Cian Finn - The Performer
- Cian (pronounced Kee-en) was born and raised in Cork, Ireland. From a lower-income family, and not much in the way of having access to the arts, Cian didn't have his first exposure to theatre until he had moved to the US at the age of 12 - his US-born father following what was meant to be a lucrative job opportunity for the company he worked for, who also paid for the relocation to even make it possible. While the job was not as lucrative as thought, it was still just enough to get by. While attending school, Cian ended up being roped into the middle school's show - mostly because there weren't enough male students for it and he was new, so unable to quite avoid being roped into it - but surprisingly ended up enjoying being part of the show, and with a little bit of coaching from the director, had quite the talent and singing voice.

- From there, the rest was history. Although his parents couldn't afford for him to take part in any local youth theatre groups, since it was free to be in the school shows, that was what he stuck with. Cian was encouraged by his music teacher and the theatre teacher to apply for scholarships to get into a performing arts college - but this was something his parents were opposed to, wanting Cian to focus on studying something that would get him a good career. Cian took his chances, and was awarded with a couple of scholarships and grants that would help him attend a performing arts college, by the end of which, he had a few offers from agents. Now, for the past four years, he has been a part of an established New York theatre company, often taking the role of a male lead, taking over from the previous actor, who'd left for a different opportunity. Cian has worked hard to get to where he is, and has garnered quite the popularity and following online.

- Cian is a warm, gentle soul, and has an outgoing, bright energy. He's known to be sociable, and his presence - or lack thereof - is often noticed. He's a bit of a romantic at heart, but has trouble having the confidence to express any romantic gestures or feelings. However, he is a brilliant actor, and puts his heart and soul into each performance and character that he is cast as. He is patient and hardworking, although he does tend to struggle a bit with setting boundaries, often letting himself be uncomfortable just to let someone else be happy. Despite that, though, he does find himself with more confidence to address something if someone else is being made uncomfortable - especially if he is close to them.

- Cian maintains his Cork accent naturally, but he is able to also speak and sing with general British and American accents.
- He stands at 6'0'', and tends to stand with a slightly relaxed, though not slouchy, posture, although will stand more awkwardly rigid when uncomfortable.
- Does not often get to see his family, since they live quite far apart, but keeps in contact with them.

MATTYxxxx

└─────────┘
spacerOpening night. The lights were low, the audience's chatter roared through the theater's dome. Opening night was a familiar feeling; the heat of hundreds of bodies hurriedly finding their seats, and a strange emptiness in the main rooms where people had evacuated for the show. Down every hall was a nervous actor in the greenroom panicking about a wardrobe malfunction, women in curlers and gaudy stage makeup prancing to the bathroom with a quick snack. Matthias Williams had experienced opening night after opening night, to the point that they were no longer nerve racking. They were just any old night, with a few more hiccups than usual. No different than a full moon, the superstitions stayed all the same. Nerves were present, but he'd learned that the fear of failure wouldn't kill him. One missed note in the course of his life-long career would mean nothing the longer he performed. He was a second violin in the Devotion Orchestra Collective, and loved the position since he auditioned for it two years ago. To this day, Mr. Williams Sr. would berate Matthias for being second, when first was the strongest player with the most money coming in. Matthias didn't care for being first, all he cared about was playing and creating something he loved.
spacerHe and his fellow violinists were gathered backstage, talking about what they wanted to do over the weekend if tonight's outing didn't devastate their livers.
spacer"Are you going, Matty?" asked Audrey, one of his fellow second violinists. Matty hadn't payed much attention to her words exchanged with John from 'Cello', and his face showed it all. Alexa chuckled and patted his arm. "To our outing tonight, remember?"
spacerMatty paused, uncertain about the details. He didn't think they mattered too much, so he nodded his head and bowed a bit toward her in agreement. "Yes, that," he paused before continuing: "Probably, but I'll give you a definite answer by intermission." Matty then turned to John with a brow arched. "It's nearly time, shouldn't you be with your section, John?" He asked.
spacer"Yeah, I'm going there now. There's Alexa, too. Watch out. If we're slackin' she'll have our behinds." John scoffed, waddling away to be with his section as he muttered on about the nuisance of Alexa's presence. John was a scruffy fellow with elongated limbs a narrow torso that nearly disappeared when he turned parallel. John and Alexa had been dating for seven years, engaged to be married for four of those. They were a sweet couple, often having Matty over to eat dinner. They were always keeping the sections young and lively, planning group outings and even managing to get management to pay for it as a "team building exercise". Matty wasn't half as good as they were at planning events. He loved to go out, but relied on others to get the gears oiled.

