"Oh that's a good question..." It really was.The sisters looked at each other, shrugging as if unsure, mentally conversing on what to do. Suddenly their eyes lit up and they nuzzled gently into the shaking molly. "Why not come back with us? Confess your crimes." "Yes, by running away, you would only make matters worse. The clan will hate you, yes, but they will hate you a lot less. Especially by our side." They said, trying to nudge her to her paws. "Oh silly us, we never got your name. Mind telling us?"

Barkknot stumbled to her paws under the pair's touch, swaying, but managing to stay upright. She nodded to the she-cats and then just kept nodding, like she couldn't quite stop. "Okay," the tabby murmured, "Okay, yes, okay." In reality Barkknot just wanted to run home and bury her face in her mother's fur, but who was to say she wouldn't strike out again? Once the beaver dam was broken... And who was to say that Sorrelstar would even want her in Beechclan? After what had happened with Skunkbrush... No, she had to go face the consequences. These two she-cats would help her. "I'm Barkknot."

Momo snuggled ungracefully into the sandy banks; asleep but clearly not comfortable. She, like other former kittypet Salmoncress, preferred to line her nest with heaps upon heaps of puffy moss to try and make it feel like her bed back at home. The queen had been nice enough to show her all the good places to gather when she first arrived. Yes, Salmoncress had been very nice. A lot like her mother... The bobtail began to purr and inch instinctively towards the closest source of warmth as she thought of her mom. A nice, soft she-cat, and warm. Oh! Was this her? Without opening her eyes the she-cat began to snuggle close to the warm body, who was, of course, not her mother but Honeyfur.

Webwing had a good idea of why Fadedstar would be upset. Stepping over a territory line felt like a violation of privacy, it felt like committing a great err against another clan, one that you would have to make up for. It made you feel guilty. Of course, that was the reason Sorrelstar had set it up. But he couldn't exactly tell his friend, "Oh yeah well it's a system set up by my leader to passive-aggressively guilt trip other clans into 'owing' us and not attacking. So come on over!" Instead he said "I'm sure. I really can't understand you well," and gave her his best genuine smile.

Thistlethorn smiled as Barkknot so easily agreed. She made a mental note to speak with Malloweyes about this, knowing she may have interfered with the elder's plan somehow. They'd make it work though. "Barkknot eh? Such a cute name for someone so dangerous. I would have never guessed you killed some cat by your name alone." Nettlefoot giggled, earning an amused eye roll from her sister. "I'm Nettlefoot." "And I'm Thistlethorn. "Pleasure to meet you on such tragic terms~" They purred together. After a moment, Thistlethorn lightly nudged Barkknot towards Aspenleaf body, placing a look of worry face. "I know this may be hard for you but... you've got to be the one to take her in you know." She said softly. It wasn't a necessity. Barkknot really didn't have to do anything but obey quietly. But what's breaking the warrior a bit more? And get a little scented evidence on Aspenleaf in the process.

Barkknot winced visibly at being called dangerous, but it was true wasn't it? She was a horrible, dangerous cat despite her best attempts not to be. As Thistlethorn nudged her forward she found her knees locking in rebellion. She didn't want anywhere near that body! No, you have to. So the she-cat nodded sullenly and padded forwards, sliding Aspenleaf's limp body onto her shoulders. "Let's go," her mew was barely a whisper and she kept her eyes on the dirt in front of her, the grass blades poking out from the earth, the inchworms wriggling happily- anything to keep from thinking of the blood running down her pelt. Blood that she spilt. "Please, let's just go."

The two exchanged looks, fighting back laughter at Barkknot. She was obviously messed up before they got to her but man this was just too much. They helped adjust Aspenleaf on her shoulders before joining her on each side. "You're doing great hun." "Yea. And we'll make sure Jaystar goes easy on you." They reassured, Nettlefoot pressing her nose into the other side. Thistlethorn led the way back to camp as Nettlefoot stayed beside Barkknot speaking words or 'reassurance' here and there. "You know, Jaystar is pretty forgiving. I heard she even allowed the fox that attacked Amberstorm moons ago free... oh no... wait, she ordered it killed. Oops.." She chuckled nervously, watching closely for the other's reaction. "We're here. You ready?" Thistlethorn asked softly.

K-k-killed? Barkknot found herself whimpering quietly but she managed to keep moving along thanks to the little nudges and jolts Thistlethorn and Nettlefoot gave her. With this kind of escort she hardly had any choice but to keep marching on. "I-I'm ready as I w-will be." She shuddered and Aspenleaf's body slid uncomfortably towards her face, dribbling blood down her dark brown muzzle. "You-you'll take care of me right? P-please." Her eyes were full, frightened moons as she cast them up at Nettlefoot and then at Thistlethorn. She needed them, if she didn't have their help she was as good as that fox.

