Foxpond-Tom-Deputy-Somewhere-Tags: Brackenfoot, Bramblenose, Shatteredmoon

Foxpond pauses for a moment. β€œAh um yes. Bramblenose, you can lead the patrol.” Foxpond shook his head. β€œI’ll stay here, and Lizardeye please go with Shatteredmoon.” He asked her politely, trying not to anger her and start a blow up. Shatteredmoon has seemed to be the only one what could keep her quiet. Foxpond would simply wait at the place they were, he had set up multiple markers as he traveled along sure it would be impossible for Lagoonstat to be lost. He simply refused to believe that something bad had happened to the cat.

Lizardeye-She cat-Warrior-Somewhere-Tags: Shatteredmoon, Bramblenose

Lizardeye shut her mouth, that was open to shout out an icy comment. She dipped her head at shatteredmoon and let out a β€œhuh!” As she turned around and stalked away to no where in particular. She hung her head as she remembered the queen that Foxpond had mentioned. The poor queen had lost her kits. Such a shame. Lizardeye was very protective of the young cats in the clan and she had always been sharp but the storm had caused her to be on edge and it’s as if the storm had sharpened her more.

Yarrowstare/Warrior/30 Moons/Tags: None

"Finally, the yellow-eyed molly hissed to herself, "I got my pelt clean." Her silver-tabby pelt was now sparkling clean, a little damp fromher tongue, but clean. Now for some fresh-kill, she thought to herself with a devious look spreading across her face. Yarrowstare was stopped from sneaking away though when she was called for a hunting patrol. Mentally cursing, she waited impatiently for the patrol to start, talking to no one. She sighed in relief when all the cats finally set out on a patrol. Opening her mouth, she tasted the still moist air for any signs of prey. At first there was nothing , but a familiar scent soon wafted into the molly's nose. Mouse! she thought excitedly. She located the source of the smell to be eating seeds near a large oak tree in the only patch of forest the territory had. "Its scrawny", she hissed distastefully, "but it will do." Dropping into a hunting crouch, she slipped silently along the bracken trying to hide her pelt and find the best place to pounce. Once the she-cat felt satisfied, she waited patiently for the mouse to become distracted. As it bent down to eat the last seed it will ever eat, the she-cat pounced upon it and killed it with a swift nip to the neck. Yarrowstare's stomach growled at the smell of fresh blood and she couldn't wait to find a place to sink her teeth into her newly caught fresh-kill. Making her way across the territory, she came to a hidden dig-out sheltered within a stump. Slipping inside, she found a comfortable place to sit and eat. Devouring the mouse, the she-cat felt no remorse for depriving fresh-kill from her clanmates. Burying the remains, the silver tabby molly buried the evidence and slipped away to hunt some more in order to compensate for the fresh-kill scent now surrounding her. The last thing the molly wanted was to have to deal with an angry hunting patrol.

    [ tom ] [ 47 moons ] [ warrior ] [ no apprentice ] [ no crush/mate ] [ mentions: gullpaw ] [ tags: shatteredmoon, lizardeye, foxpond, yarrowstare ]

he nodded to shatteredmoon as the tom acknowledged his words and then went to get a patrol together. when he heard a cough behind him and then lizardeye's remarks, the tom flattened his ears and rolled his eyes. clearly, they both needed a wake-up call on matters. foxpond had barely been deputy and with lagoonstar most likely dead, he needed to cut the crap and accept the help because obviously, he was too hot-headed to even accept the gratitude of someone taking initiative to get things moving rather than sit around and spat out orders and then ask for a cat that wasn't even there, a queen no doubt. the tom simply put it aside as his mind being jumbled but he wasn't planning to be scolded like some kit sneaking out of camp.

he opened his mouth but then shatteredmoon spoke up, defending him in more of a way than bramblenose himself because his own response was bound to ruffle the other toms fur and he hoped it did. he needed to learn some gratitude and not let some measly title get to his head in such a situation. when shatteredmoon finished and foxpond responded, he sat down on his haunches, tail tip slowly moving back and forth in anticipation to get his own word in, whether it was wanted, he honestly didn't care because he thought it was needed.