spacerNow, it was time for the show. One by one the musicians rolled into their designated areas, instruments in hand as they sat down and situated themselves into a comfortable spot. Matty's designated seat was next to Joel, who was a new hire filling an old man named Curt's spot. Joel was always hyper and sometimes after like a fly in Matty's ear. He nervously leaned into Matty and began to stutter about his excitement for opening night, but there was something strange about the way he spoke. He didn't seem excited at all, rather his enthusiasm seemed negative masked by a joyous tone. Matty arched a brow, looking at Joel for a moment before it struck him: this was Joel's first opening night. Everything had been a rehearsal all this time.
Matty smiled and leaned in, resting his violin on his shoulder.
"Nothing I could say will take away the nervousness, but it really is just rehearsal with some extra people. Don't look at them, look at the music. Look at the stage. This is for something bigger than you. Don't let your fear of failing yourself get in the way of a city having a fun night." Though his words were harsh, he had a kind tone. Sometimes fear can be selfish, and the orchestra was a collective effort for many. That was what came first. Joel would come to learn that.

spacerIn unison, all the sections began to tune their instruments. The crowd began to quiet, not certain if the music was starting. Fog erupted from every corner, filling the orchestra as the instruments voices sang to be heard.
The conductor supported and guided them all, and after only a few minutes of tuning they were ready to start. The lights were moody and the audience held their breath with anticipation; eyes glued onto the blue lit stage. Rob, their conductor, fixed the tail on his suit and brought his hands up.

spacerMatty looked at the thin wand in Robert's hand, clutching his violin bow tightly as he waited for his cue. Rob's arms slowly lowered, and the first Violins began to play a drawn out key that built the ground for the seconds. Matty quickly chimed in, playing the second key with his compatriots. Joel effortlessly joined the second violinists as if this was his hundredth opening night, just as Matty expected. All instruments flooded in, vibrating the room with their suspense. Finally, the first key played and the song raced off. Effortlessly the sections instruments collaborated and made a classic song, preparing the first scene to introduce the actors.

spacerReally, it was fun to hear the actors dialogue in between sets. When the protagonist and their love interest got into arguments over petty ordeals and personal beliefs; it was fun for Matty to hear and think about the imaginative narratives the plays carried. As the show wrapped up, the final scene had a soft rejoice among the characters. Matty firmly gripped his bow once more, feeling the passion of the characters in his chest. He carried that feeling, working all of it into every note he played. The curtains fell, and the orchestra droaned on just a bit longer before silencing. A wave of applause erupted from the audience, from the observation decks and rising seats, happy cheers and whistles came from every wall. It was painful, how loud the audience's applause was. That was what an artist craved. The lingering ringing from a viewers enjoyment.
spacerThe actors came on stage once more, taking their coordinated bows before leaving for the final time. The audience swiftly took their coats in hand and began to exit, as did the musicians with their instruments in had funnel backstage.

spacer"Great job, Joel!" Audrey exclaimed, patting him on the back of the head. "See you had nothing to worry about," Matty remarked, gently clutching his instrument toward himself. They navigated in a slow march to the prep room, where Matty returned his violin to it's home of the famous black casing.
spacerAround the corner came another girl from his section, Leigh, as she called out his name and hugged her violin case to her chest. "We're starting at Jammer's. You coming?" She asked.
spacerMatty paused, locking his case and setting it where they all stored instruments between shows. "Yeah," he smiled, taking Leigh's violin and putting it away too. "I'll come for a bit. I'll have to keep it an early night, though. Sheldon's been home alone since this morning."

