right from the start, james had always
been a reckless kid. his friends had
never been a good influence either.
growing up, james had only a few true
friends, and that number declined as the
years went by. because of the small
amount of friends, and his low grades
in school, james began hanging out
with the wrong crowd. people who
would stay under the bleachers during
a game and do things. james also had,
and still does, an alcoholic father. his
mother died when he was ten. james'
father broke after that, thinking that
the only way to cope was to drink.
seeing his father break so young, james
didn't know what to do. he decided to
live by himself, so he wouldn't have to
stand by and watch his father drink
himself to sleep. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

RUSSELL
┖ PRINCE OF ________
Dodging the busy servants of the halls, the Prince marched toward his father's office with a scowl spoiling his noble charm. Thick black boots stomped on the tile floor, the heels echoing throughout the east wing as Prince Russell charged through. The King could hear his son from a mile away, and was already waiting when Russell threw open the doors. If Russell wasn't upset, King Jaxon would have laughed outright at his son's expression. Although Russel was not known for his smile, the sour face on the Prince had the King summoning for his Queen. The blonde Prince's mouth was tight in anger but looked as if drooping to speak, eyes blazing and dark eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Over all, Russell appeared to be at conflict with his emotions, and his father couldn't have enjoyed it more.
At his husband's call, Queen Andre entered the office only to burst out in laugh at his son's flustered anger. This only caused Russell to bristle more, and finally yell out, "stop laughing at me! Fathers, why are you laughing?!" His reddening cheeks were only fuel to his parents' glee. "Please, Fathers! Stop mocking me!" Like a brat the Prince stomped his foot. Queen Andre was the first to sober, though not much as he proved it difficult to look directly at his son. "Alright, calm down Russell." He nudged his husband, whom was still chuckling in his seat, before speaking again, "I'm guessing this is about the engagement. Congratulations!" Russell's cheeks darkened even more, from anger or embarrassment, as his fists clenched by his sides. "No, not congratulations! I didn't agree to marry, especially not with some reckless Prince from across the maps!" He couldn't believe his parents, the very people he was constantly spoiled by, went behind his back and engaged him to a prince he never met. Russell had only ever seen his fiance through magazines, and did not have a very good impression of him.
He readied to defend himself before King Jaxon's next words stilled Russell's words. "We are in the midst of a war, Russell. Now is not the time to be childish." Even though the King was right, Russell was still bitter. After all, his parents had married out of love.. something that seemed to be outdated nowadays. "You, the prince of our land and heir to my throne, are responsible for the well being of this kingdom. It is your duty to do what is best for the people," Queen Andre added to his husband's wise words. Quickly Russell retaliated, hands moving to exaggerate his point, "even if it means sparing your own well being?!" The reply he received was not one he wished for, especially not from his own parents. "Even if it means sparing your own well being." The look on his parents' faces told Russell they were done with the conversation, to which his lip trembled and eye watered. The blonde Prince took a shuttering breath in an attempt to compose himself before bowing, "yes, your majesties."

prince of knowhere
james gripped the sides of his throne, trying to release some of his stored up anger.
his mother stood in front of him, deciding whether or not to continue her sentence.
"please try not to be angry with us dear, its for the good of the kingdom..."
her voice faltered nervously, glancing to the ground and then back at her son.
james slammed his fist down on the chair and roared, "for the good of the king-
dom? oh my god, you cannot be bloody serious." the prince stood and swept
past his mother who tried to call him out in despair. he ignored her. james stalked
out, his nose in the air. but inside, his heart was in pieces. no matter how cold
he seemed, james did have a heart. and he wanted to be able to marry someone
he loved, but of course, it was for the good of the kingdom.
once out of the room, james began pacing. it was what he always did. something
had to be done about what was going to happen. his father had just passed and he
was the heir. and his mother had chosen his husband. james felt like throwing off
his crown. he didn't even want to meet the person whom he was supposed to marry.
tomorrow was his coronation and his suitor would be there, as well as the thousands
of people who waited for the new king. james left the wide hallway to resort to his
quarters. that way, no one could hear his twisted cries. james suppressed a small sob,
or at least kept it inside until he could reach his room. once there, james threw
his wrap onto a nearby vacant chair. he sat down onto his bed to think, and re-organize
what had just happened with his mother.
"james, dear, you have to understand. we are losing money. our kingdom will not survive."
his mother had said. so it was a matter of survival, was it? james shook his head.
his mother, queen raisa, had been trying to convince her son of all the pros of marrying
a complete stranger. they did not quite see eye to eye. "we must unite the two kingdoms
somehow." she continued in an exasperated manner. james had sat there with no emotion
to his pale face. "find another way." james had spoken coldly, his eyes piercing his mother.
"there is none." the queen spoke harshly, folding her arms onto her chest. james looked
away, and raisa's voice softened at her coming comment. "please try not to be angry
with us dear, its for the good of the kingdom..." and then james had stormed out.
james rubbed his eyes and glanced out the window. his hands were sweaty. later that
evening, his personal trainer would be coming to help him with the coronation tomorrow.
he sighed helplessly, knowing that tomorrow was inevitable.