when the toms finished, he rose, his green gazed narrowed and hot on the new deputy. "well well." he started out, his tail slightly above his own body and his lip slightly peeled back as he addressed both him and lizardeye, seeing as the molly was still within earshot, as shatteredmoon had yet to leave. "for one, i didn't know one needed to be deputy to make well-judged decisions for the clan, nor did i expect to be spat at, for taking the initiative to get things moving. so for one, you need to be a lot less hot headed over something like a title and work more on your skills regarding accepting help whether or not you want it or not foxpond. it doesn't matter if you're deputy or not. when things need to be done, they get done, you do not wait for others to wait around for orders, if that were the case, nothing would get done and we'd be blindy following orders." he paused, letting the words sink in for a moment before the bengal continued, his tone was level and held very little emotion it in currently, underlying the fact that he was rather irritated in the treatment he was being given by not one but two of his own clan mates. "so whatever it is that has your fur in a twist, i suggest you work it out, else you'll have more than just one irritated clan mate to deal with, especially for lashing out over something like a simple task." rather than stop there, the tom gave his last words.

"so i apologize for taking the initiative to get the day started and a camp built, seeing as we have all been displaced, now excuse me, while i go lead the hunting patrol you assigned me to." with that he turned and addressed shatteredmoon again. "i'll keep an eye out for gullpaw for you." with that he noticed yarrowstare already head out without waiting for the rest of them. his tail lashed but he chose not to follow after the molly as long as she had a successful hunt, he had hoped to be able to pair up. rather than wait for badgertail and whisperthistle, he bounded off and would not hear any responses should any follow his words. "the ignorance." he muttered to himself once the felines behind him were no longer within his sight should he look back. the tom slowed in the water logged territory and scented the air, searching for prey.

her paws were wet and also rather muddy, it was honestly less than desirable conditions to be out and about it and for sure would take days to dry up, as long as the rain didn't come again. the young apprentice continued onward, her slumped posture indicating the weight that she bared mentally. she did hope that his mentor would not be upset with her for going out on her own but she had to find someone or at least some closure but she wasn't prepared for anything to be completely honest with herself. the spotted tabby sighed, her gaze searching the grassy landscape in search of life.

something caught her eye in the distance, it was movement in the slightly flattened strands of grass. she paused for a moment, unsure of if she should even be moving towards whatever it was. hesitant but still wanting to figure out what it was she continued forward, holding her breath for a moment and letting out a screech when a flock of predatory birds flew up into the air. that didn't give her any good sign for whatever they were eating. please dont' be alive. please don't be alive. please dont be a cat. she repeated over and over to herself as she moved closer, paw by paw.

the stench of decomposing flesh wafted towards her and overloaded her senses as she pushed through the nauseating smell. first she saw fur and then that of a muddy feline body. she gagged, unsure of how to even recognize this cat and what remained of its body that the birds hadnt eaten already. she looked away at first before forcing herself to look, what if someone needed closure like herself to know what had happened to their family, minus the gorey details of course. the apprentice was pretty sure this image would haunt her in her sleep for quite some time.

the scar that laid across the untouched head is what made her recognize the corpse. it was none other than that of lagoonstar. she reeled backward and nearly tumbled over her own paws in the process. if she had anything in her stomach it would most definitely be on the ground currently but instead, she was dry heaving as she scrambled away. there was no one around her for her to tell, she couldn't really see much, to begin with as she recovered from her stumbling and her vision cleared.

"you can do this gullpaw. you're not a kit anymore." and then more dry heaves. "no, i cant." with that the apprentice took off, away from both the body of what once was and not even looking for a landmark that would take her back to the spot should she ask. she continued until her she was out of breath and her legs slightly tired through the muddy terrain. gullpaw let herself drop onto the ground, closing her eyes and attempting to forget everything she just saw, she wished this was some sort of dream she could wake up from.

bandit had lost nothing but his den in all this chaos. of course, he had been on the higher ground and seen it all in horror. that being said, he didn't really care that anyone had lost anything, attachments to him meant weakness. the young tom had been on his own for quite some time and having traveled the majority of his life. he had decided to stick to one place for a few moons at a times. unfortunately, the area he had decided on was close to clan cat territory.

the seal pointed tom knew nothing of clan cats and their ways and he was unsure of them but at the same time he saw them as no threat to him. sure, he supposed that they could do him some damage but for now, they were probably recovering from all this chaos and water that had come through. the tom himself was still slightly wet, having moved through a generally muddy area for the time being.