spacerOut they went, leaving their instruments in storage. If you couldn't tell by now, most sections got close to only their section. It was rare for a second violin and the brass instruments to hang out, but not unheard of. John and Audrey were a great example of two alternate worlds becoming one.
spacerSo the second violinists and cello players (because John was a cello) started at Jammer's, a pub down the road. Everyone had a drink or two, and ran into some other members of the orchestra. People filtered in and out, chatting to their friends from different sections, but mostly stayed with their people for the night.
spacerMatty got a bit of grub and drinks, but turned in at a reasonable time and headed for the subway.
spacerHe said his beloved farewells to Audrey and John, then pulled his long wool coat over his suit. He shoved his hands in his pockets, braving the crispy air, hastily walking in the direction of the nearest subway. New York always had something going on, but night was the strangest time. Incoherent individuals meandering through the street, and it wasn't easy to know what was going on with them. Individuals goading you for attention so they could rob you, or perfectly normal individuals out for a stroll with their dog. He found it best to keep his head down and avoid confrontation either way.

spacerHe stepped downstairs and entered the realm of the subway, where the people below New York got even stranger. He refused eye contact and quietly badged his way through, standing at the next stop. Thankfully, his train came by quickly and he had little to wait for. He waited for the exiting folk, then slid between the doors and found himself a seat nearby, facing the sliding door of the shuttle. As he settled into his chair, Matty noticed a young man stumble through the door as it nearly closed on him. He wobbled to the chairs nearby, then plopped himself down with a heavy sigh. Matty figured he'd had too much that night and was probably a bit confused, and thought little of it. But as he looked at the man's pale face and tired expression, and as the train came to about three minutes away from the exit, Matty couldn't help but worry for him. Would he get home alright? It was hard to say. Matty considered following him to his next exit to walk him home, but backpedaled as he considered the connotations of following an individual home. It wasn't until the man stood up and swayed on the bar as they approached Matty's exit. Without second thought, Matty got up and stood next to the unnamed stranger, offering a hand out to shake. "Hi, I'm Matty. U-uh, y-you know, this is my exit as well." He paused, putting his hand into his pocket after his introduction was over with. "This might seem odd, but I wanted to ask: would you like for me to walk you home? I mean nothing by it, I'd just like to see you get home safely." He prayed that his sincerity could be heard, and that the man wouldn't assume the worst of Matthias. But the deepest part of Matty's soul couldn't let someone impaired go home without someone to them to their door.

Cian stood in the wings, one of the off-stage techs double-checking his microphone was fitted and secured properly, looking out onto the stage, the set for the beginning scene prepared, and the curtain waiting to raise. He could hear the chattering of the audience steadily getting louder as the auditorium filled up. He took a deep breath, steadying his nerves that always seemed to flare up on opening night for any show. Five minutes to places.
"You're all ready, Cian." a soft voice, almost motherly in tone, said behind him. Cian turned towards the other actress - Melanie, one of the older cast members, and she watched over each of the other actors like a hawk. Cian nodded in agreement - there was no disagreeing with Melanie, because everything she said was right. He was ready.

With a few minutes to go, he, Melanie and the other actors that were starting this side of the wings - Zachary, Grace, Allie and Waylon - gathered in a small circle, holding hands and bowing their heads. "We thank the theatre Gods for blessing us so that we can tell this story tonight." Melanie said, and the rest of the circle repeated the sentiment, just before the two minute call was announced, and the group broke to get ready for the beginning of the show. Cian and Grace, along with a few other actors from the other side of the wings, took their starting places on stage. Cian listened for the overture, the audience quickly quieting down as the show began to start, and the curtain rose. It was time.

