{Kelly}
As soon as Starfish's eyes were covered, he got to work. Kelly took a large tan blanket off the back of the couch, laying it out in the center of the floor. He took a large blue blanket and hung it on the wall between two windows on the dowels. he took several blue pillows, scrunching them between the two blankets on the ground. He ever so gently lifted the piece of driftwood from it's resting place, sitting it on the tan blanket. He took several shells, memorizing where each one was with his photographic memory, and spreading them out on the blanket and peeping out from under the pillows. He put two pillows on the driftwood, and grabbed the cookies and lemonade from the other room. He opened a curtain behind the hung blanket, letting beautiful light stream in, but none of the outside actually showed. What he was left with was an imaginary beach scene to sit in and picnic, so he then uncovered Starfish's eyes.

Starfish kept her eyes closed for a moment more after the napkin had been pulled away, aware of a much brighter, purer light flooding into the room than before. She had heard small rattling and clunking sounds, so Kelly must have been moving her shells and things around, but it didn't sound like anything had broken. She slowly opened her eyes and winced at the bright light, blinking and focusing on the scene before her. For a second, it felt like she was back in one of her old childhood pre-Crack memories, before her vision adjusted to the sunlight and she could see what Kelly had done.
"Oh," she breathed softly. "Is this...?"

Starfish slid off of the couch and sat on the floor, her feet tucked underneath her.
"No, don't do that," she said suddenly. "This is... this is so sweet..." She was surprised to find tears welling up in her eyes. /What? Is this such a big deal?/ "This is one of the sweetest things anyone's ever done for me," she said honestly, picking up a small clam shell and running her paw pads across the smooth surface. She looked up at Kelly and finally smiled.

Starfish let herself bask in the happiness for a moment, and then picked up a cookie.
"You're already doing something special by being here," she said softly, breaking it in two and then catching herself. /No more cookie crumbling./ Her paws moved restlessly. /Can't you relax for once?/ She picked up her tail and ran the fluff through her paws while gazing at Kelly.

Starfish looked down and immediately stopped fidgeting.
"It's an unconscious habit," she apologized, smiling sheepishly and taking the lizard, running her paws down its back like she was giving it a massage. "Thank you," she said, looking up at Kelly and smiling. "It's such a sweet gift." /You're such a sweet bean.../ "Does he have a name?" she asked, squishing the plush animal gratefully.