the underside of his pelt was damp and covered with drying mud. so far he had yet to find any source of life, mainly prey to be exact. he didn't feel like dealing with an emotionally unstable cat for now and was more focused on filling his growling stomach. moving through the slightly flattened grass, he continued onward and scented the air. the only thing he could smell was mud and rain, everything else seemed nonexistent which irritated him. bandit lacked patience. he sighed but stopped moving when he noticed he had stepped on unturned soil, indicating that a mole had come through. he let his ears strain as he lowered himself to the ground and searched for the scent, he'd dig it out if he had to.

Darkpaw
He stood atop a hill, his fur plastered down with thick globs of mud. It was questionable if anyone would even recognize him as he was, but Darkpaw hardly seemed to realize that. His mind was too focused on finding someone - anyone really, that had survived the storm. He was colder and hungrier than he had ever been before, having only managed to find a soggy mouse a few days prior, drowned by the storm. Darkpaw had searched between his restless naps and fruitless hunts for any of his clanmates, but had only found the lifeless bodies of Pebblestep and Stonekit, the warrior still holding his kit tightly in his jaws. It had been terrifying to see such a strong warrior crumpled up and discarded like a wet scrap of fur, but even more so to see that the storm had not even spared the young life of a kit.

Once he had gotten past his initial terror, Darkpaw had groomed them and sat vigil for them, spending the rest of the day digging in the mud so that he could bury them. That had been yesterday. An abrupt cry in the distance caught his attention and he quickly hurried down the slope, the ground squelching around his paws. Perhaps it was a bird, or maybe even a clanmate. Either way, he ran towards where he believed the sound had come from, though he saw no sign of what made it. β€œHello? Is anyone there?” he called out. Darkpaw tried wiping off some of the mud obscuring his face so that he could see a bit better, but only managed to smear it more. Reedpaw too was covered in mud, and as such, Darkpaw failed to spot the other tom.

Grassleap
Grassleap frowned as her clanmates bickered in front of her. There was really no reason for them to be arguing, but tensions were still high after they had reunited and clanmates remained missing. Her mate was one of the missing cats, though Grassleap was confident he would be fine. It certainly was comforting to see that Shatteredmoon had survived. Even if they weren’t mates anymore, she still regarded him as a close friend. Watching as patrols were organized, Grassleap got to her paws. No one beside her mate and the two medicine cats knew that she was pregnant yet, but she was determined to help as long as possible, especially after all that had happened. β€œFoxpond, what can I do to help? I can go hunting or look for survivors if you want? Or should I get started on building shelter for everyone?”

Dust Bunny (Dusty)
The little kit wailed as she tried to free herself from the mud. It sucked her tiny body into it, her legs far too short to help her get out of it. She had escaped from her twoleg’s den after the storm, her family nowhere to be seen ever since a tree that had fallen through the roof had landed where her mother and siblings had been sleeping. Dusty had ran off to explore, but had quickly found herself continuously getting stuck in mud. It covered her short legs and belly fur, and she had started to get hungry and wanted to go back home to her family, but she was lost. The kittypet kit had wandered around cluelessly up until she had gotten stuck in mud that had completely sucked in the lower half of her, leaving only her head and back free from the mud. She tried pulling her paws free from the mud again to no avail, crying out for her mother to come and save her.

HORUS β˜₯-
( 42 Moons ) ( Loner ) ( Molly ) ( No crush/mate ) ( Tags: Open ) ( Mentions: None )

Horus flicked her paw to rid of the water that cling to her paws. With an annoyed sigh she glanced at her brother, who sauntered beside her with a content look on her face. Horus scowled and rolles her eyes, β€œMousebrain.” She grumbled, causing her brother to hum and give her a glance. Horus glared, β€œHow can you stand this?” She asked. Lonesome flicked his tail and shook his head, β€œI can’t, I’m just not a grump like you.” Horus hissed at him and focused on putting her feet in less soggy areas. It had been three sunrises since the weather tore through the barn the two Siamese called home. Making sure they had each other, the siblings fled in search of a more stable and safe den to hunker down in. The two ran until they found on old fox den and used it until the weather settled, now they had to figure out exactly where they were.

