Brokenpaw stood proudly before her clan, if you could call it that. They weren't much of a clan, with no real rank styles or family atmosphere. It was more like a bunch of angry,blood-thirsty cats banding together to fight and plot to take over the clans. Jag, Brokenpaws 'father' had oficially given her her first ceremony of sorts, telling the clan that she was ready to begin the watch. The watch was about as boring as it sounds, staying up all night to watch for intruders. Seeing as this was a big, empty place where only the deadliest of cats were found, it didn't seem like too much of a challenge. So, the over-excited kit took her post at a solid 6 moons, finally feeling like a true apprentice would have if she had been a clan cat.

She didn't expect too much that night, or any night for the matter. The watch was one of the few things she was able to do given a minor inconvenience in her path: the leg. Her leg had been broken a few moons prior and never quite healed correctly despite the 'best efforts' of the so-called herbal cat that they had. Due to an unfortunate mishap, poor Brokenpaw was doomed to a life of limping. However she didn't think it would be too bad, the training she had endured was much worse, and her unusual optimism allowed her to have a slightly brighter mood, even if it was only temporary. So, she decided, the watch would be a perfect job for her. Unfortunately, things don't always go the way they are planned.

Wholepaw | Story 1

Wholepaw stood in the clearing of Barrenclan, most of the cats were heading for their dens for the night, except for the nightly patrol and some occasional elders and older warrior staying up later. Wholepaw, though, wasn't going to sleep that night, in fact, he was getting ready to find his sibling. The one sibling that his mother accidentally told him about in her stories. He wasn't sorry about leaving, he never really enjoyed Barrenclan. The fact that it was always cold and no prey to ever eat made it hard to love it here, and that his mother never let him out of her sights. No cat even realized Wholepaw was out of his den, not even his poor mother.

Wholepaw slowly crept around camp, looking out for any cats who were still awake. Only a few old warriors and elders like he expected. He crept down low and out of Barrenclan's clan entrance and out into the cold, dark woods. He ran off into the night, away from his home clan. Knowing how to hunt properly, he was sure he'd survive until he got to where his sibling was. He sniffed the air, looking to pick up a scent; nothing was there, not yet anyway.

After what it felt like hours of running, Wholepaw moved slowly over to a large tree. Padding on the ground a bit to make it comfortable, he slowly laid down, closed his eyes, and drifted off into a deep slumber.

Brokenpaw sat watch, listening to the crickets chirp as night approached. As time passed, a bright white moon lit up the area, Brokenpaw momentarily getting lost in its beauty. Unfortunately, she had to return to her task, which was watching for intruders. This wasn't as exciting as she had originally planned. She let out a long sigh, starting to mumble to herself. "I'm gonna be the fiercest warrior. Yeah. I'll... i'll prove my worth to them somehow!" She stated, her voice cracking as she realized even she didn't believe that. You see, she want the strongest in the clan. Yes, youth was something she had that held her back, however strength and mobility were also at a low. She was always the last to eat, which ended up being mostly bones and gross scraps of unwanted bits, but she had to take what she could get. Her friends Scar and Skull, two cats her age that were born into the clan, sometimes shared a little bit of their meal, however it wasn't often. They needed their strength too.

Brokenpaw came to the same conclusion she had always come to: she wasn't needed. She knew they saw her as a burden, and she wanted to desperately to prove them wrong. She just needed the opportunity.

Wholepaw | Story 1

Wholepaw blinked once, and then twice, trying to adjust to the morning sun. He got up and yawned, and then stretched out his legs and back, getting ready to start on his way again. Suddenly, his stomach growled with hunger. He chuckled to himself and sniffed the air, and the ground, trying to track a scent. Successfully picking up a mouse scent, Wholepaw followed it deep through the woods. Seeing the mouse eating a small seed, Wholepaw crouched down, stalking the small creature. He gave a small smile before pouncing on the mouse, and killing it in a swift strike. He set down the mouse, and then started to eat, filling is small belly. After he was done, he licked his lips and then continued on his way to find his sibling.

