Lullaby blinked her starry hazel eyes, yawning and tossing her fluffy yellow comforter off of herself. she stretched and ran her pale hand through her unkempt oak-brown hair. she let her bare feet touch the carpeted floor, and walked sleepily to her window, pulling the flower print curtains apart, letting the sunshine filter in. lullaby blinked several times, her eyes adjusting to the light. she sat down on the window seat and set her head on her arm, her eyelids fluttering closed.

Lullaby was awakened a few minutes later by someone gently shaking her shoulder. "huh?" she muttered, brushing the hair that had fallen in front of her eyes behind her ears, looking lazily up at the maid who had awakened her. "I'm sorry to wake you, princess Lullaby," she said apologetically. Lullaby shook her head and stood up too fast, falling back down on the window seat with a small thud. "no no, it's fine. I had been awake for hours." she mumbled, giving the maid her signature smile. "your father needs you in the dining hall for breakfast," the lady said. "okay, okay. i'll be there in five minutes." and with that, Lullaby waved the woman off with a single hand gesture.

as soon as the maid was gone, Lullaby trotted over to her walk-in closet, her hands brushing over dozens of dresses, skirts and jeans. she finally decided on a knee-length pink skirt, black camisole and a cardigan. she hurriedly put the outfit on, applied a small amount of makeup and braided her tangled mass of hair before whisking herself downstairs to meet her father, mother and her four-year-old sister and brother, who were twins.

Tyler had been awake for a while, having begun to do small chores around the house while the royal family began to wake up. Once they all appeared to be awake aside from Lullaby he asked the maid to wake her. He entered the kitchen after a moment, hands resting against the counter and he let his eyes meet the chefs from over the counter. "Is the breakfast ready?" he asked, his eyes flickering over the mans features in search of any indication that it might not be. The older man rolled his eyes a moment before he wheeled the cart of food around to the other side. He waved a hand at him. "Oh go deliver the food to the family before your girlfriend get's down here." he grinned. The butler's cheeks went pink and he looked over at him with a slightly playful glare.

He wheeled the cart out into the dining room, stopping in front of each setting, bowing to each of them as he set their plates down in front of them, looking towards the stairs and catching sight of the girl as she came downstairs. He smiled a bit wider and he bowed to her, setting her plate down in front of the seat she'd be taken, his heart stuttering a bit in his chest.

He'd always had such a huge crush on her and he couldn't help it, she was beautiful. Not only that but she was bubbly, outgoing and wonderful. Of course he knew the crush was futile, considering that she was royalty and he was a mere servant. Nothing could come of it and at times that made him upset but he tried to brush that away, tried to focus on making her happy instead.

Lullaby slid into her seat, catching Tyler's eye for a moment and whispered a silent 'thank you'. she had been raised to treat everyone with respect and kindness - even the servants. Plus, the two had somehow hit it off when Tyler had arrived at the castle meerly eight months earlier. Lullaby had developed a crush on the man in the more recent months. she refused to let herself be carried away with thoughts and dreams of them together, though, because he was a butler and she was a princess.

lullaby sighed, piercing her over-easy eggs with her silver fork and letting the insides flow out and mingle with the sausage and pancakes. to be honest, she wasn't really hungry, but she didn't want to appear rude. lullaby smoothed the ruffles out of her skirt and risked a glance at her father, who sat at the end of the table. he had been staring at her - that kind of stare that makes you feel uneasy. "you were tardy to the breakfast table," he said in a gruff voice. "father, I just-" Lullaby stopped as her father put up his hand. "I'm afraid I will have to cut out your riding lessons." he said and she gasped. "it was only one time, father! please don't make me stop lessons. I love horses and I can't bear to-" she was cut off once again. "I have already made up my mind."

Lullaby pushed her chair out from the table, covering her mouth with her hand, tears brimming her hazel eyes. "excuse me," she whispered, running swiftly from the dining hall and out to the courtyard. the kind and queen exchanged glances and after a moment the king beckoned Tyler over to him. "Go get her," he told him. "she must not be allowed to skimp out on her meals."

Tyler watched as the conversation took place between the King and the Princess and he could tell the girl was becoming distressed by the way her frame grew tense. He looked over to the King as he told her she wasn't allowed to take her lessons anymore and he wanted nothing more than to walk over to him and knock some sense into him that being a King didn't allow for you to be a jerk. Of course he wasn't going to do that since he was in fact the King. He merely stood by aimlessly as the girl rose to her feet and stormed out towards the courtyard. Upon the Kings request he left the room in a bit of a hurry, jogging after her and letting his mind push aside everything aside from helping her.

He followed her outside. "Wait!" he called, catching up to her and catching her wrist delicately, getting her to stop and he bit his lip softly a moment as he mulled over what he should say. "Just breathe.." he murmured softly, letting his eyes flicker along her features a moment. He brought a gentle hand up and wiped away a few that had spilled past and he let out a soft sigh, eyebrows pulling together and he had an idea. "How about we go back in there.. And.. You can tell your Father it was my fault." he hummed, bringing a hand up and rubbing at his own face slowly. "You can tell him I failed to wake you up at the time you've been requesting and the weight will fall onto my shoulders instead and you can ride your horses." he smiled softly. "Does that sound alright?" he asked, still having a loose hold on her wrist in case she tried to run again.

Lullaby gasped as someone grabbed her wrist. "let me go!" she stopped abruptly, seeing that it was only Tyler. her shoulders relaxed as his hands grazed against her lightly freckled cheeks. he had always made her feel so much better, whatever the problem was. She wished someday she could talk to him about his problems. She wished she weren't the princess. she wished that no one had to follow her wherever she went. she wished she could be free, away from this dingy old castle. an idea about running away in the future sparked in her brain, but she pushed it away, knowing it would be impossible.

Lullaby gritted her teeth and looked down at her shoes as he begun to speak, taking a deep breath at his suggestion. as Tyler mentioned blaming the problem on him, her gaze shot back up to him, seeming to stare past his eyes and to his heart. "tyler, I can't let you do that. you'd get in trouble," she whispered, placing her hand on his. "I can handle it, I promise. I won't die or anything if I can't ride." Lullaby gave him a weak, sad smile, wiping her eyes on her cardigan sleeve.

Tyler watched her rub at her eyes and he frowned though it seemed more like a pout. "If i got in trouble it'd only be something small like cleaning everything by myself." he shrugged. "I could handle it." he smiled softly. "I know how much you like your lessons and it would be unfair for you to lose that chance." he hummed, squeezing her wrist slightly. "Come on let's go back inside. Your breakfast is gonna get cold if we don't hurry." he nodded.

He let his eyes flicker along the girls face, finding it to be one of the most gorgeous he'd ever seen though he'd probably never say that out loud, at least not to her. He sighed slightly though it was silent and he hoped that the conflict didn't show too much on his face. He dropped her hand and started back for the castle.

Lullaby knew Tyler was a stubborn man, so she just nodded and walked along beside him. as soon as they reached the castle doors, though, she seemed to carry her head higher and picked up her pace so that she walked ahead of him. she dared not let her father get any ideas about the two being...together. he would most definitely fire Tyler, and she did not want that at all.

Lullaby pushed open the doors and walked up to her father, setting her pale hand on his broad shoulder. "father," she said quietly, turning to Tyler quickly before her father turned around, giving the butler a look that seemed to say, you sure you want to go through with this?
