Akari smiled, grateful that he cared for her opinion like it was his own thoughts. The two of them were the perfect pair, and they had their differences, but they also kept each other up. "Well let's just say that I hope you don't die."
Her words were barely audible, just a murmur, and she looked away soon after she said them, following his gaze to the windows. She would have said the same thing to anyone else, but something deeper hid itself in her words, though she refused to evaluate any further on the situation, instead just focusing on the world outside.
She could just barely see the tips of sky scrapers across from them, looking out into the distance that was lit by the lights of a far away airport. Every now and again she would see car headlights flash up from below, followed by the sound of car engines revving past red lights, and while she tensed in expectation, they only faded away, silence soon lingering behind.
And then, just as if he could read her thoughts, Ryu asked what was wrong, and that moment she could have easily broken down. But she didn't. He knew her way to well, and could easily sense when she was down in the blues, or just had something on her mind.
"It's not anything important, I guess I'm just a bit stressed. The Erasers really made me realize that this isn't going to be the walk through the woods I want it to be. We're going to have to keep running, because in the end, they are going to find us eventually."
As much as she hated to admit it, the leader that showed on the outside had her troubles as well, and she wasn't always Akari the Great. They were going to have to keep running and hiding, but one slip-up and they would be taken down just like back in the alley, and the last thing she wanted was the Flock to get hurt again. She didn't want to keep running, but the truth was, it was going to have to happen.
Whether she liked it or not.

Ryu wasn't sure if he should be worried about Akari's reply or grateful. It was a big change having someone worry about you, and at that care for you. Being locked up at the School taught all of them that the world was cold and cruel and the only ones that actually give a damn about you were the ones locked up beside you. The very ones who watched you suffer while you helplessly watched them back. Ryu wasn't really sure how the Flock managed to stick together after the break out but he was half-heartedly glad that they did. Somehow in some way they all needed each other, one way or another with or without doubts.
"Well, I'm not going to die anytime soon, that's for sure." Ryu said softly with a bit of amusement, a ghost of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. His misty grey eyes glanced over at Akari when she began to share her worries and he understood why something like that would bother her. His smile disappeared but the warmth of being thought about was still tucked away in the back of his mind.
"You should already know that this wasn't going to be a walk in the park from the very start but I understand what you mean." Ryu replied as he slid one of his hands out of his pocket and ran his fingers through his jet-black hair as he sighed heavily, taking in the gravity of Akari's point. His bangs fell a shy above his eyes like always.
"Indeed we are going to have to keep running but as long as you believe that this freedom is worth running, hiding, and fighting for, then the rest of us won't give up until you do. If you do, I'll make sure you won't. Understand?" Ryu asked and tilted his head slightly to get a good look at Akari's expression. Even when the rest of the flock saw her as the leader, himself included, he felt somewhat as an equal to Akari. Ryu may not know how to lead a flock but he was learning from Akari by the day, even when she thinks he wasn't paying much attention or completely ignoring her, he really wasn't. She always had a voice somewhere, even when he thought he couldn't work with reason she was able to work a way around it. Pissed off or depressed like an emotional shut-down, her voice was reason to Ryu.

The confidence in Ryu's voice made her smile a bit, her green eyes sparkling in gratitude. "Don't worry. I don't plan on giving up on my family any time soon." Without even realizing it, just as Ryu had done to her moments before, she brushed back the bangs that hovered over his eyes, tilting her head slightly and looking at him, her lips tugging at a smirk.
Instead of sitting there in an awkward slouch through the silence, Akari found herself leaning against Ryu, her head on his shoulder. The flaming red hair on her head cascaded over his shoulder, contrasting with the darker shirt he wore. At that moment, she didn't care that her face hurt like hell. Or that they had just been attacked by a gang of Erasers.
All she cared about was the warmth of his shoulder against her skin, and right then, at that exact moment, she felt like that they were the only two people in the world. Sure she had considered him as her brother, but at that point, maybe it was something more. Or maybe it wasn't.