Cian had been complimented on his chemistry with Grace before, despite the two of them being gay, although only the other knew that, but he knew that they especially had chemistry tonight - the director had often complimented the two of them for this during rehearsals. Every emotion was believable, drawing from a memory or thought. One of his favourite moments was him picking up Grace and spinning her around like two giddy young lovers, reuniting after a long time. And then the emotional scenes, which took a lot out of him, before getting to the happy ending - before which had a scene of Grace's character saving Cian's character, as a flip on the typical guy saving the girl.

Cian grinned brightly as he stared out at the audience, the cheers and claps of a standing ovation ringing out - the cheers getting louder briefly for each cast member that took their bow, Cian included. He'd done it - another successful opening night. He knew that he wouldn't have made any mistakes, but there was always that concern in the back of his mind, especially during the opening night of any new show he was in. Then, the cast gestured down towards the orchestra pit, to ensure the orchestra also had their applause and appreciation. Cian glanced down into the orchestra pit as he clapped as well, before finally departing the stage.

Back in his dressing room, Cian changed back into his normal outfit, and took a few minutes to decompress. He'd expended a lot of energy in his performance, and the adrenaline of it being opening night was quickly fading. He was planning to meet with some of the other cast, and they'd go together to a small venue nearby that the company had rented out for the night, for the cast and crew to attend an opening night after-party that was due to continue late into the night. He was quite looking forward to getting some time to relax and let loose, after several weeks of rehearsals and not really being able to relax at all. And... hopefully get out before Alexa stopped off at his dressing room. She didn't typically, since she preferred to get home before even 7pm, but because it was opening night, he suspected that she was sticking around. Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in!" Cian called out, and Zachary poked his head round the door. "Ready to go, Cian? I heard Alexa is just having a meeting with the lighting and sound heads and then she'll be on her way over." he asked, and Cian nodded, standing up and gathering the rest of his things. "Yes - let's go." He agreed, and Zachary laughed and the two went out, meeting with the other actors, and then signing out at the door before leaving.

Arriving at the venue, the party was already in full swing, most of the other cast having already arrived. Cian made sure he went around to each of the other cast members, including the ensemble, having a few drinks as he did so, soaking in the celebration. Soon enough, though, he realised that he had to make a move - that, and Melanie informed him that Alexa had arrived at the celebrations, so she walked with him to the exit, while some of the other cast occupied Alexa. After saying their goodbyes for the evening, Cian walked to the nearest subway station, his mind a slight haze as a mix from the drinks and the sudden loud music and talking shifting to the relative quiet of the New York streets.

Getting down onto the platform, Cian saw that the train had arrived, the doors still open. He'd have to run, but... ah, he didn't really want to wait for the next one. He stumbled through the door, just before they closed, almost tripping over, but he caught onto a handrail. He took a moment to steady himself, barely noticing that there was anyone else in the carriage as well, and then moved to sit down. Phew - he hadn't quite realised just how tired he was. He listened for each stop, and waited until after the train left the stop before his one, and then stood up, leaning on the bar.
And then - someone stood next to him, offering a hand and introducing himself. Cian looked towards the other man. Where did he recognise him from..? His memory failed him, but that wasn't the most important thing right now. "Cian," he replied, shaking the offered hand. He raised an eyebrow at the offer, but... well, it was very late, and he was very tired. "...I appreciate it, thank you. Don't normally stay out this late."

Just then, the train slowed to a halt at the next exit - his exit. "This is it," Cian said, and moved to step off the train, and walking back up to the street.