Horus opened her mouth to scent the air before her fur bristled, β€œLonesome!” She hissed quietly, causing the slightly larger Siamese to fall back. He tipped his head at her but said nothing. β€œDont you smell it? Clan cats!” She said. Horus has never actually seen one of these monsterous clan cats before, and she hoped she never would. Her brother and her had made sure to steer clear from their path when they lived in the barn, if they had ventured too far into the fields they could pick up their scents, and with two skinny Siamese cats the two didn’t want to start any fights.

LONESOME ✢-
( 42 Moons ) ( Loner ) ( Tom ) ( No crush/mate ) ( Tags: Open ) ( Mentions: None )

Lonesome turned to scent, and while what he picked up was faint, his fur teemed with uneasiness. β€œYou don’t think they’re here to attack us, do you?” He whispered back to Horus, giving his sister a generally concerned look that almost rarely crossed his face. Horus tried to peer above the tall grass as best she could, not quite reaching over the top. Horus didn’t give him an answer as her fears began to hinder her ability to talk. Lonesome looked around in thought for a moment before giving a determined glare, β€œWe all just suffered terrible weather, they’d be crazy to just up and attack two defenseless cats! Those stories mother use to tell us about them eating the bones of their enemies was just to scare us into staying in the barn.” He said and stood taller, a sassy look donning his face. β€œWe have to keep moving and see if we can’t find the barn, we should wait unless Honey decides to return.” Lonesome said confidently. A sour look crossed Horus face before she sighed and looked away, β€œYou really think after all these moons she’ll come back?” She hissed quietly. Lonesome gave her a stern look before she continued, β€œHoney left us when we were 10 moons old Lonesome! She isn’t coming back now mousebrain, you’re just wasting your time in that barn! I suggest we get on with our lives.” Her voice went from stern to saddened as she whacked her tail angrily on the ground. Lonesome’s ears twitched in annoyance, β€œThen why do you even stay in the barn? You could leave just like she did.” He said bitterly. Horus’s fur bristled even more and she glared at him, β€œBecause I’m trying to look out for you Lonesome!” She spat. Silence fell upon the two and Horus stood up, giving her chest a couple awkward licks, β€œLet’s just...keep going.” Horus muttered. Lonesome shook his head and began to take lead again, praying they don’t run into any trouble.

FEATHERSONG ❦-
( 25 Moons ) ( Warrior ) ( Molly ) ( No crush/mate ) ( Tags: Bandit ) ( Mentions: Mothleap )

Feathersong put her shaking paw down on the ground and stopped to gaze at her surroundings. Her fur was soaked in muddy rain and wet pieces of grass. Feathersong looked around desperately as a cry of fear and loneliness began to crawl up her throat. She couldn’t find her clanmates, or her brother, anywhere. β€œThey didn’t leave without you Feather song,” She began, talking to herself to fill the empty air around her. β€œMothleap wouldn’t leave.” She mumbled, flattening her ears as she trotted. It was as if her mind was playing a sickening game on her; everywhere she turned she thought she caught the scent of her clan, but within seconds it was lost to the smell of wet grass and dirt. Feathersong gave a defeated sigh as she slowed her pace, she was tired, cold, and hungry. Feathersong looked around once more, she thought she’d have known just how to get back to her clan, but upon realizing most of her life was spent inside Slateclan’s territory, the world became an even bigger place than she knew.

Feathersong lowered herself to the ground in exhaust, closing her eyes. StarClan forgive her for whatever treachery she had done to deserve this, β€œI’m sorry Mothleap...” She sighed as her thoughts flooded to her brother. While Feathersong considered herself friends with just about anyone, her brother would always be her closest and best friend. Feathersong caught her breath for a minute longer before she heard rustling from the distance. It sounded like something walking to Feathersong’s knowledge. Without stopping to think for potential danger, Feathersong snapped her head up and looked around, scrambling up from the earth’s floor. Peering frantically, Feathersong’s heart kept when she made out the shape of another cat, though it was a scent she didn’t recognize, Feathersong didn’t care, she was desperate at this point.

