Tallflower stayed still and silent, allowing his apprentice a moment to relax. Only when Ebonypaw replied to him in an unusually soft voice did the silver tom speak. "You have never disappointed me, Ebonypaw. I'm proud to have you as my apprentice."
Sadly Tallflower couldn't force his apprentice to accept his own self-worth, as much as he wished he could. He could only offer support and wait for Ebonypaw to grow into it. That day would arrive eventually, Tallflower was certain. Every warrior deserved to know he belonged in this clan as a valued member.
"Is that a challenge?" He purred, taking Ebonypaw's conviction to 'catch something impressive' and spinning it into a competition. Hopefully it would lighten up hedgehog paws a little. "How about we compete to see who can catch the best prey. We'll be judged on number of kills, size of the prey, and... bonus points for sparrows." Tallflower gave Briarlily a side glance and brief smile. He remembered her mentioning she liked sparrows, why not catch some extra for her?

"Thanks!" Copperpaw beamed at the warriors' light-hearted words, sitting up tall as she puffed out her chest in pride. She noticed she still wasn't as big as Eaglefoot, but it didn't bother her at all. After all, Copperpaw was a growing molly, one day she'd surely be bigger than a fox. It took her a bit to realize a wiry rabbit haunch sat in front of her. Oh! She was supposed to eat. With a grateful purr towards her mentor, Copperpaw dug in, devouring the rest of the rabbit until only its sad little skeleton remained.
Eaglefoot seemed a little taken aback by something, but the russet-furred apprentice had a skull too dense to understand exactly what. She tilted her head and gazed at him in curiosity. Only when he cracked a literal dad joke, taking it in stride, did Copperpaw realize what this was all about. Her face lit up as she nuzzled her mentor.
"Of course Pinefeather's my mum! She taught me everything I know," Copperpaw exclaimed, pride shining in her amber eyes. She was certain it was why Adderstar assigned her such a nice mentor. He just wanted her to feel like part of a family again, didn't he?
"Oh, right... I forgot to ask! Are we doing any battle training today?" She made her best effort to look unsuspicious, which failed of course. Excitement shone on her face and her tail twitched with anticipation.
➵ Cinderwing • molly • senior warrior
➵ Tagged: Zinnadusk, Amberpaw, Featherdust, Littlepaw, possibly Cypresspaw?
Cinderwing chuckled, hearing snippets of Littlepaw's conversation behind her. The bright spirited apprentice was a joy to work with and Cinderwing couldn't wait to hear her warrior name announced. She stayed silent out of respect for Littlepaw and Featherdust's conversation, but her right ear twitched at another young voice - Amberpaw.
"Amberpaw, it may be Adderstar's decision in the end, but there's nothing wrong in daydreaming about the possibilities." Cinderwing purred, her voice a low rumble in her chest. She turned to Littlepaw with a smile, now joining the conversation just out of support for the dark-furred apprentice. "When I was your age, I was certain my name would be Cinderclaw. I was a battle-hungry young 'paw! But I suppose the leader saw something fluffy in me that wasn't just unsheathed claws and battle cries, so I'm Cinderwing now."
She chuckled. "If it was up to me, your name would be Littleblaze! That determination in your eyes is bright like a fire." Dark eyes flicked playfully to Featherdust, wondering if he had a different idea about what his apprentice's name might turn out to be.
They were nearing the border now, and Cinderwing examined the perimeter with a firm gaze. Nothing seemed amiss for the time being, although the marshy earth seemed suspiciously devoid of prey. Had another cat wandered nearby recently..? It seemed unlikely, a myriad of predators could easily have scared the prey away on their own. Alligators, birds of prey circling overhead, all seemed more likely culprits than a fellow feline. But she had to keep her guard up in either case.

Maplecloud shifted uncomfortably in her nest, the cold air pierced through her thick fur and shot stabs of pain through her hind leg. Digging her nose deeper into the soft fluff of her tail she tried to burrow deep enough to ignore the cold. Only when the soft voices of Dawnpetal and Squirrelpaw reached her ears did she give up. Opening her eyes into slits she watched silently as Dawnpetal urged the young medicine cat apprentice to go do apprentice stuff. Her deep amber eyes followed Squirrelpaw as the young molly slipped out of the den and then flicked her gaze to the kind elder. Heaving herself to her paws she hobbled a few steps till she was next to the elderly molly. Stretching her neck forward she opened her jaws to snatch up a couple of the daisy leaves and began to chew them into a paste like she had seen Heavybelly do several times. Once the paste was good enough she spat it into her paws and wordlessly began to work the past into Dawnpetals hind legs while older cat rubbed it into their forelegs. Between the two of them it didn't take long for Dawnpetal to be plastered with the paste. Drawing back she looked over her handywork and nodded towards Dawnpetal. Usually she would have spoken to the older cat but the cold had worked its way deep into her hind leg and was causing her to much pain for her open her jaws. Once again she heaved herself to her paws and this time hobbled out into the camp. As she shouldered her way out of the den she noticed the hunting patrol lingering by the camp entrance. The patrol must have left recently. Her gaze flickered to the fresh kill pile and couldn't help but notice how pitifully small it was. Her idea of heading out to hunt was starting to sound like a good plan, the pain in her leg would ease if she started moving more. With that thought she made her way to a sunny spot near the elders den and sat down. Her hind leg jutted out awkwardly and she curled her tail around the opposite side. She just needed a moment to collect herself before she headed out, she also needed to find someone who would be willing to go with her. Tallflower, her usual hunting partner, was on the hunting patrol so she would have to find someone else.