It was so difficult to figure out, I had to ponder about it for a while. xD Sorry for the short post. Kinda tired. xD ]]

"Good," Ryu gave a slight nod and blinked when Akari brushed back his bangs. He really didn't mind but it was unexpected, that was all. After seeing her smirk, Ryu had a feeling that he wasn't going to like what was going to happen next. Turned out he was wrong.
Ryu felt the weight of Akari's head on his shoulder and the warmth that came along with her for being so near. Her firey red hair was rather admirable now that it was up close but he didn't pay it much mind since he was looking for Akari's expression, wanting to know if Akari knew what she was doing. She looked so calm and serene, not at all disapproving like he half-heartedly expected. A bit hesitant, Ryu relaxed and used his free arm to wrap it around Akari's lower back and gently pulled her a bit closer to him. His wounded side protested against his action but it was remarkably easy to ignore now that he had someone to focus on and admire.
Basking in Akari's scent and warmth, Ryu sighed softly and leaned his own head lightly against Akari's, feeling even more exhausted than ever. Despite the affection, Ryu couldn't help but feel utter terror screaming at him in the depths of his mind. Wasn't this something he has been trying to avoid? Wouldn't he be nothing but a distraction to Akari now? Even if Ryu wouldn't admit it to himself, it is true that he has been longing for Akari's affections but he knew it would come with some consequence. A heavy one at that, this attraction would do nothing but cause trouble wouldn't it?
Ryu was trying his hardest to ignore these questions and push away the possibilites of the pros and cons but he was just too tired. His worries soon faded into a tired whisper and he aimlessly lifted his head back up to briefly kiss the top of Akari's head. For now, he thought of nothing else but himself and Akari almost as if the world no longer existed. "C'mon, best if we catch some sleep while we still can. Wouldn't do any good passing out in the middle of the day tomorrow." Ryu said softly and his ebony black wings shuffled slight behind him, relaxing shortly after.

(Yeah, it's getting pretty late where I live. XP Hopefully my post didn't seem like gibberish because it looked like that to me when I reread XD)

αкαяι was almost already gone under sleep when Ryu wrapped his arm around her, but she still snuggled against him even more, though she may not have realized it. As her thoughts flickered in and out, she barely caught the last of Ryu's presence, his lips on her forehead, before she blacked out entirely.

ωαкιηg up to bright sunlight, Akari slowly pushed open her swollen eyelids, her green eyes taking their time to focus on the world around her. For a moment, she didn't recognize where she was, and freaked out, but the scenery around her slowly came back. Looking over at a sleeping Ryu, she realized that he still had her tucked protectively under her arm, and she smiled, planting a small kiss on his forehead like he had done to her the night before, slowly pulling herself carefully from his grasp.
When she had wiggled herself away from him, she wobbled a bit, but managed to stand up on her own two feet. As she stretched, she realized that she had fallen asleep in the clothes she had been wearing through the fight, and she began to notice the cuts and tears in her clothing, or the rip in the left knee of her jeans. Pulling off the jacket she had on, she examined her t-shirt, realizing that it wasn't in that bad of condition besides the blood stains near her neck where she had been cut. The blood had long since dried and was now a reddish brown, but she slipped off the t-shirt anyways, grateful that no one else was up yet as she changed quickly.
Snatching a black tank top from her pile of clothes, she wasted no time in walking to the bathroom to examine the mess that she was. The mirror revealed her right eye swollen and bruised beyond belief, but as she healed very fast, most of it was fading now, and it was mostly a light purple and yellow. As for the cut on her head, it was just a small scab, but she still took a washcloth to the injury to wipe away all the blood caked to her skin and hair.
After more injury inspections and cleaning, and a major hair brushing, Akari managed to look decent. Her red hair was slightly curly from the night on Ryu's shoulder, but it looked okay enough to pull up into a pony-tail, red strands of hair falling in front of her green eyes.
Finished with her morning clean-up, she walked out into the kitchen, planning on trying to make something decent to eat before the rest of the Flock awoke.