Feathersong had to stop herself from bounding over to the stranger, β€œHello!” She called with newfound hope in her voice. Feathersong’s tail flicked wildly as she approached the stranger, β€œI’m...I’m really sorry to bother you! I’m, well I’m lost and need some help,” She began, it was a bit of a ramble but Feathersong didn’t seem to notice. β€œI’m looking for my clanmates, and maybe you saw them? Or maybe you know where they’ve gone? Anything will help at this point.” She blinked at the seal point stranger hopefully.

smallsky { territory -- lost. open. }
>> he/him. thirty moons. warrior.
>> brown-and-white tabby with green eyes.

The storm took Smallsky - and every cat - by surprise. It swept him off his feet and before he knew it, he had no idea where he was. He'd been trying to stick with the Clan, but the water and wind had pulled him somewhere into the grassy fields of the territory, except he couldn't tell where, or even if he actually was in SlateClan territory anymore, because everything looked so different.

Right after the storm died down, he'd found himself stuck in a clump of heather and weak-pawed from fighting the weather. He'd struggled weakly and eventually broken free, though he'd left a few clumps of fur behind. Now he was trying to find a tree, or any landmark he recognized, but he was worried he would wander too far and it wouldn't matter where he was because he wouldn't be able to find his way back, so he kept circling around where he had first ended up.

It had been a few days, and he desperately missed his Clanmates and needed to know if they were okay. The last time he'd seen Grassleap, she had been fine and safe, but he knew that might not still be the case and he worried for her. Unfortunately, he knew Duskshiver hadn't made it - he'd found his brother's body the first day after the storm. It felt like a cruel twist of fate, because Duskshiver was always one for adventure, and Smallsky was always overly cautious. He hadn't dwelled on those thoughts while cleaning his brother's dark fur or burying him, but he did send out a silent prayer that he'd found peace while sitting vigil.

He pulled himself from his thoughts and lifted his nose to the air, hoping to scent something, anything, but all he could taste was water and mud. His own coat was cleaned, and even he didn't smell like himself, so he didn't think any cat would be able to find him, but he hoped. Maybe the way he was currently walking was the way to the other cats. Maybe. Either way, soon he was going to turn around and check in the other directions.

The only thing that came into Whisperthistle's mind as she woke up was the lack of rain spattering her pelt. With one light green eye peeking open she glanced around, as if checking to insure her world was still whole. For a few moments she remained still, hunched over with her thick black pelt laying damp against her skin. Thank starclan. The thought came swiftly as the fog of sleep began to leave her brain and the first task would be to groom her pelt to its former glory. With that the obsidian molly sat up grimacing as her muscles screamed in protest at virtually any action. The hurricane had been brutal, she herself had come out alive but not unscathed. A large gash sat proudly across her hips and she could feel that her left paw had been horribly sprained. Nevertheless, she was alive.

With tedious licks the feline groomed her pelt, stopping ever so often to spat out a muzzleful of hair and debris that clung to her fur. It would be a long grooming session, that much she knew. She was in luck though, it seemed she rose particularly early which gave her ample time to groom herself before the day's events were to take place. As she groomed herself she all but zoned out everything around her. The morning ker-fluffle of the clan becoming but a distant event in her mind. She was always a particularly cleanly cat- she had no choice but to be clean. If not her fur would be horribly matted and she wasn't going to go walking around like some deranged animal with no brain between her two ears.

Only when her name came into the morning's discussion did her head whip around looking over at Shatteredmoon with curiosity. Deciding that her pelt was as clean as it would get given the waterlogged soil she stood gingerly, favoring her sprained paw and gave a great yawn. She made her way over to Shatteredmoon with a curl of her tail in greeting and a soft "mrrrp" that followed. Whisperthistle had grown well into her name, the uncannily large molly had been relatively silent since she was a kit- a quirk of hers that had followed well into adulthood. She merely lingered around the tom, giving Lizardeye a cross look as the molly was particularly sour and hateful towards the other members. Her tail-tip flicked in annoyance towards the fellow molly before she nudged Shatteredmoon's shoulder, "I'll be fine to accompany you for the patrol." Her voice was soft as she moved away a few steps, and stood still glaring at the ground that her paws sank into. She wouldn't be doing a lot of sitting until the ground dried up or she could find a nice little perch to claim as her own.