Russel had always imagined himself growing to become a successful king, or queen, with a loyal partner by his side whom he loved and they to him in return. Surely he had thought of an arranged marriage sealing his fate once or twice before, but never convinced himself his parents would be cruel enough to force his love. Only twice had they ever disappointed him, and yesterday being one of the times. Even as he sits in carriage toward his betrothed's kingdom, Russel still can not believe his situation. The night before, after loosing an argument with the King and Queen of Tyche, Russel had mauled over the lose of his bright future. He was not known to cry, and did not ruin his reputation with petty tears, but grew close to breaking down. His parents had betrayed his trust. No matter how many hours Russel tried to wrap his head around his new fate, the prince could not accept the news. Finally, however, he can feel the reality of the situation seep in as his carriage nears the borders of his fiance's kingdom.
The entirety of the ride was spent with the young prince ignoring his apologetic parents, even now not an exception. Russel stares out the window and watches as the land passes by as if in slow motion, his heart thumping painfully harder with each second. Fields of flowers and wheat welcome the Tyche monarchs before impressive villages present themselves. Everywhere was smiling folk with energy much like the people back home, giving a tad bit of relief to Russel. He naively feared the kingdom of Knowhere would be dark and dull like evil castles in the stories. Russel can not stop his hatred for his new fiance, so it was no surprise he expected the other prince to rule dead lands. The blonde prince lets out a small sigh and looks away from the window. He is disappointed in himself for thinking the cheerful people outside his carriage could be anything but good. And although not entirely over his parents' betrayal, he is sorry his people will have to rule under such a childish prince like him. Russel's duty is to care for the people of Tyche - his feelings are no comparison to the citizens' well being. He will not admit such a thing to his parents however - he still did not agree with the arranged marriage. He only hopes his fiance would be just as defiant as he.
Quickly the castle comes into view and the royal carriage was draws to a halt outside the old, yet beautiful doors. A voice announces, "Their Majesties, the King and Queen, and Second Prince, of Tyche have arrived." Russel winces at the loud, shrill voice before finally looking at his parents. Queen Andre raises a challenging brow at his son, and Russel immediately gets the message: don't screw up. His parents exit the carriage first, broad smiles sporting their once solemn faces as they walked the steps of the castle entrance. Russel breaths deeply through his nose before following his parents. He easily forces a polite smile on his face and thanks the coachman before the carriage is off once again. He lets out another breath, watching as nobles go around him and into the castle for the princes' - his fiance's - coronation. "Here we go," the blonde man mutters to himself and walks up the stairs to enter his newly engaged life.

prince of knowherethe throne room was not nearly as attractive as james remembered it to be. in fact, growing up, james used to run down the red-carpeted hall, the carpet going on seemingly forever. little tike james approved of it much more than grown-up james did. and now, james was standing in the large empty room, watching silently as all the servants hurriedly set up for the coronation that was going to happen in just a few hours. prince james would no longer be a prince. james felt like he wanted to throw up, then curl into a corner. but of course, because royalty is all about appearances, james had to put on a fake smile. memories from yesterday's arguments flodded back to him in a whirlwind, stirring up the anger that had been kept at bay. he turned to glare at his mother, then continued watching the set-up process.
a few hours later, trumpets played the royal song as james waited behind a curtain until he would be escorted to his throne. nearly all realms would be appearing to the event. james' heart was beating fast as he was getting to walk out, a heavy crown on his head and the velvet robe thrown over his shoulders.one by one, royal families were announced, and once finished, james walked out. james walked out slowly, as practiced, a fake smile plastered on his faceand waving to the crowds of people sitting in front of him. james took his throne and rested his arms down on the wooden arm-rests, uncomfortable and embarrassed. his eyes brushed the crowds of people, barely recognizing any of them.

As soon as Prince James strides down the aisles, everything becomes silent. Loud laughter and obnoxious jesting of already drunken kings ends at the Prince's presence, everyone in the room stricken by awe - Russel is no exception. The sight of his fiance claiming his throne is almost unreal, especially with the nasty ideas Russel had of the prince. Prince James surely surprises Russel with his obvious embarrassment - he is nothing like the arrogant brat Russel conjured him up to be. He is not relieved, however, for seeing Prince James in person adds a heavier weight to the blonde's chest. The reality of their engagement practically mocks him from the throne.
A hand clasps onto Russel's shoulder, surprising the blonde from his thoughts to turn around and face his father. Although the King Jaxon and Queen Andre both sport blinding smiles, their eyes are fixated sternly their flustered son. "Come, let us go greet the new king." His father pushes Russel's shoulder lightly as if to urge the young prince on. The prince in question maintains his perfect royal smile despite his shaking hands as he and his parents grow closer to King James.
"The King, Queen, and Second Prince of Tyche." The same loud, shrill voice from earlier squawks from Russel's side. He tries not to show how bothered he is, but cannot help the slight wince which erases his smiling facade. He steps closer to stand just beside Queen Andre before bowing lowly with his parents. "Congratulations, King James," Queen Andre begins, "cheers to your long reign." He gives James a warm smile. "We thank you for your proposal. Prince Russel gladly accepted." Russel stiffens at the mention of his engagement but quickly regains himself. Finally the young prince connects his blue gaze with his fiance's before bowing again. "Yes, thank you, my King." He does not allow his hold on James' eyes to falter, unable to hold himself back from challenging the other with a slight tilt of his lips.
((sorry if it's hard to tell but both of Russel's parents are male because why not - so Queen Andre is actually a guy, and yeah.))

