- rookstar glanced away from cavetoes as she caught a familiar scent on the early morning breeze. she had to suppress a happy purr that threatened to escape at the sight of her deputy, hickoryskip. I thought she'd been sleeping this whole morning... of course she's been out hunting. I was right to choose her as my deputy. she smiled at the brown tabby she-cat, beckoning her over with a flick of her tail. "good morning, hickoryskip. it looks like we have more than one early morning hunter today." she glanced from her to cavetoes.

flowerstreak looked up at the trees that lined their rocky camp. "I hope that leaf-bare will be kind to us." there was a hint of worry in her tone. prey could become scarce during leaf-bare, and without the river for fish, rockclan suffered greatly. perhaps rookstar would think about challenging that seasons old dispute yet again. she glanced around the camp and saw many cats awake. rookstar was chatting with cavetoes, but there was no sign of any patrols being organized yet. she saw her sister's young apprentice, desertpaw, who had just woken up. "what are you going to do with her today?" she nodded towards the young she-cat. she was a tad envious not to have her own apprentice, but she knew that she would have one in good time.

- mousepaw gave her cousin a reassuring smile. "you're alright. rookstar can be a bit... much sometimes. she's just trying to help you though. maybe we could go out hunting or something so you can relax a bit? I'm not sure if rainfall is taking me out for training today or not, but if he is you could always tag along, too." even though she was a moon younger than her cousin, she still felt protective over him. she didn't want to coddle him too much though because then he would just get more anxious. she was always looking for ways to push him instead, but not too hard. at least, she hoped she wasn't being too hard.

- adderfang watched as the deputy, lynxbane, padded out into the clearing. her gaze was hard and piercing and he frowned slightly. he wondered what she would be like as a leader. he listened to her organize the patrols and smiled slightly at being assigned to lead one. "see ya." adderfang mumbled absentmindedly as he watched blackthorn pad off to join his patrol. he walked over to meet salmonsurge as lynxbane disappeared into a corner of the camp. "hey, salmonsurge. I haven't seen marlinspar yet this morning." his tone was cool and even. he kept his guard up around others and betrayed no emotion as a general rule. salmonsurge was a decent cat though, one that he was happy to patrol with.

"oh, yes, that sounds great! I wonder if we can go hunting in the river today? I wanna practice my techniques more! and I can't wait to battle train today! I think I might've come up with a good surprise attack. I won't tell you about it though cause then it wouldn't be a surprise..." beetlepaw spoke a mile a minute, gazing up at his mentor with sparkling eyes.
