As Kavé neared the heart of the Velocia camp, the smells of her clan mates grew stronger in the air, and Niko fluttered off into the canopy to take care of whatever bird buissiness he had. Kavé didn't really care, if she really needed him later he was never too hard to find. After all, their souls were bonded. All she ever had to do was call him, and he'd be there as soon as he could. But you never knew really, and so she quickly switched her sight to his eyes.
He was high in the thin branches of a tree, and seemed to be conversing with a few of th other small sight birds, as well as a few average ones. He shook his head at her intrusion, as though a bit annoyed at her popping into his private life. What do you want now? He asked, a hint of amusement hidden in his false annoyance. Just wanted to ask for you to stay close. She answered, suddenly aware of just how mothering she sounded. And if it were possible for someone to roll their eyes only in thought, Kavé could have sworn that Niko did. Don't I always?
He just managed to squeeze the last part in before she slipped back into her own senses. Soaking her head with a small smile, she padded on into camp. She would have to go see the leader and admit she could be sent out again tonight. She wanted badly to make up for her last outing which had been dismal, ending with her having to call the retreat to bring her seekers back safely.
Even though it hadn't really been her fault, Kavé always seemed to take these things to heart, though this may have had something to do with the clan's general distrust of her, a fact that secretly bothered the cougar. She may have been born outside that clan, but hadn't she been raised there all of her life? She had only ever lived a few days beyond the relatively safe borders of the Velocia, and had no recollection at all of it. Her earliest memories were those of her adoptive mother and siblings.
She sighed. There was nothing really that she could do about it though, other than prove her loyalty beyond a shadow of a doubt. And so, feeling a little bit peeved, she padded silently into the camp's heart.