The storm was violent and came out of no where, like a coyote. It cared not for what or who was in it's path the only thing the torrential rains and blinding winds knew were destruction. Peonypelt had been out hunting, hoping to secure a few more pieces of prey before what they all thought would simply be a bad rainstorm would hit landfall. Little did she know. Within seconds she was battling the wind and rain, small pieces of debris scraping every inch of her body. She remembered wailing to starclan to save her, to spare her life. It was after she wailed to them while being swept away in a surge of water that she blacked out. Only to awaken and open her eyes to see nothing but black.

At first she thought she was lost and it was simply the dark but there were no stars to be seen. The searing burn of pain in her eyes was all she truly remembered now, like someone had clawed her eyes out. Amidst the nearly belly high waters right after the storm she managed to stumble her way towards the small forest located in their territory, blindly finding her way in a territory that now left her feeling vulnerable and frightened. She couldn't smell anything other than the mud and rain, the scents of yesterday and the days before being washed away she was lost. Rendered without her vision and utterly alone, it was the first day after the storm that she laid down in the small forest, just under a bush that had braved the storm and won.

It had been three days now, her throat was raw from the yowling she had done to seek out if any of her clanmates were near. Her heart was shattered and her faith in their warrior ancestors all but gone with the storm. In the heart of the once brave and sweet huntress a seed of bitterness had been planted and began to flourish. Peonypelt was known for more than just her talent at hunting she was known for her faith in starclan- that was gone. Instead she hated them, all of them. The once pretty cream huntress who's frame was feminine and lean had been replaced with a feline who looked nearly nothing like her. Almost all bones, her fur disheveled and caked in mud, her eyes that were once the clearest shade of blue imaginable were now cloudy, like the eye of the storm. She laid hunched in the mud, her tail curled around her malnourished frame and her head plopped in the soggy soil. Peonypelt had never been an apathetic being before, but now she lacked all enthusiasm. She couldn't will her muscles to move even if she tried. The mud too thick to free herself from and her body too starved of energy to do much other than breathe. She gazed around, blackness consumed her gaze and she gave out the ever so often chirp- which sounded more like a kit's broken mewl than it did much else.

One of two things would happen, she would be found and ushered back to whatever remained of camp or she would wither away here. She remained unsure of which she wanted more- did she want to leave behind the legacy of a fearsome huntress who let no prey escape her paws or did she want to become the warrior who went blind too young and forced to become an elder because she couldn't cope? A broken sigh escaped Peonypelt's muzzle as she let her head fall once more, the squelch of mud all that she heard as she laid quietly.

Badgertail had spent most of the earliest mornings out and about, she had taken shelter in an abandoned badger's den during the storm and aside from nearly drowning due to the flooding she had come out unscathed. Though that didn't mean her heart had fared well during the storm, the loss of so many members had her reeling, Though when she had found the other survivors the loss had been eased- slightly. Her ears flicked as she stood rigid her jaws parted just the slightest to help her better smell what was around her. She could smell a mouse, and she hoped it was possibly more than one but the chances of such luck were exceedingly low. Nevertheless she crouched, her hind end waggling before the grey and white feline launched herself through the air, her frame landing squarely on the small rodent. Its life was over in seconds and she clutched the small prize in her jaws. Despite her own stomach growling viciously she had caught the scrawny mammal for her apprentice. He specifically made her heart ache, the loss of parents and kin was always a hard one to cope with. She hoped a warm and fresh meal would help his morale.

With her plan set in motion she made her way back to the small clearing they had taken up shelter in, her gaze drifting across the clearing and for a moment she stilled. Truthfully she ought to offer this mouse to someone else but it was in the small moment that the normally golden warrior for rules didn't strictly abide by them and she made a beeline for her apprentice. She neared him cautiously but gave a friendly wave of her tail before she dropped the mouse and pressed her nose to his shoulder, "There is something small, I want you to have energy for whatever we might have to do today. This stays between us." Badgertail's mew was soft and gentle as she sat down, blocking the apprentice and the mouse from prying eyes she gave a soft purr of sorts before her tail curled around her frame and she glanced around them.

Their once beautiful territory had been transformed. The grasses laid bend and broken, the soil waterlogged and thick, and pieces of debris laid haphazardly here and there. The sight made her frown before it quickly vanished to be replaced by one of indifference. The land would recover as would the clan- or so she hoped.

