i dont know what time i wake up.
my tongue is dry and i can feel sweat under my thick coat of fur..
its still slightly dark out as i get up on my paws and stretch my legs. i silently walk over to the entrance of the small cave i am currently using as a temporary home, and look up at the sky.

i wake up at around early dawn, hardly seeing anything. i dont know what time it is, but i dont care. im too thirsty to notice anything around me.
i stretch on the ground and stand on my 4 furry legs. suddenly a hot breeze hits my back. i furrow my eyes and leap to a spot underneath a tree. i think to myself, how is it so hot when its so early? it cant possibly be this hot. but i hope this isnt what the weather has decided to be like for the next 3 months.

my ears prick up.
i sense movement behind me, i slightly turn and see kinder, my partner in crime..
"kins" i say lightly, with a tired smile, "are you well rested?"

i turn around to see kappy standing behind me. she didnt look very awake to me. "yeah, but the heat is killing me..." i said softly, looking into the distance of the tall trees.

i tense.
'i think we need to move.., our water supply is too low for us to survive"

i slightly widen my eyes.
"sounds good. besides, other packs may get water and food supplies before us, so we better get a move on."
the loud birds start chirping, calling for their mates.

i look around and then turn back to kinder.
"we should get a move on, i have a feeling the temperature will rise throughout the day"
i try to sound positive for kins.. but in reality my stomach is churning with anxiety. i cant stop asking myself the same question..,

are we going to make it?