∂єєρ under the black veil called sleep, it wasn't until the clatter in the bathroom sounded around the house that Naomi slowly pulled herself out of the trance. Her bones and muscles ached in protest as she tried to pull herself around, but eventually, she managed to pull herself into a semi-sitting position. Her gaze met Damian's red hair with a smirk, and she nudged him with her knee to wake him, ready to get up and moving now that it was a new day.
Light streamed through the windows, and Naomi had to cover the bright light with her hand in an attempt to save her poor eyeballs. Rising up, she swung her legs over the side of the couch, "accidentally" hitting Damian in the shoulder with her foot before she actually stood up. Disoriented, she had to stand still for a few moments, closing her eyes and blinking to remove the black spots in her vision, but after a few minutes, she could stand up and actually move. So, setting one foot in front of the other, she managed her way into the kitchen, yawning and wincing as her sides echoed in pain. Her stomach felt like she was about to barf up whatever pizza was left, but she got over the feeling and slouched down at the table, looking up at Akari with a 'feed me' expression.
Stomach growling in hunger, she gripped her sides and wished that they had a buffet in front of them. But the only thing that there was was a lonely jar of peanut butter, a small spoon sitting next to it. So, being the greedy little child that she was, she snatched it, unscrewing the lid and taking out a whole spoonful of peanut butter. Looking over the brown peanut substance, she stuck the whole end of the spoon into her mouth and proceeded to try to chew on the thick butter, failing badly when the roof of her mouth soon began to stick to her tongue. So, in an attempt to swallow, she ended up only getting a sticky throat as well.

Oh it made sense. I think I'm feeling something blossoming between our little leaders. They grow up so fast! :'( ^.^ ]]

Ryu shifted slight when he felt Akari kiss his forehead but he wasn't very aware of it. Despite the fact that Ryu was a light sleeper, the fight from yesterday had drained him so much that he managed to sleep a little while longer before coming to. Once he did he found himself alone in the kitchen and he stood up to strech. He hissed and regretted stretching when his wound protested against him. He was sore and doing something like that would make the gashes bleed again if he wasn't careful.
Recalling what happened last night, Ryu glanced around for Akari but couldn't find her in the kitchen. He heard movement in the den of the apartment and knew it was Naomi and Damian. He could tell because of a familar groan. Ryu huffed and leaned up against the table as he lifted his shirt a little to see his side. It was still covered with Akari's work with the bandage and it confirmed on what happened last night was real.
Ryu released his shirt and rubbed his temple with one of his hands, still accusing himself for what he did until Akari stepped into the kitchen. The sudden urge to feel shy overcame him and he glanced away but it didn't stop him from speaking. "Hey," He breathed and his arm instictively went to his side that was still bugging him. It probably wouldn't heal up completely until two or three days from now, depends on what he was doing for those few days. When Ryu regained his composure, he leaned away from the table and watched Noami enter the kitchen to attack the jar of peanut butter. There was amusement at the sight but it sisn't quite show. Ryu sighed to himself and left the kitchen swiftly to be in the den, passing Damian as he did so.

Damian groaned as Noami nudged him with her knee and he leaned forward a bit as he emerald green eyes opened slightly but he was thrown a bit off balance after being hit with Noami's foot. He used his hand to keep himself upright and he huffed. "Okay legs of lead, watch where you you throw those things." Damian muttered sleepily and ran his hands through his hair. After rubbing his eyes and taking a few minutes to wake up, he used the sofa to help him stand up straight and head for the kitchen to see if he could find something to eat. Damian couldn't help it, the first thing he always thought of when he got up in the morning was to eat something. Ryu passed him when he got to the kitchen but Damain didn't pay attention to where the guy was going. He was still too tired to care except to sense that he was different. How was he different? Damian couldn't place it but he still looked grouchy anyway so at least that didn't change. Either way, this was Ryu he was talking about here so there was nothing to predict.
"Is there anything here that's edible? Why can't we just go and get something?" Damian asked and eyed Naomi since she was the only one eating out of the whole flock. He was tempted to walk right over and snatch the jar of peanut butter but he knew that Naomi of all people wouldn't let it go quitely. Damian yawned and leaned his shoulder up against the doorframe as his rusty-red wings slumped lazily behind him, his primary feathers nearly touching the floor. "Someone better come up with something or else someone is losing an arm."

