Deidre nodded as Catherina told her to stay quiet. Subconsciously, she made her steps lighter as they tread on the wood, her hand reaching up to nervously ruffle her loose curls. She trusted this girl without a doubt, as Catherina had always been kind to her back when they had been younger. While all the other women their age had made fun of her for being Native American, Catherina had never joined in. It seemed so far back now, when her only problems had been those. Silently she sighed, somewhat taken up by the memories. Life had been much simpler back then.

As Catherina glanced back over at her to make sure she was following, Deidre blinked encouragingly, keeping up with her quick stride. It occured to her that perhaps this girl was leading her into a trap, but in that moment she just wanted to think positively. If there was a chance that Walden was not dead, she wanted to believe it.

The second the door opened to the cargo, Deidre was stepping forward, her head tilted to one side as she took in the room before her. Upon the sight of her brother standing there - injured, but still alive - the first smile in months broke upon her face. She rushed forward to embrace him, and he met her halfway, his strong arms pulling her into a hug.

Walden was completely overwhelmed upon the sight of her sister. While he had seen her the night before, there had been a gun to her head, and he had not been able to take in the change in appearance she had taken in the three years. She was still tall, and certainly still beautiful. While it was a beauty that many would not be able to appreciate, Walden had always had a soft spot for his sister's dark looks. He smiled genuinely as she pressed her face into his chest, his fingers gently feeling her long, soft hair.

"How are you alive?" she gasped as she finally pulled away, smiling still. "I thought... Nathaniel killed you. I saw it happen." She choked slightly as she pronounced the name.

Walden seemed to sense her uncertainty towards the man, and he scowled slightly. "He doesn't stand a chance against me - don't you know that already? I had to come back to save you from him. And Catherina - I'm going to help you both." He glanced over towards where the blonde had stood, but to his surprise, he barely caught a glimpse of her as she left the room. Why was she leaving?

(That's okay xD I was too busy throwing away all of my old high school papers. Oh it was a joyous occasion~ <3 xD)

Catherina hadn't bothered to stay for the reunion. By the time they had begun to embrace each other, she had already left the vicinity. Instead she had left for the main deck, where her brother stood at the helm with his hands on the wheel. There was something wrong with him; his kindness had dwindled, and was much more selfish than the man she had seen three years ago.

She walked up the stairs to where he stood, standing next to him but never making eye contact. He seemed to be doing the same, but he knew that she was still standing next to him.

"What did Father do to you? What did he say?" Catherina suddenly broke the silence. She turned her head to look at her brother, but he was still staring off at the sea. His facial expression, however, had changed. He looked troubled, and every little word she had said felt like a dagger in his side.

"We're not heading back to Boston as I had told Deidre," Nathaniel finally spoke. "We're going to New York, where our father is. There I am to give you to him and he will take you to England. You're to be married to an older gentleman there, and become his property. I am working as a privateer under the consent of the king to destroy any patriots that may dwell in these waters. Walden was one of those traitors, and I am under command to send them to the depths."

Catherina felt her mouth growing wider and wider as he spoke. Her heartbeat was racing by the time he had finished speaking. She was to be married to a stranger!? She hadn't even seen her father in ages, so why was he so inclined to shove her away now!? She wasn't going to go through with it; she was in charge of herself.

"You can't do this! You can't follow through with whatever Father tells you! You're becoming like him, Nathaniel! You want me to be sent to England to some man that would probably use me as a mere object!? That's insane!" Catherina began to scream. She was absolutely furious; she couldn't let him take her to New York.

In an instant, however, two men had suddenly gripped her shoulders and had placed her hands behind her back. "What the hell do you think you're doing!? Let me go! Nathaniel! You can't let this happen!" Catherina was squirming in their grasp, trying to use any form of defense to break free.

"I knew you weren't going to comply, so I'm sorry I'm going to have to do this. You'll be put in the brig until we reach New York. I'm terribly sorry, sister, but I can't let you be posed as a traitor to the king. England will be better for you," Nathaniel murmured, his gaze shifted upon hers. But while he looked expressionless, she was completely in a rage.

"You're a sick fool, Nathaniel! I'll never forgive you for this! You're not my brother!! You never were! You only wanted to do what Father told you to do! He's controlling you, Nathaniel! You can't listen to him like this! You can't!" The words that Catherina yelled at him faded into the ship, and she was suddenly shoved into the brig just a deck above the cargo hold. The metal framework was slammed in front of her, leaving Catherina alone in the prison cell of the ship. She didn't know what to say other than scream, but those died down as she crumbled to the floor and began to sob in both anger and sadness.

