[ everyone is just arriving at the party - some people are talking a little ]

((Everybody is showing up at the birthday party, which is at a new spot in the mall called the Simulacrum. They'll be going into the simulation soon!

I'm thinking the simulation could be an old style cliche fantasy world? Anyone who wants their characters to have powers would be a wizard, cleric, mage, whatever, and the kids who don't have magic will be knights and damsels and whatnot.

While in the sim, all the powers work exactly like the characters imagine they should. Outside the sim, things will be much less controlled and perfect.))

The Simulacrum is basically the holodeck from StarTrek or the Matrix from the, er, Matrix. (The tech is quite a bit different. I'll explain). All the teens will hook into this simulation, and play at being wizards and mages in an ancient world. Then, after the party is over, they'll unhook from the simulation, and go home. Only, the powers will persist in weird, uncontrolled ways. And then plot happens.))

Shiloh smiled as the boy motioned for her to go first. He was certainly a little gentleman, and obviously was trying to be polite. Perhaps even flirtatious. But Shiloh didn't seem to take that into account at all, and just passed through the doorway quickly, entering the room and looking around.

She instantly spotted Marie amongst the people who had already arrived, and it was hard not to feel slightly intimidated. It seemed like everyone wanted to say hello to the birthday girl, and Shiloh felt the familiar feeling of nerves as she realized that this might not actually be a good idea. What if the girl told her that the invitation had been sent by mistake? It would be so embarrassing. The thought mortified her, and for a moment she froze, shifting her weight from one foot to another, a somewhat hesitant look on her face.

Then she remembered what her therapist had said. Confidence. What was the problem with simply going up to her? Maybe she would welcome her. They might not be like the people from her old school. It was impossible to expect that.

It took her a few moments, but eventually Shiloh mustered up her courage, and approached them. Her fingers, wrapped around the gift, were somewhat tense, and they moved tirelessly in a nervous tick she would get in situations like these.

Lake finally found the place he had already walked past, twice. With his fast pace he had done a few circles around the mall before finally finding the Simulacrum. He had looked inside before, without reading the store name and had dismissed it, not thinking a party would take place. Lake's mistake, and he only hoped no one had noticed him wandering around.
As he entered the store, he quickly disappeared into the crowd of other teens who were chatting and laughing. He stayed silent as he moved like a snake through groups of people, wondering if he should find Marie now or wait till later to give her card. He kept a sharp eye out for anyone he might know from one of his classes as he navigated and avoided contact with other teens.

((Sure ^^; Lake is slightly new. Just moved a few weeks ago but they could have classes together? You can make up something if you want them to be closer friends ^^;