Yarrowstare/Warrior/30 Moons/Tags: None

After cleaning the smell of fresh-kill off her puzzle in a nearby puddle of water, the she-cat exited the only patch of forest on the territory and entered the grass-land. The patrol was no-where to be seen, but she often wandered off on patrols and most of her clanmates stopped trying to stop her from going out on her own by now. Yarrowstare sniffed distastefully at the open moor that lay before her as she always preferred tree-coverage overhead. Forcing her way across the grasslands, she tasted the air for anything that could have survived the terrible storm that happened only days before. The molly decided to take one last whiff of air before she moved on but the scent of rabbit hit her nose. Immediately, the silver tabby dropped into a hunting crouch and made her way to hide behind a small hill. Finding the perfect angle to pounce, the she-cat bolted over the small hill towards the nearest rabbit. Squealing in alarm, the rabbit attempted to escape but failed due to Yarrowstare's speed and advantage of surprise. Killing it with a bite to the neck, the rabbit went limp in her jaws. It was surprisingly plump compared to any other creatures she had seen lately and its fur pattern was quite odd for a rabbit. Maybe it was a two-leg rabbit, the she-cat thought while remembering the one time she saw some two-leg kits playing with an oddly colored rabbit in the grass. Shrugging it off and not putting too much more thought into it, she made her way across the grasslands to try and meet up with the rest of the patrol. If anything, they will be too surprised with her great catch to notice that she had slipped away to eat a mouse for a little while.

Seedwhisker had been wandering for a little while now, finding nothing but a little bit of thyme which he vaguely remembered was good for shock. Feeling defeated at his lack of finding any survivors or prey that he could manage to catch, the old tom was about to turn around and head back to camp before seeing a small shape run over the grasslands and then collapsing. Shocked, he ran as fast as he could over to the shape despite the painful protest in his ancient joints. Finally arriving at the source of the shape, the elder gasped in shock as he saw the muddy outline of one of Slateclan's apprentices, Gullpaw. Frantically, without saying the word, the elder began to clean off some of the mud plastering the apprentices pelt. He could tell Gullpaw was in shock and needed to be dried off as soon as possible. It was then he realized he still had the thyme with him. "Thyme is for shock!", he murmured aloud, "It looks like the stars are shining upon you today little one." The last time he had thyme was when he was a full-grown warrior and the, now lost, medicine cat gave him three leaves. Deciding that two would be a good amount for Gullpaw's smaller frame, he turned to the apprentice and spoke softly aloud "You need to eat these, they will help with the shock." Seedwhisker waited silently for Gullpaw to lick up the thyme leaves before asking, "Now, what happened little one?" The elder sat down wrapping his tail around the apprentices shivering body, waiting patiently for a reply.

the mudded landscape was rather difficult to navigate with certain areas being thick with mud. the tom sighed as he ambled onward, searching for anything other than the smell of mud and grass. so far he had yet to find something and while his own stomach protested, he would not eat himself before bringing food back to the clan, creating a well needed fresh kill pile to feed those that would be helping make up a camp where they were currently located. the tom continued to seek out any scent, one that would bring him closer to some prey, though so far he seemed not to have any luck in this process.

it was then that an idea popped in his head. while the river would be swollen and the current may be faster than normal, it would still hold fish, even if there was debris that needed to be worked around. the tom quickened his pace and then moved in the general direction that he knew the water would be. it did not take him long to get there and the bank was rather muddy, a little difficult to navigate for anyone but the prey would be worth it.

bramblenose was careful of his footing as he reached the water's edge, glancing at the once clear water that was now murky from the amount of debris that was flooded into it from the storm. he eyed the water with green eyes, searching for a flicker of movement or a shadow as he waited, though slightly impatient. the bengal's tail flicked slightly back and forth in anticipation before he saw exactly what he was hoping for. he moved forward with experience behind him as aimed for the spot that the fish would be in by the time he would strike. a soft splash was created as his paws broke the surface and he unsheathed his claws. his pads felt the scaly skin of the fish and he curled his paw to latch his claws into the flimsy animal. he pulled back his paws and the fish landed on the muddy bank. he moved quickly to pick up the flapping animal in the mud before it could slide back into the river from its slick surroundings. moving it further away, he let it flap until it was no more, satisfied that he had now caught something. the tom would have to keep an eye out though, birds were notorious for stealing the prey from them and he was sure they were searching for food too.