MATTYxxxx

└─────────┘
spacerCian. He had a particular fullness in his words that lead Matty to believe he might be Scottish- no, Irish. Cian was an Irish name. Matty smiled, pleased to hear that Cian was warm about being walked home. "Great, thank you!" He huffed, walking off the train with him. Matthias started to wonder what Cian did for a living, if he wasn't usually out so late. Granted, it was a Friday night. But if he wasn't partying - was he a quieter young man with a comfortable job? He seemed put together, especially so for being impaired. As Cian walked toward the stairs, Matty hung at his side with his arm hovering just behind Cian. He was prepared for him to take a tumble, but to Matty's surprise he ambulated up the stairs and navigated the sidewalks well! He let his guard down a big, giggling just a little bit at the very-capable stranger.
spacer"My goodness, you're getting on well." He remarked, looking at the skyscrapers around them. He slowed for a moment, watching his breath plume in the air as the chill grew with the rising moon.
spacer "So, let's see - which way are you? Toward Banks or River street?" Matty had a one bedroom apartment down Banks Avenue, and it wasn't large but it was still plenty expensive. But it had original, (albeit cracked) crown molding, and was dog-friendly for dear Sheldon. He looked to Cian as he headed toward his 'home', and Matty walked with him in that direction. As they carried on, Matty took a good look at Cian's face. He didn't look terribly familiar, but his voice was painfully familiar. There was a depth in his words that felt like deja-vu to Matty; but he just couldn't recall. One thing Matty knew about Cian was that the semi-stranger a great side profile, that was for sure. Matty brushed the inkling of similarity off as nothing and decided to relish in Cian's kindness at the very least. He didn't seem like the murdering type, and that was all Matty could ask for when walking a drunk.. not so drunk.. stranger home in the dark. Come to think of it, was Cian really that drunk? He didn't smell foul or stumble more like he had in the train. Maybe the walking wore things off?
spacerHe didn't fret over it, but grew tired of the whirring taxis and cars on the street beside them as they marched on and decided talking might tune them out.
spacer"Erm, well, where are you coming from? I don't stay out much later than this, either. I was coaxed by some friends and coworkers to go to Jammer's. You know, the one down the street from the theater? Have you ever been?" He began to ramble, feeling a deep need to fill the quiet air between the two.

Now that he'd been able to take a moment to sit and not have to really think about anything - and being back in the fresh air (well, as fresh as it could be) on the street - Cian started to feel much better. Still tired, but not quite so dazed. And the drinks he'd had were already beginning to wear off.
At the other's remark, Cian managed a smile. "Why thank you. Helps I've had a minute to rest," he replied, letting out a long breath, just to see the plume in the cold air, before answering Matty's question, "Oh, I'm down River Street. I don't think I'd be able to afford something down Banks."

His studio apartment was fairly small, and he'd gotten a good deal from the landlord of the building - a free ticket here and there was a more than fair exchange for a discount on his rent. It worked for him, though, and he'd been able to add a few touches to make it feel like his own place. Despite being there for four years, it still didn't quite feel like home, though.

Cian glanced towards the other man a few times as they walked, trying to figure out where he'd seen the other before. It seemed that perhaps they were strangers, since Matty didn't seem to recognise him, but there was just something in the back of his mind that was trying to remember. It was only when Matty had started asking where he was coming from, mentioning Jammer's and the theatre that was near it, did the penny begin to drop. It was almost too good to be just a coincidence. Cian raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I know Jammer's. I was about a block away, a little venue, Rendezvous," he replied, and he couldn't help but laugh lightly at being asked if he'd ever been to that theatre - or, perhaps, Jammer's, but still. "I... actually work in that theatre. It was opening night tonight, otherwise I'd already be home by now."
Opening night... wait. He stopped, and not just because they'd arrived outside of the building his apartment was in.

