"Do you think it would be better for us to travel at night? It's too hot during the day, and we don't know where the rest of the watering holes are, if there are any besides this one," Kyiera said, looking at her pack. While it was true that she was confident in her rank as alpha, she was usually in doubt over some things - she knew that they wouldn't complain (couldn't, rather) if she led them during the day, in the scorching heat, but she didn't really want them to bear some form of hatred against her. Ruelle was her guide in times like these - her insight and observant nature usually helped them get through the roughest of things. "If I were to suggest that we travel at night, do you think the pack would be more comfortable?"

"Not my fault you can't swim!" the hunter teased before glancing at Mirri to see what her reaction was. The fae was basically trying to hold in her laughter, from what he could see, and he grinned wolfishly (PUN) before swimming over to her. "C'mon Mir, the water's really goooooood," he cooed, trying to get her into the water. He wanted to push her in, but that would.. basically turn her off and he wouldn't be on her list of potential mates anymore.

Chaser

Chaser looked around - their two leaders were discussing something, the pups were fooling around, their faes were basking in the shade, their omega was looking at one of the faes, and he was bored. With a sigh, he laid down and placed his head on his paws and promptly fell asleep. No use wasting time staying awake when he could just sleep while waiting for the alpha to ask them to start moving.

Ruelle tilted her head slightly as she listened to Kyiera's words. "You're right, the heat does make us sluggish and easily tired," she agreed. "I think they'd much prefer to move about at night, when fewer creatures are active and threats are lessened. It'll be easy to hunt during the day too. Shall I make an announcement?" Her gaze was respectful as she gave her opinion; Kyiera was always one to think out of the box like this, and always for the good of the pack. While Ruelle thought of the pack as her own pups and cared for them as such, she was much less flexible and definitely rarely came up with such ideas.

"Stop laughing, you two!" Averill whined, throwing a weak glare at his sister and Randir. Seeing the other brute's attention drifting away as he tried to coax Mirri into the water, Averill redoubled his strokes and just about leaped on Randir, creating a huge splash as he wrestled with him. Mirri and Accalia only laughed even harder, while Lyall yawned as he lay half-submerged in the water, uninterested in the drama occurring before him.

Kris rested his head on his paws, the cool breeze under the shade of the tree's sweeping branches lulling him into a sense of calm. He continued to watch the wolves in and by the lake, albeit through half-lidded eyes, his ears twitching every so often to flick away the ever-annoying flies.

"If it's alright with you," Kyiera replied, referring to the announcement. Inside, she was thankful that Ruelle had given her better insight on the 'travelling at night' proposal. It didn't seem too disadvantageous to them anyways - their only problem would be running into rival wolf packs in the dead of the night - but that didn't seem like a possible threat this far from normal wolf territory. Loner wolves were a different question though.

"Oh wolf' pelt n-asdfasdf!" Randir barely had time to take a breath before Averill tackled him underwater. The brute quickly tried to fight back, but he was made for speed, not strength, so he was no match for the fighter. And he was running out of air. Trying not to bite the other brute in the process, he struggled to the top and took in a huge gulp of air. "A warning next time," he said, wheezing, as he made his way back to shore and basically just flopped onto dry land.

"Sure." Ruelle shrugged and turned to address the rest of the pack. They were scattered around the watering hole, but none were too far away. "We'll be travelling at night and resting in the day from now on," she called, looking around. "That way, we can escape the worst of the heat and tire less easily. Does anyone have any objections?"

Averill fell back as Randir struggled out of his grip and returned to shore. "Sorry," he muttered half-heartedly, "was I really violent?" He leaped out beside Mirri and Randir, shaking all over to rid himself of water. Once the breeze blew, it could get a little chilly if he didn't get dry. He lifted his head as Ruelle started to speak, half-listening to her words as he blinked a drop of water out of his eye. He was fine with the new arrangement, not having to endure the heat of the hot sun didn't sound bad at all.

Kyiera hid a smile when she saw that the pack wasn't disagreeing with the arrangements. 'Looks like I made the right decision,' she thought to herself as she remembered that it was still daytime. "Now that most of your have rested up, hunters - go scout the areas for any possible prey - bring back only what you can: do not, under any circumstances, bring down a caribou by yourself just because you want to provide for the entire pack," she told the others as she debated whether she should accompany the hunters or not - it was a tempting thought - she hadn't been out hunting in such a long time since she had been more concerned with possible rogue wolves entering their former territory.

"Sort of - I wasn't built with your bulkiness. Hunter, remember?" Randir mumbled, too exhausted too actually fight back. As soon as Kyiera mentioned 'hunters', he suddenly perked up and felt rejuvenated - they were going to be able to hunt! Once their alpha was finished with her speech, he stood up, shook his pelt dry and headed over to Lyall, who was definitely going to be leading the hunting party.

Ruelle turned to Kyiera, pacing eagerly at the thought of hunting. "Perhaps we should split into two groups," she suggested brightly, "since we didn't get to do anything much last night. We can just leave one or two wolves around." She cast an amused glance at the peacefully snoozing Chaser. Lyall was already rounding up the hunters and preparing to leave, just as her eye fell on Kris, who was skulking in the shadows as usual. "Kris, why don't you follow the hunters? They could teach you a few hunting skills," she suggested.

"Bye!" Averill called, watching the hunters gather and start to speak quietly among themselves. Hearing the beta's words, his eyes brightened and he turned around excitedly. "I learnt how to hunt yesterday!" he announced, holding his head high. "Do you want me to come along?" He tried to invite Accalia along, but she would have none of it and insisted on resting here with Chaser.

Kris raised his head as Ruelle suddenly addressed him out of the blue. He could hardly say no, so he directed an annoyed glare at her when her back was turned, before stalking over to Lyall, Mirri and Randir. "I'm supposed to come with you," he said somewhat grumpily with his head lowered.