Crowpaw

Waiting for Palemoth/Nektar~
Pinefeather
═══════════════ molly - warrior - mentoring: Copperpaw tags: Copperpaw, Eaglefoot
She snorted at the male's comment- in her defense, there were a lot of felines out and about. Directing her attention towards the smaller molly, she grinned at how fast Copperpaw chowed the meat down signalling she was pretty hungry. Pinefeather glanced back at Eaglefoot looking at the feathers he saved ' That's very thoughtful of you Eaglefoot. Thank you, I would love that-' she started afterwards ears perking up to the teasing started by the smaller feline. Pinefeather laughed at the shocked face of the tom and the quirkiness of Copperpaw, as her apprentice nuzzled towards her, the larger molly licked her head with a grin ' Oho? If I'm the mom, then get ready to be bathed you dirty kit! '
After a bit of laughter and fun, the older molly stood up stretching and letting out a yawn. ' Well, if its battle training you want, then battle training is what we'll do. Would you like to join us Eaglefoot? that is- if you don't have any patrols or plans? ' she questioned trying to be as subtle as possible, admittedly she was silently hoping the tom could join them- ' of course for training purposes and Eaglefoot could give a lot of pointers! ' she mumbled and reasoned with herself.
Cypresspaw
═══════════════ Tom - Loner - tags: open - location: outskirts of the reedclan, the reedclan
Cypresspaw was enjoying himself, the atmosphere in a clan is definitely different than what he's used to. Here it seems like there's more life and less dangers while outside felt like a battle for survival and often times death. He sighed, recalling his time back at his old clan afterwards shaking his head. That was in the past, there's no point in hoping for something that's gone, for something that's dead. The tom stopped to clear his head out of the thoughts, this is no time to be dwindling over such matters, he is inside clan borders and he has to stay alert.
Cypresspaw knows that he shouldn't wander too far so he continued circling next to the dense and tall dark grass under the shade of the trees. From his position, he could smell the various prey lingering around, but he knows that if he starts hunting the clan members will get alerted. For now he stayed under the shade slowly advancing deeper into the clan- Cypresspaw was enjoying the sight seeing too much to notice a twig in front of him, the large tom stepped on it which alerted some of the birds on the tree.
He yelped lowly before looking around for a place to hide or atleast stay for the time being. Running a few meters away from where he currently was, he quickly climbed the tree settling himself on one of the thicker branches. ' You've done it now you idiot ' he grumbled, hoping that there weren't any felines around.
Gentlefern
═══════════════ Molly - Senior Warrior - tags : Maplecloud, Open
After her sip, the molly eyed the water for ripples and small waves that prey emit- there were a few so she waited patiently for another one. With careful steps, Gentlefern eyed the source before pouncing, unfortunately missing because of her slipping. The senior warrior- now wet top to bottom grumbled to herself before trying once again. Thankfully this time, it was a success. The molly pounced back towards dry land and with the fish in her jaws, she headed towards the kill pile.
Nearing the area however, her eyes drifted towards a warrior of a feline-a molly at that just outside a den. Gentlefern trotted towards her and placed the meat infront of the Maplecloud ' Food is a little scarce and the pile is depleting fast but I had a successful hunt so .. ' she trailed off and gestured to the piece, normally the female prefers to be alone however times are tough and Gentlefern understands that we need support one another to survive, physically or not.

Maplecloud's attention was captured by a cream colored molly padding towards her a fish clenched in their jaws. She watched curiously as they approached her and dropped the fish at her feet. A rush of warmth ran from the tips of her paws to the points of her ears, she knew the clan would look after her even now that she was a warrior but it was a nice reminder when they did things like this. Dipping her head gratefully she crouched over the fish taking a bite before nudging it towards Gentlefern with her nose. "Its delicious, won't you share it with me?" she purred nudging the fish once more. As much as she loved the offer she didn't want to take precious food away from the warriors. Hunters like Gentlefern would need at the food they could get if they were to continue to hunt for the clan. Not that the elders or queens should starve, no it was more than she knew that she should be out hunting with them. She made a mental note to head out as soon as possible to hunt, bad leg or not the clan needed food.