spacerMatty chuckled at Cian's remark about Banks price rate. It was true, it was a little bit more expensive. But Matty couldn't cope with the idea of a studio - especially if he ever planned to have a partner while he was in New York. (Which, he anticipated would be for awhile)

spacerThe two grew more and more suspicious of each other. Matty caught Cian's glances, and Cian caught Matty's glances. Matthias thought Cian recognized him somehow too, but neither wanted to pull the trigger and ask such a question. But it became evidently clear they knew each other the moment Cian remarked about Jammer's and 'working at the theater'. They stopped simultaneously at the sidewalk, and Matty's hands escaped his pockets as a pointed finger arose and was directed at Cian.
spacer"You work in that theater?" Matthias huffed, his jaw agape as he looked at Cian's face. It made sense now, why his voice sounded familiar. He must have been an actor from the show. "The theater on 1243 Main street, with the little globe lights and the bright sign with a letter that burnt out today? You work there?" His voice had a sense of urgency as the unwavering shock rattled his brain - how small the world was, afterall. Not only did they work in the same place, but Cian stumbled into the train and lived off the same exit as Matthias too. Only minutes ago he was a stranger, and now it felt like he'd almost stumbled into an old friend of sorts.
spacerA wide smile tugged at Matty's thin lips, as he did only what he saw fit: reintroduce himself. "Matthias Williams," He said cooly as he offered his hand for Cian to shake. "Second violinist of the Devotion Orchestra Collective, located in 1243 Main street's one and only theater." After, he took away his hand and ran his fingers through his hair, wedging his palms in his pockets again. "Small world. Small world. Well," He hummed. "It was a fantastic show, great turnout, don't you think?"

Cian nodded slowly, in confirmation that he worked at the theatre Matty was talking about. That was it. He knew the other had seemed familiar - he must also work at the theatre. He suspected as part of the orchestra, given he would have certainly remembered if he had been a part of the cast or crew that had attended the gathering at Rendezvous. He was sure that they'd been invited, but it seemed the musicians and actors were in two different worlds.
He must, he realised, have also seen Matty taking the same train and getting off the same exit, but given they'd never had a real conversation before, so Cian had not given it much thought. Well - that changed everything. They had a very big thing in common and suddenly they were no longer strangers. That was exciting to Cian. "I do indeed." He grinned, unable to quite believe it - was it some sort of fate or destiny? He didn't really believe in that sort of thing, but this felt like something caused it.

Shaking Matty's hand as he reintroduced himself, Cian returned the favour. "Cian Finn, resident lead tenor/baritone of Orchid's Theatre Company. Also located in 1243 Main Street's Theatre."
He nodded in agreement. "It certainly was. A full house, I believe." Thinking back to earlier in the evening, the energy from the audience had just been electric, and he thought that always helped lend itself to the show, knowing how excited the audience were. "Er... well - thank you for walking me back. This is actually my building here." he gestured towards the building they were stood in front of.

┌─────────┐
MATTYxxxx

└─────────┘
spacerMatty almost lost his footing as Cian introduced himself fully. Lead Tenor! Not only was Cian a part of the acting crew, but he was the very center focus. Matty was sure he just couldn't recognize Cian without his stage makeup all this time - but deep down he feared it was just plain ignorance on his part. He rarely looked at the actors, as the lighting was harsh from the orchestra.
spacerCian's awkward farewell pulled Matty from the basket of thoughts that wove itself in his skull. He stepped back, looking at the building. "Ah," he breathed, running the back of his hand over his chapped lips. He'd seen this building plenty of times, but had never been inside or seen Cian coming in or out of it. He looked at Cian once more, wishing the night wasn't so late already. Something made Matty want to talk and talk and talk; perhaps it was the fondness of a new person so closely related to him. Maybe it was because Cian had an alluring face.. and life.. well everything. Matty thought how nice it would be to have another friend beyond Audrey and John and the second violin section. Someone who didn't jut play music for their life. Someone interesting, someone new.
spacerHe shook the thoughts away and nodded, stepping back and waving Cian on. "Right, yeah, it's very late. I'm down on Bank street, so we're practically neighbors." Matty scoffed. "I'll see you, tomorrow I suppose. Ha-ha" he laughed, utterly bewildered at the coincidence of their lives. Matty started walking back in the direction they came from, but for only a few steps before he spun on his heel and called out Cian's name as he climbed the stairs.
"Cian, my colleagues in the orchestra go out to Jammer's pretty often. Feel free to join us whenever you'd like. They're a fun crowd." He looked at him once more, then waved his goodbye. Matthias turned around once more and set out for home.

