main group of her clan, padding back towards warriors den. Tansyfire would be sure to find her if she was wanted for a patrol. Sleetfall tilted her head seeing Bearheart standing at the den entrance. What was she doing just standing there? Sleetfall edged forward slowly, wondering what was going on. Ears perking forward. "Looking for someone?" Sleetfall's soft voice called out to Bearheart as she approached.

Snowmist purred lightly, spotting Shatterquartz approaching. "Good morning!" She called, tossing the mouse she had caught towards her friend. Despite Eaglestar's announcement, she wanted to sound cheerful, and pretend it was just another day, but that didn't last long. Snowmist swished her tail uncomfortably as her friend began speaking, she couldn't help but agree. Lowering her voice to a mere grumble, she began speaking. "We didn't even scent any loners on the morning patrol. I don't know what the big deal is anyway, they're just loners. Some even walk among our ranks." She finished, shooting a quick look over towards Darkpaw and pausing. She took the opportunity to change the subject, "How do you think he's gonna go with the other apprentices?" Snowmist asked clearly. She couldn't imagine either Shatterquartz or Darkpaw was excited for battle training, but it was at least a good distraction from the loners, right? "You guys should to eat before going out, training on an empty belly sucks!" She purred with amusement, pointing her tail towards the freshly caught mouse which they seemingly had forgot about until then.

Wolfwhisper purred at the apprentices excitement. Seeing them so eager to train settled his nerves, if Eaglestar couldn't at least see how excited the apprentices were, then there wasn't much he could do about that. After all, they were only 7 moons old, he swore he could still see kit fluff falling off Sunpaw if he looked close enough. Wolfwhisper turned his attention to Barkstripe, giving the younger warrior a respectful nod. "Do you mind if Sunpaw and I join you? I'm sure he'd be up for some extra practice, right, Sunpaw?" Wolfwhisper questioned, waving his tail high in the air. He glanced around the camp for Tansyfire, surely Scorchpaw would want to come too, being left behind at camp couldn't be much fun, especially for such a young cat.

Willowheart grunted when she heard Eagelstar's voice. "What now?" She complained to herself, stretching in her nest. She pushed her way out of the den, embracing the warm sun. She sat just outside the huddle of cats under the highstone, after all this meeting probably wasn't for her, and she was right. It wasn't her responsibility to fight off any foolish loners anymore, and she certainly wasn't an apprentice. She scoffed as her leader left the highrock and carried herself to the empty fresh kill pile to look for any scraps. "Tansyfire!" She called, disappointed by the lack of food, "you're going to send out a hunting patrol before taking Scorchpaw out, right?" She flicked her tail in annoyance. She trusted the deputy's judgement, but she couldn't help but feel sometimes there should be more hunting patrols.