she was curled in the mud, lids closed and ears pinned against her skull, the young apprentice was trying her hardest to get the image out of her head as her stomach turned into knots. she heard something approaching and forced herself to open her eyes and look, the last thing she needed was a predator heading her way. gullpaw's amber eyes focused on that of an elder of the clan, heading this way. she was unsure of how he found her but she didn't know if she was relieved or not about it. the last thing she wanted was the questions of why she was so muddy and in her current state.

her normally brown pelt was even darker with the amount of mud that she had collected in her fall and then when she decided to just plop down in it when she could no longer keep her running pace. she heard him gasp, though unsure why unless her appearance was that ragged. the molly felt his tongue running across her pelt, probably in an attempt to get some of the mud off her though she wasn't sure how he would get that soil type taste out of his mouth after the fact.

he was murmuring but she could tell that it was not to her at first but she wasn't paying him enough attention to recognize what he was saying to begin with. when he did speak up and address her, he wanted her to eat something? was he out of his mind? if she ate something now she would only throw it right back up but she supposed she should humor him in the process. the apprentice had licked one leaf up before the question came that was far too early to be asking. she heaved again at the thought of what she saw, nearly losing what she had just swallowed. her stomach was twisting and she wasn't sure if it would stop if she continued to think about lagoonstar's body.

she didn't know how to word her not wanting to discuss it, but eventually, she did break the silence. "i just wanna go home." she muttered softly, her gaze turning towards the grassy landscape, unsure of where that was exactly. she had lost all sense of her direction in the process of running away from the view she had. gullpaw slowly pushed herself up to her paws, leaving the last leaf untouched, not wanting to even eat anything for the time being. yes, the young molly was in a small state of shock but eating wouldn't be wise unless it was something that could ease her stomach and her mind.

the tunnels were rather easy to follow for him, as the ground was soft and now pretty easy to see where it was disturbed for the most part. he continued to track them until the scent of mole finally reached his nose. he grinned, satisfied that his attempt to find food was somewhat growing successful. when the scent was rather strong, he looked around but saw nothing. letting his head lower to the ground, he strained to hear anything underground but heard nothing. grumbling, he began to dig frantically and spotted the weird looking animal. he struggled to grab it as it scrambled away but a claw managed to snag it. with something to eat now, his mood was rather lightened by it.

the sound of a voice made the tom jump and it could be seen as rather comical. when his hot glare turned towards the source, he noticed that it was a cat, though he couldn't tell if it was that of a clan, she held only her scent for now so he was unsure. it wasn't until she approached and open her mouth further that he concluded she was that of a clan cat. looking down at his mole, he pushed it behind him and sat down in front of it, not willing to share anything just yet, should he be asked. only if there was something to gain here would he share his small piece of prey.

bandit waited until she finished and she seemed rather hoping he would know the whereabouts of the clan cats but he honestly didn't. he could lie to her but he felt no need to get this cat even more lost than she already was. "urh. nope, i haven't seen any cats round her. i mean, their scent is being carried by the wind occasionally, last i smelt them was that way." he said, pointing with his paw. she would probably be leaving him be after this statement anyway but he was at least telling that of the truth.

The tabby elder nearly jumped back in shock as Gullpaw seemed to dry-heave after he asked the apprentice what happened. This little one had obviously seen something terrible, he thought as a sick feeling arose in his stomach, I asked her way too soon. Feeling now terribly guilty, the elder nodded at Gullpaw's request to go back home. Before getting on his paws though, he knew he had to make sure the apprentice was fit to travel back as they were a long way from where all their clanmates were. "Are you sure you are fit to travel?" he meowed, "We are a long way from where our clan is sheltering." While waiting for a reply, the elder let his mind wander. What could the apprentice have seen that could make her so shaken up? He couldn't help but turn his head to face the direction in which the apprentice came and his paws itched to travel and see what was up there, but he stayed put. He needed to get Gullpaw to safety, then he could tell the warriors what happened and they could send a patrol. Turning his head back to Gullpaw, he waited for a reply to decide whether they should trek back home or rest.