spacerA short and brisk walk in solitude later, Matty arrived at his apartment. He stepped up the three stairs and pushed through the revolving door, taking his key and collecting his mail at the boxes before pursuing the elevator. The main floor of his complex was grand, fanciful, shiny and golden. Marble floors clacked underneath his dress shoes, and the elevator made a particular 'chirp' that you'd associate with the most luxurious hotel. Matty often joked that his rent went toward the renovations for downstairs, as when he approached floor number six he was met with his infamous apartment 3214: It wasn't luxury by any means. The door needed to be lifted as he opened it, or else it dragged on the wood and would have cost him his security deposit. The wooden floorboards groaned as Sheldon excitedly bound from their bedroom, greeting Matty with a tick-tacky dance and a flappy tail that hit the wall.
spacer"Hi buddy, yes, hi! Hello, yes, quiet down, people are sleeping." Matty walked into the kitchen, Sheldon closely underfoot as he waited for his much anticipated bedtime walk. "Walk!" Matty said softly. "Yes! Walk, go grab the leash, bud." He pointed to the room, and Sheldon quickly ran and grabbed his leash. "Let's keep it short, little man." he yawned, lazily clasping the leash onto Sheldon's collar.
spacerMan and dog hurried outside, Sheldon excitedly leading the way and sniffing anything he could reach. Matty followed him, hoping he would do his business shortly. The hour got later and later, with talking and realizing he was walking a lead actor home from the subway.
spacerSheldon started looking for a place to make messy, circling and sniffing in a pile of leaves by the curb. Matty sighed and tucked himself against a tree, pulling his phone out to pass the time. Then, he had a curious idea. He opened google and looked up "Cian Finn", and willingly leapt down the digital rabbit hole while Sheldon did his work.
Numerous articles upon articles, varying subject matter, on his very own 'stranger' Cian Finn. There were also a good amount of women and men gushing over him on different socials too. Matty cracked a smile and locked his phone, tucking it away for the rest of the night.
spacer"Alright, wrap it up dude, let's head home." Matty said to Sheldon. The two walked back the block or so they'd circled and headed back upstairs. Matty unleashed Sheldon, and hastily shed his heavy coat and draped it over the coat hook. He began undoing his tie, then dropped the blazer, kicked off his shoes and changed into gym shorts and an old band tee. Matty brushed his teeth, staring at his puffy dark under-eyes as he replayed the exciting evening in his head. Once he'd wrapped up and had a swig of water, Matty stumbled into bed and fell asleep in minutes.

spacerThe very next morning, Matty rose with the sun. Rather, he rose with the Sheldon. A series of wet and sloppy kisses pulled him out of a fantastical dream, followed by a childish giggle from Matty as he eagerly pet Sheldon.
"Good morning Sheldon, might you be so hungry?" He scoffed, rolling out of bed. Matty walked to the kitchen and filled Sheldon's bowl, topped off his water, and drank some water himself. Then he brushed his teeth and rinsed off quickly. Sheldon grew impatient in the mornings, needing a potty break before eight in the morning or else he'd spitefully pee on the bed. For being an old man, he gave Matty a run for his money with his boundless energy and diva-tendencies.

spacerA shower later, a Sheldon-centered walk later, and Matty relaxed for just a bit before returning to the theater. During a show's season, the actors, staff, and musicians were all terribly busy. Long days that went into long nights, no matter how many times the show went on without a hitch they needed to practice all of the show often.

spacerMatty often headed in early to grab his things after a show and make sure it was all accounted for if he didn't take it home the night of. It wasn't uncommon for Joel or Leigh to confuse their belongings with other's, and a lot of accidental burglaries occurred because of those two. But most of the orchestra started filing in and gathering their things, too. Apparently everyone had gotten an early start that day.