XD Finally something actually happened between the two! Lol
Now this is where we have fun making things freakishly complicated! ;-; I find it oddly entertaining and sad to torture my Ryu..)

αкαяι smiled as Nudge rushed in and snatched away their jar of peanut butter and she glanced around wearily. They really had no options whatsoever to eat, besides the peanut butter, and they really needed something edible before they all started gnawing each others' arms off.
Deeply wrapped up in her thoughts like some sort of burrito, she barely caught the words that came out of Ryu's mouth. "Morning sleeping beauty."
A half smile tugged at her lips, and she turned back around, searching for something they could eat. The last thing she wanted was the Flock complaining about it, but, sure enough, Damian just had to walk into the kitchen.
"Oh calm down, nobody is losing an arm for Christ's sake." Giving the red head a hard stare, she realized the whole flock was gathered at the kitchen table, making things so much easier. "But, since you're so eager to do it, how about you go find us some food?" She didn't want Ryu to go without saying it out loud, but it's not like she was going to share it with the whole dang Flock. That alone would kill whatever remained of Ryu's pride after last night.
Now that she was thinking about it, she glanced over at the older boy, seeing as he winced and covered his injured sides. She raised an eyebrow instinctively to ask if he was going to be okay before focusing the rest of her attention on Naomi and Damian. The expression on Naomi's face reminded her of a scavenger who was trying to guard her food from vultures. And by vultures, she meant Damian.

ηασмι just caught the last of what Damian said, and as he waltzed into the kitchen, she stuck out her tongue at him in accusation. Muttering things under her breath as she ate the peanut butter, some of the pieces of it were barely audible, but just enough.
"Lead legs. Pssh, I've heard better insults from a turkey sandwich."
As she sat there eating, she began to notice Damian eyeing the butter she was chowing on, and her eyes narrowed, hugging the tub of it close to her chest. Knowing him, he would probably try to steal it sooner or later, so she would be off better safe than sorry.
Tuning in to Akari as she spoke, she wondered if this was going to mean another terrifying adventure for she and Damian, but who knows, maybe he wouldn't want her to go and she could just stay behind.

*sniffles* Poor poor Ryu. lol I'm actually quite proud that at least something happened. *eyebrow wiggle* They're on their way. ]]

Ryu reached the other side of the den by the time Damian had left, he found the door to exit the apartment but he only made sure that it was locked. It was already locked but he doubled checked before turning away to sit down on the sofa. It wasn't really that often when the flock is open this kind of luxury. Life in a small cage is basically what he was used to so it was going to be a little while before Ryu got used to it, being comfortable and relaxing for once.
Ryu leaned over towards the armrest and held his head up with one of his palms as he glanced around the room a bit aimlessly. He hoped that Damian would hurry up and come back soon but that was probably a lost cause, you never really know when he might come back or what he may bring back with him. Hopefully it was something different but then hunger wasn't really bothering Ryu, it was only the annoying pain that won't seem to cease and he could feel it ebbing away ever so slowly as his healing capabilities kicked in.
Whether he was all healed up or not by tomorrow, Ryu was sure to try and convince Akari to move one. It wasn't very wise or safe to stay here much longer than they really have to. Instead of waiting for him to rest, like a burden he knew he already is, they could at least try and see if they could gather up some more traveling materials. Maybe they shouldn't of brought so many things, it would be better if they carried as little as possible but the things they need. Nothing unimportant to weigh them down.

Damian was in a mini staredown with Naomi when Akari spoke but when she mentioned him going to to find something, Damian pulled his gaze away and rolled his shoulder. "A'ight, I'll see what I can do." He replied and his wing perked up and folded behind him a she turned on his heels and opened one of the nearest windows. Damian glanced at Naomi before he did anything else and gave her a three second glare before leaving. He slid out easily and drop a few feet before opening his wings with a snap and flapped his wings quickly to head upwards. The sky was still a bit dark in shade since it was close to the crack of dawn so he saw this as an oppertunity to fly around without being seen. With the sun giving everything a red-orange shade, he seemed to blend in just fine.

I can see Damian and Naomi getting into an argument and neither of them winning but if one does then they won't apologize until three days later XP