prince of knowherejames' eyes continued to sweep the throne room, and his stare caught another young man's stare. it was his fiance. james' heart quickened at the sight of him. prince russell. russell was definitely better looking than james ahad imagined, causing him to blush a little bit. russell's parents spoke to james, and his parents, talking of the engagement. james swallowed a whole set of nasty words and stood, sending a calm smile towards prince russell. he stepped down the one step that raised his throne from the floor, and bowed his head to russell. "you're very welcome. i'm so glad that we could finally meet, and on such a wondrous day." james' tone was calm, soothing, which was very much unlike how he was feeling. out of the corner of his eyes, james could see his mother nodding slightly in approvement. ok, so he was faking it till he would make it. "it's truly a pleasure to finally meet my future husband." james bowed his head, the crown nearly coming off. in a panic, threw his hand on top of it to catch it just in case.
james lifted his head a moment later, and embarassingly released his hand from his head. his cheeks were spotted with red, as he turned around a moment, then sat himself back into his chair. finally, james looked upon russell's two parents. "i'm sure that this bond will ensure the kingdom's safety. welcome." he opened his arms, gesturing to the large room, in an attempt to sound wise. he had to make a good impression. more trumpets filled the air, as the room silenced. james' mother took the stage, doing the traditional introductions, which he zone out of. but when he saw his mother gesture to him, james stood and did his little speech. "i, james brendan cappon..." he began, trying to shake the nerves from his stance and voice.
once james had finished the speech, he nearly collapsed into his throne. despite it only being about five minutes, he barely survived. in fact, james thought he was going to pass out at some point. but luckily, he didn't. his mother made the closing statements, that was met with echoing applause. he was no longer a prince. he was king james, engaged to prince russell. their engagement ceremony was going to follow shortly after, to james' dismay. that meant that he would have to try and get to know russell in a very short time. he seemed like an ok guy, and was very handsome. james was rather fond of his blonde hair. he stepped down from his large seat, and walked down the isle to greet his fiance in happiness, a smile on his face.

RUSSELL ❖ MCVEIGH
RANK CROWN PRINCE xx HEALTH 100% xxWORD COUNT 460
Time after meeting Ja- King James went by quickly as Russell distracted himself with conversation. He wasn't surprised to meet many whom recognized him, nor recognize them back. Tyche was a very large kingdom and well known for it's many resources, so encountering their tradings partners at the coronation was nothing unusual. Currently Russell is caught by a haughty noble, Lord Demerius, and his daughter. He had met the two plenty of times before and grew accustomed to the Lord's sly ways of negotiating, but today's conversation is much different. Lord Demerius has a smug look in his eye despite being in the presence of his prince. His voice drips with superiority, or at least tries to, as he makes inappropriate comments on the peasants back home. His daughter, Juliet, is silent by his side despite her uncomfortable expression. She looks almost apologetic at Russell, and he knows why. Russell and the rest of his family have a reputation for their kindness and equalist ways. Although the hierarchy system remains, the royals of Tyche do not tolerate belittling of their people, no matter the rank.
"Those rats should not be housed so near my estates - they'll spread their ungodly diseases and stink up the land!" Russell finally has enough of the Lord. He holds up his hand to stop Lord Demerius from starting again, trying his hardest to remain polite. "I have heard your complaints and I am so terribly sorry you feel as you do." He can't refuse the mocking sigh that escapes his lips. "But atlas, I cannot make the ...rats move," cold blue eyes settle on the Lord's alarmed pair, "but I'm sure you won't mind giving up one of your tens of estates." Lord Demerius' jaw drops as Juliet has to stifled her laughter. Russell catches movement in the corner of his eye and nearly sighs in relief at his chance at escape. "If you'll excuse me, I must go to my fiance now." The word still feels strange on his tongue, almost unwelcome, but Russell walks toward the man in question nevertheless.
As soon as he reaches King James, Russell dips in a shallow bow. "Again, congratulations." He peers up at James with a slight smile on his lips. "Long may he reign." James' earlier display had certainly helped Russell's nerves. The way the King fumbled with his crown amused Russell and made him forget the ideas he had about his so-called fiance. He cannot express how relieved he is to see he isn't the only one who is nervous. Swirling a glass of wine between his fingers, the prince gave King James a polite smile as he tried at idle conversation. "How does it feel to be the ruler of an entire country?"
