goldenheart

the sun was high in the sky, a few wisps of clouds surrounded it but did nothing to shade its heat. the only relief was the shadows the cliff provided the beach below. goldenheart stood on a path in the side of the cliff where oceanclan called it's home. the pathway was made of stone eroded long ago, connecting the small caves in the cliff. she had just returned from a hunting patrol. the clan hunted for their prey in two areas of their territory; on the cliff side and in the ocean. she'd managed to catch a couple of birds that had landed on outcroppings. she'd already added them to the fresh kill pile before making her way up the path, she wanted to take a moment to relax before they traveled to the clan gathering.
goldenheart padded towards the top of the cliff, there was a perfect ledge to doze on where the sun hit just right. she'd been to many clan gatherings since becoming an apprentice, she always liked to get a nap in before traveling. her paws made no sound on the hardened sand and stone beneath her, generations of cats having worn it down. her sleek tan pelt kept her hidden among the cliff, only a keen eye would be able to spot her. the path ended before the ledge, it was a little higher up with a couple of tail lengths of space between them. she tensed her back legs and pushed off the ground over the gap and onto the ledge. the sun had been warming it all day, the heat soaked into her paw pads instantly. she raised her nose to the sun and sniffed the air; it smelled like sea foam and her clan. goldenheart turned in a circle before laying with her body stretched to touch as much of the stone and sun as possible.
in her relaxed state, she let her mind wander. to the twolegs and their strange monsters near their territory. they were building strange den looking things, she wondered what it meant for her clan. she was sure it would be the main conversation at the gathering tonight, shoreclan had to have noticed them as well, they were loud during the day, it'd been scaring off the land prey and birds making it harder to hunt on the cliffs. she flicked her ears, listening the noise of the cats. she wasn't too far from the dens and cats were milling around after the patrols has returned. a queen could be heard scolding a kit who'd ventured too close to the edge. they were near enough the sandy beach below that a kit wouldn't be hurt too bad if they took a tumble. queens still tried to keep them near the den though.
whitestar

a small stream flowed into a small pool in the center of the cave. cats gathered around it, sharing tongues and eating fresh kill. whitestar looked out over the scene, blinking his amber eyes slowly. he sat on a stone ledge overlooking the cave, his den behind him and a stone path off to the side. he'd been the clan's leader for many moons now, getting the position earlier than most. the previous leader had lost all his nine lives during a bout of bad sickness. whitestar had since given everything to his clan and watched over them like they were his children.
he was about to call a clan meeting before the gathering, to pick who he'd be taking. the patrols were back so all cats were within camp. his eyes rested on each cat as he looked over the cave. who would he be taking with him to travel to the edge of their territory where the clan gathering place was located. it was a larger version of their camp, a cave with a pool in it. the meeting place had a skylight at the top though, allowing the moon's rays to wash the cave in light. once a moon, during the full moon, the two clans would meet to discuss any business that concerned both of them or to announce big clan events. most cats enjoyed going and be able to socialized with each other. whitestar dreaded it this moon, he'd seen the twolegs moving into the areas next to their territories. it was a terrifying idea to think what would happen if they moved closer. but the clans needed to plan for it. would they have to lose part of their territories? would they have to move? what did starclan have in store for them? the white tom had too many questions and not enough answers to feel comfortable discussing it with others.
he bowed his head and took in a deep breathe. his haunches were tense, the fur on his neck struggling to lay down. he closed his eyes and took in another breathe, steadying himself. he opened his eyes and step towards the edge of the ledge he stood on.
would all cats old enough to gather please gather below. his voice was deep and gravely, it carried throughout the cave.
mistyflower

the waves crashed onto the beach, the sea foam leaping into the air when it clapped the sand. the tide was too high and too violent to swim, only a foolish cat would risk the current and being dragged out to sea. mistyflower may be a rambunctious cat, but she wasn't a fool. she sat far enough back from the water that the foam would not touch her, her claws digging into the soft loose sand beneath her.
she'd be going to her first clan gathering as a warrior tonight. she'd cross the territory with her clan by the light of the moon and greet other cats she'd only known as an apprentice. an excited and almost nervous energy was building in her chest, she wanted to show off her new warrior name. the she-cat was proud of her name, though she would have chosen a scarier one like claw or talon. their leader had chosen flower for her dreamy nature. a flower was there one season and gone the next, signifying mistyflower's longing to explore and her mind always being far away.
mistyflower looked down at the sand, it was almost white and so fine it was like dust. behind her tall cliffs where her camp and dens were. she'd never been scared of the cliffs, she'd climbed over the edge as a kit once, the farthest she'd ever gotten before becoming an apprentice. her mother had been furious and had yanked her back over the side. she wasn't allowed to leave the nursery for what felt like forevery after that. but it had all been worth it to get so close to freedom. as she aged and was allowed to go further, freedom kept moving. as an apprentice it was being allowed to go off alone. as a warrior it was going past the borders.
she stood up and turned towards the cliffs, most cats would be back by now, the patrols would be done with their duties. that meant her bestfriend, shellstripe, would be back from her hunting patrol. the she-cat wanted to know if her friend would be going with them to the clan gathering.
