"Actions are worth thousands of words, Watson," he said through a smirk, "Now shut up and kiss me! Good lord, I'd think you'd be happy. You usually complain about how distant I am." He rolled his eyes. "So the second I try and, I don't know, be fun, you lose your mind! Peh. Whatever, bro."

The larger male rolled off the smaller, getting to his feet and ruffling his feathers before walking off. "I'm goin' ta bed. See you around."

There was an undertone of anger there that broke his usual coolness. He didn't intend for it to be there, it just...was. Hm. Stupid Fairyboy.

With a heavy sigh, the dark angel flopped onto the mattress he had on the floor. He argued for a while with the other angel of the house for the bed, but he had ultimately given up. Not usually his thing, but whatever.

"Stupid Fairyboy."

Joshua had watched Reeve storm into their small bedroom and stayed quiet. Well, I…I guess…but kissing isn't what friends do. Is it?

Slowly the Fallen sat up and arched his back, yawning like a cat. He hit the off button on the TV. Joshua made his way to the bedroom on four legs like a dog and leapt up on his bed. "For the last time, jerk, my name is Joshua. Not Pretty Boy, Twinkletoes, Watson, Fairyboy, or anything else. Not even Josh."

"Got that through your thick skull?"

Reeve grunted in reply, wings going rigid. "Fine, yeah whatever. Kiss my ass, Joshua."

And so he laid there, pretending to be asleep.


But, he wasn't.

Reeve could never sleep. He was haunted by nightmares that could make a demon weep for its unholy mother. Every night. That was one of the many reasons he was such a jerk. After however many weeks without even the contemplation of slumber, a guy tended to get...moody.

Reeve was sure by now Josh had noticed. But he never said anything, so many he didn't care. Or was he being nice?

Ah, damn. Too much thinking.

Headache.


He got those a lot. He hid it, mostly, but recently they'd gotten worse. Sleep and massive amounts of medication were the only things that kept them even somewhat at bay, and even then...ugh.

A frustrated sigh escaped the teen as his twilight-drenched wings sagged.

Joshua had leaned back against the pillows and snuggled with one of them under the blankets before he heard Reeve's sigh. The Fallen peeked open one ashy eye.

"Can't sleep?" He called softly, to be truthful Joshua thought that Reeve was simply an insomniac so that's why he had troubles sleeping and was so grumpy.

After a moment's hesitation Joshua sat up and looked down at Reeve. "Come up here."

"Why?" he snapped, "So you can yell at me more? Yeah, no thank you."

Truthfully he would've loved to be up there. It'd been...years, since he'd been next to another warm body. Even longer since he'd slept in an actual bed. But his grumpiness wasn't allowing him to shove away his ego and accept the smaller angel's offer, forcing the dark angel to remain, shivering, on the floor.

He grumbled. "Sorry."

Joshua gave a small shrug and scooted over a little bit so that if Reeve ever changed his mind there was room for him. "It's fine, suit yourself." He mumbled softly, a little hurt that his offer had been discarded like trash.

"Just don't treat me like a girl and I won't yell."

A sigh.

"Fine."

Reeve got to his feet, stretching his wings briefly before sliding into bed next to Josh, wrapping his arms around the smaller male and placing his forehead just between his wings. Husky-blue oculars squeezed shut as he let out a shaky sigh.

"I have nightmares, you know," he muttered softly. "They're awful. I think... I think that's my real punishment. Sure they banished me here, but they also torture me with these dreams, and I just... I can't sleep, and I know it makes me a jerk, and I'm sorry."

Another sigh, then he released Josh and rolled over, curling up under the blankets and holding his wings close to his back. "I doubt you care, though... I mean, why should you? You're...you, and I'm just some jerk you found on the street."

Joshua frowned softly as he listened to Reeve talk for a few minutes. He stayed quiet in the silence that lingered, then chose his next words carefully.

"You're not some jerk, Reeve…you're the person who's put up with my sassy attitude longer than anyone else. It's not your fault you can't sleep."

He blinked. Once, twice...

Wow.

Reeve rolled over again, tugging the smaller male to his chest and hugging him tightly. He whimpered. "I'm sorry, Josh, I am... Just...ugh." He cleared his throat, and his voice was even again. "Can I just...hold you? For now? Y-You're warm, and I'm cold, and it's just nice to... I don't know, be next to someone again but I don't want to do it if you don't want me to and-... Great, now I'm talking too much."

He rolled over again, feathers bristling. "Sorry, God, I'm such an idiot."

Joshua gave a small inward sigh as Reeve dealt with inner emotions. "…Do friends do that?" He asked softly. "I mean comfort and stuff like that. Because if they do…then sure."

Joshua hoped he wasn't sending off the wrong vibe. "I mean…we're friends, right?"