Deidre's eyes drifted over to where Katharina had disappeared, her eyes widened slightly in surprise.  It struck her as somewhat odd that the blonde was leaving after risking her own life to reunite her with Walden, but she didn't give it too much thought.  Perhaps she simply wanted to leave them with some privacy?  The brunette looked up at Walden, and was even more surprised to see that he seemed oddly effected by the blonde's departure.  Why, though?  She knew her brother well enough to know that he didn't care for anyone outside of family.  Was there something going on with them that she didn't realize?  The question burned in her mind, but was not voiced in her fear of ruining the moment.  She still felt so lightheaded - ecstatic, really - to know that Walden was not on the bottom of the ocean, and didn't really want to think about Nathaniel again and everything going on in this terrible ship.  Even though some things had changed in the past hour, she still had a negative feeling about it.

Walden seemed to read his sister's expression, and he had forced a smile onto his face in seconds.  Catherina probably had just wanted to give them some privacy.  But still, he felt a bite of guilt in the back of his mind as he realized that he had not responded to her kiss from before.  No doubt she had taken that as a bad thing, when in reality he had not intended it that way.  "Have you spoken to the captain today, Deidre?" he asked quietly, his voice still low as he continued to hold on to her hand, not wanting to let go of it again.  After discovering what had happened to her in his absence, he felt more overprotective than ever.

The Indian girl nodded, tilting her head slightly to one side as she took her brother's expression.  "I spoke to him this morning," she said in a muffled voice as she began to remember the promise Nathaniel had made.  Now that she had Walden back, she very suddenly realized that she did not want to return to her husband.  Perhaps now, she would have a chance to live a life with him, and not one that would be abusive.  "He told me we would be back in Boston by nightfall today, or tomorrow."

Walden narrowed his eyes slightly, pulling away from her to look out of the window.  After quickly consulting a compass that had survived in his coat pocket, he grit his teeth together.  "He said that, did he?" he muttered darkly, hastily dropping her hand and crossing the room to the door, gazing out from the crack.  There was no sound coming from the halls, and he felt slightly more at ease to know that no one was eavesdropping. "This ship is not heading towards Boston, Deidre.  That pirate lied to you."  He pause for a moment, taking a look of surprise that passed by her unguarded, dark brown eyes.

It was somewhat surprising to her. While she had certainly not come to trust Nathaniel, a small part of her had believed him and the genuine look on his face when he had promised to return her that morning.  So he had been lying?  The little respect that she still had for the man instantly disintegrated, and she was frowning.

Before she had the chance to reply however, the sound of screams and crashing came from the floor above from them.  Walden grabbed onto Deidre and pulled her back towards the wall, knowing that if they were to be discovered, they would probably both be killed.  But no one came near their door, and after a moment he let her go.  The screams were from up above, and it nearly knocked him over to realize who they were coming from.

Catherina.  The realization hit him like a stone, and it took all of his willpower to not storm out of the room and go rescue her. So Nathaniel had turned on his own sister now?  A flurry of curse words flowed through his mind, but he didn't voice them in fear of frightening Deidre. For in his mind, she was still the little girl hr had always looked out for. But what he didn't know was how much she had grown up in the three years they had been apart.

"I'm going to kill him," Deidre whispered, her words slicing through the air as a result of her bottled-up fury.

Walden blinked in surprise, and it took some effort to hold her back as she tried to leave the room. "No, Deidre," he said firmly, hastily grabbing a hold of the back of her dress, pulling her back once more.  "Not this way.  You know I want the same, but we can't act on impulse.  We need to help Catherina first."  He paused for a moment, then forced her to turn around and meet his gaze.  "I'm going to and get her out.  You stay here, okay?"  Although their gazes met, she seemed distracted, her eyebrows knitted together in anger.  "Do you hear me, Deidre?" he said impatiently, giving her a slight shake to force her to listen.

Deidre was still scowling, but she didn't nod.  After a moment, Walden knew that he didn't have time to force her to respond.  "I'll be back soon.  I promise."

The second the blonde man had exited the room, leaving deidre there alone, she huffed.  "Empty promises," she hissed into the darkness, her eyes glowing with the anger she felt inside.  She crept towards the door, and when her brother's steps disappeared up the stairs, she left the room, leaving behind her broken promise in the hope to make a difference for once in her life.
