Initiate Ferondir of MIra ~ MIra Village ~ A long time ago
He walked along the drive to the farm. He'd have to cross the farm to reach any kind of civilized building.
"I hope they're okay," he muttered.
The owner of Dawnberry farm wasn't exactly forgiving.
"Maybe they weren't caught." He heard hoofs on rocks and immediately dived into the bushes to one side of the road.
A horse without a carriage or rider sped through the place he'd been moments before, and continued into town.
He narrowed his eyes.
What was a horse doing running away from the farm?
He hoped Zeph wasn't what had scared it. "Blessed goddesses, protect them."
He continued toward the farm, aware the the sun was sinking lower, and vigilant because of it.
However, no more crazy equi passed his way.
He reached the farm. It was lit and he could see by the flickering light in the house that the farmer and his family were just settling to eat.
He lowered himself and rushed to the barn to his left.
"...you'll see, if I've done this right, this'll turn to iron," came Zeph's drawl.
"Really?" Cassie's voice asked. "Magic is awesome."
Ferondir edged around the side to the door, which had been left a little open. He looked inside, a little curious and afraid at the same time. "What are you up too?" He muttered.
Zeph and Cassie, their backs to the door, were standing in front of a crate, on which Ferondir could see a bowl of unidentified liquid. All else was blocked by their exited forms.
He stepped inside. "There you are!"
Cassie jumped and turned around.
Zeph, having probably just sensed him, just said. "You're just in time, come and see this!"
"What's going on?" Ferondir walked around to the other side of the table. "Are you transmuting?"
Zeph nodded, and continued scribbling runes on a cloth.
Ferondir picked up the wooden figure. It was an image of Leo, the king.
"He's going to turn it to gold." Cassie said.
"Well, metal." Zeph corrected her.
"Let's see it then." Ferondir set the statue back where he'd found it.
Zeph cleared his throat and wrapped the wooden doll in the runed cloth.
"Que esta cifra se convierta en la que he escrito."
A flare of purple light blinded them, and Ferondir was deluged in what seemed to be buckets of water.
He wiped his eyes and looked around. They were in the same place, but the barn had gone.
It seemed the other two had also been soaked.
The ground was muddy and the cloth was all that remained of the spell.
"What happened?" Cassie blubbered, drying her hair unsuccessfully on her shirt.
Zeph gasped upon realising what he'd done. "I've turned it all to water."
"What?" Ferondir asked. "The whole barn?"
"Seems so," Zeph said,
"I don't think the old man'll be too pleased with us."
"Yeah, let's get out of here."
The three ran for it, soaking wet.
"We're so going to pay for that later," Cassie panted, once they'd reached the city.
Zeph shook his hair, sending droplets at the other two.
"Watch it!" Ferondir howled, diving out of the way.
"It's just a little water." Cassie said. "And you're already soaked."
"I've dried a bit." Ferondir said. He could see the logic in her words, but he didn't want to admit he'd been wrong.