After traveling for what felt like an eternity, the sun started to set, and Wholepaw kept on his path. He then saw a barn up ahead, and started that way for the night. As he got closer, the trees around him started to have claw marks and he could smell other cats. Coming closer to the barn, the scent of others grew stronger. He gulped in fear, but shook it off and started to head inside.

Brokenpaws eyes burned as the morning sun had managed to poke its way over the horizon; the night was complete. The small she-cat could barely hold her head up as she lazily hopped down from her post, completely missing the fact a tiny tom had entered her home. She stretched, a grin on her face as she believed she had done an excellent job! Brokenpaw went to look for somehingto hunt, as she was never allowed to take from he fresh kill pile ("real warriors only" they would say). As she trotted about she noticed an unfamiliar scent in the air; clearly another cat. Brokenpaws heart dropped to her stomach as she noticed a small tom padding about the area, clearly unaware of his potential impending doom.

Brokenpaw swiftly darted over and knocked the tom onto his back, pinning him down. "Who are you and what we you doing here?" she spat? her claws resting on his chest. Her tail whipped back and forth i patiently, a look of desperation in her eye as she awaited a response.

Wholepaw | Story 1

Wholepaw padded closer, seeing another cat in the distance. He tried to stay hidden but it was no use. His vibrant gold fur was too noticeable. The cat saw him and darted over, pinning him down. He gasped as he was pinned down. "I-I came to rest for the night!" He stuttered, "Im on a journey to find someone." He twisted under the she-cat's grip, trying to break free, but it was no use.

Listening to his plea didn't seem to phase Brokenpaw, who felt a more intense amount of fear weigh on her as the bone-chilling voice of their leader chimed behind her. "It appears you have captured the enemy... Broken." He stated, however it didn't seem like a compliment. The scarred old cat continued, Brokenpaw clearly trembling with fear. "However he would have never gotten inside if you had been keeping watch like you were supposed to."

Broken opened her mouth to protest, however she could get no words out of her mouth. "He smells of clan, Broken. You must have let him in, you still have a love for those pitiful clan cats you came from." He hissed, Brokenpaws eyes widening. "Wait, but-" she began, however the brute only gave a cruel smile. "You have betrayed up, Brokenpaw. You know what that means."

Brokenpaw stepped off of Wholepaw, backing up towards the entrance. "No, please sir, I tried! I did I caught him, see?" The leader, however, didn't seem to care. Before long, other cats of the clan started coming out from the shadows, arguing over which one would kill Broken and who would get the clan cat. "We have to go, now." Brokenpaw whispered to the clan cat, immediately turning tail. She had hoped the clan cat followed her, because if not he would perish. After all, betrayal is punished with death.

Wholepaw got up and followed the new cat, who was supposedly Brokenpaw, out of her camp. He ran after her, through the woods, and far away from the barn. "Im-Im sorry about-that.." Wholepaw trailed off, "I just needed to stop somewhere for the night to sleep, and the barn looked like a pretty nice place to stay, don't get me wrong. I never intended to get you banished from your clan, i really hope you don't kill me." Wholepaw rambled, flattening his ears in embarrassment.

Brokenpaw glared at the young tom, but didn't want to stop running just yet. She ignored him until they had found a safe place to rest, a place far enough from the clan that they wouldn't dare coming this far. After all, they didn't care much for her. She felt a bit of sadness well up in her, it was a mistake. Mistake mistake mistake. They didn't even blink an eye when it came to throwing her out, she tried to hard and... and that tom ruined it. She once again turned to him, glaring at the young tom, anger burning like a blazing fire that couldn't be put out. He had mentioned killing earlier, that was an option! But then she'd be alone and, while she doesn't mind the thought, survival with two would be much easier. "Let's get something straight. I don't like you and I hope the spirits send you to the eternal darkness, it's what you deserve." She spat, her ears flattening with anger. "What were you even doing so far out clan cat? There are no other clans close to us except-" she stopped, her eyes widening. "You're a barrenclan cat."