The sisters nodded before giving her blood stained fur a gentle lick. "Of course." They smiled before bushing apart the bushes that hid the clan's entrance into the mountain side cave. Once inside, it was Nettlefoot who took the lead, her face turning from one of smiles and malicious giggles to that of melancholy and true pain. As Barkknot came into view beside Thistlethorn, those who had been in the camps center began to talk loudly in shock at both the intruder from another clan and Aspenleaf's dead body. Jaystar, who had been resting her tired wet eyes glanced up wearily as the scent of blood wafted into her nose. She looked around before spotting the source, all sleepiness washing out of her and dread filling her body completely as she hopped down to join the three cats. "Nettlefoot, Thistlethorn. What is going on here? Who is this? What happened to Aspenleaf?" He voice was strong and oddly calmed, but their was a pitch in it that suggested much much more. The sisters looked to Barkknot and nodded, a gesture to tell the molly to go on and explain.

"I-i-i-" Under the scrutinizing gaze of Soulclan's leader Barkknot found her tongue unable to form words. And all the other cats, all the other eyes staring at her. Her and her burden of their dead clanmate. Staring and judging and hating and cursing silently and-and-and- Barkknot collapsed to the cave floor, Aspenleaf's corpse sliding unceremoniously off her back and into plain sight of all those watching. "I killed her," she gasped, barely audible. The eyes were burning, they were scorching the fur off her back! And the noise- the murmurs! She needed somewhere quiet, needed to collect her thoughts, needed to explain. But what was there to explain? Barkknot just lay there prone on the dusty ground, sobbing out quiet apologies.

"You did what? Jaystar hissed loudly. Yowls of outrage, wails of anguish, they all flooded the cave, echoing sharply to turn 40 cats into millions. Thistlethorn and Nettlefoot basked smugly in the sound, looking from the pure anger in their leader's eyes to the cowering molly on the cave floor. They're gazes met one another and small smirks formed on their maws before they slightly stepped closer to Barkknot, appearing to their promise. "And you dare step into my camp with your 'prey' on your back like some sort of trophy. I should slaughter you where your stand." Jaystar hissed, claws unsheathed and the mews of approval from Soulclan fueling the flames all the more. Thistlethorn then stepped forward, between Jaystar and Barkknot, her expression sad and soft. "Jaystar, I understand your outrage. We were just as crossed as you were... But she came all the way here to face tour wrath rather than run from it all and leave you all wondering what happened." That didn't calm the growling cats at all who were closing in on every side as if waiting for the word go attack. But Jaystar was more reasonable, listening to her warrior with level eyes. But her claws stayed out and gripping at the ground. "And the why behind it is pretty clear Jaystar. It is hard to scent through our fallen comrades blood, Barkknot here is a cat of Beechclan. And only one cat can command such a horrid act to happen. After all, she did seem quite offended by your accusation last gathering." A look of anger flooded Jaystar all over as she glared down at Barkknot, seeing the exact cat they spoke of in the molly. "I say an eye for an eye Jaystar." Nettlefoot spoke up. "Sorrelstar demanded the cat who killed their medicine cat be handed over. You may say we've already got our murderer. But I say Barkknot is simply a victim to her leader's lies. The true monster, the true murderer is Sorrelstar!"

"No!" Despite the weight of the eyes pressing down on her, despite the hisses and snarls and curses that filled her ears, Barkknot's protest was frantic and powerful. "No! My mother had nothing to do with this! She would never plan something like this! It was all me, just me! I-i-i-" The she-cat shrank as the amount of cats surrounding her became even more apparent- they could tear her to shreds in seconds, and they would. She cast an uncomfortable gaze at the pair of sisters who were her only aid in this foreign camp, shw was not going to gain their favor by contradicting them but she could not let her mother take the blame. "It was all me! I snapped, I must have! I was just out by the border looking for Ci- looking for herbs for my brother and then I don't know what happened next! It wasn't planned, please believe me! I'm a dangerous cat, I don't trust myself, I hate myself for what I've done. But it wasn't Sorrelstar!" Barkknot was back on the ground again, shoving her muzzle in the dirt and exposing her belly fur. "Please," she whispered, "I'm your murderer, nocat else. I came to accept whatever punishment you entail." And she closed her eyes and waited to die.
