The smile the tom offered her seemed to be contagious, and despite her concern, Cloudmask smiled back before the tom spoke again. Acornstream? Wasn’t he on of the dying cats Forestclan had been so worried about? She hesitated, recalling his use of the word was. Past tense. Had the tom joined Starclan? “I’m so sorry for your loss,” Cloudmask murmured sorrowfully, a moment or two later. The queen wondered if Applenose And Acornstream’s family would be able to see them again, the way Caveclan was able to during the ceremonies conducted at the moonpool. The entire clan gathered together at the moonpool at such times like the birth of a kit or, unfortunately, a death. The last time Caveclan had been at the moonpool, it was for Ebonywing and Maplekit, to honor them and say the clan’s goodbyes and of course, Ashstrike’s warrior ceremony.(tradition mentioned briefly in archive) Cloudmask had watched Ebonywing and Maplekit’s families say goodbye and had thought about how fortunate the clan was to have this. It didn’t bring the dead back to life, but it did offer some amount of relief, even if it was only a small amount. “I’m alright.” Cloudmask said, watching him quietly. “I do love leaf-bare, but it’s nice to be ableto warm up outside and seethe territory come back to life after all the snow.”

So she was a medicine cat? No wonder she was so casual about coming onto another Clan's territory as those of her rank had different laws of what they could and could not do unlike their warrior counterparts. Orchidnose now found it perfectly suitable to relax around this new cat - Smallwhisker, as she had introduced herself - without worrying about whether or not she would attack. " Orchidnose. I'm Orchidnose. " She mewed as she sat down, curling her gray tail over her paws. " I'm trying my best not to pry too much but, if you don't mind, what Clan are you from? I'm from PineClan, if that helps. "

''Moorclan.'' She knew that Fritillarystar would have a conniption if she knew that Smallwhisker was parting this information away to another, especially given how much information the name parted; their territory and where they lay was evident in the title. But care she did not, Smallwhisker was more than happy to exchange information with this pleasant enough warrior. ''We're over in those hills but please don't trespass; our leader is a control freak.'' She shook her head somberly. ''What's Pineclan like?'' Smallwhisker asked curiously. ''Do they believe in Starclan? Our clan does.''

Applenose closed his eyes and bowed his head at Cloudmask's acknowledgement. He felt better, somehow, knowing that she cared. When she mentioned the changing of seasons, he lifted his head. "The newleaf is quite beautiful in Forestclan," he said quietly. "The flowers bloom and the river swells. Mila and the other fishers are excited to dip their paws back in. I've never understood them," he said, forcing a chuckle that to his surprise, came out more genuine than he would have thought. "The river's always freezing, no matter what season it is."

Hillfang broke out into a broad grin when she saw Juniperpelt. Her anger and confusion melted away although in a small corner of her mind, still wondered how far she had run from home. "Yeah, I'm a bit lost," she admitted. In response to his question, her tail twitched and ears flicked backwards. "I, well, I got into a fight with Oakheart. He was my mentor, you know," she added quickly. "It was a stupid little thing. I just ran and somehow ended up here. How are you?" she added brightly.

Cloudmask smiled softly, a spark of amusement flickering in her eyes. “As it is in Caveclan although it’s late newleaf, early greenleaf where it’s the most pretty.” She told him. “In our southern territory, I think I’ve you that it’s primarily a field, well it’s covered in wildflowers. When your looking down at all the flowers and then the lake, it’s absolutely gorgeous.” Cloudmask told him. “Swimming is quite fun, even if it is cold. But you get used to it and it’s especially appreciated during greenleaf.” Cloudmask wasn’t much for speed and chasing down prey, but when it came to water hunting, she excelled. “You’re no fan of rivers then huh?” She asked, her eyes flickering with slight amusement.

Orchidnose was taken aback by how Smallwhisker addressed her leader, never once had she expected a cat speak of such a high ranking figure in that manner, and she wondered what kind of cat the MoorClan leader was if their own medicine cat called them a control freak. " Well... you certainly won't find me trespassing on MoorClan soil any time soon. You have my word. " She replied, briefly glancing at the land behind Smallwhisker before looking her way again, now noting how the flecks of sunlight decorated her tortoiseshell pelt quite nicely. Orchidnose flushed in embarrassment, berating herself for thinking of someone that way, someone from another Clan and a medicine cat no less. " I like to think we're as decent as a Clan should be, we treat everyone well enough, and of course we believe in StarClan. I don't think we'd be as fortunate as we are now if we didn't. " She mewed casually, finding it easy enough to converse with Smallwhisker now that the initial feeling of suspicion had passed.

" Oh you know, I just ran and somehow ended up here. " Juniperpelt japed, green eyes sparkling in amusement. In the back of his mind he wondered what could've happened between Hillfang and her former mentor that made her run so far from home, but he decided not to push it, instead electing to try and cheer her up to take her mind off of it for the time being. Orchidnose and Egrettail often did the same for him since he and Magpiewhisker fought so much that if he had a piece of prey for every argument, he was certain PineClan would never grow hungry again. However he was concerned over how she would be able to get home if she was lost, which brought an idea to mind. " I could help you find your way back, it wouldn't be any trouble. " He suggested, ignoring the fact that the farthest he had ever gone outside of PineClan territory was to the gathering hollow.

Applenose looked away, tail twitching with mild embarrassment. "Yeah," he said. "Well, Forestclan's primarily forest. It's the borders that are interesting. And rivers... They're cold, wet, and generally annoying. Honeystar lost a life some seasons back when she almost drowned." He smiled, though, at the thought of a field with wildflowers. "Your south sounds really beautiful," he said honestly. "We get lots of flowers in the newleaf too, and we also have a few vines that look striking during greenleaf."

"Umm, maybe?" said Hillfang hesitantly. "I kinda want things between us to cool down. What happened was..." She gulped, unsure if she should divulge the information to a non-Forestclanner. Granted, Juniperpelt had been nothing but kind... "Well, Oakheart wanted to talk to me right after the...the burial, and I just wanted to be alone. He insisted so I just...kinda ran away. It might be best if I wait a bit longer."

Smallwhisker nodded both gratefully and civilly. She was glad that Orchidnose wasn't going to play trespasser, although not for the reasons that she thought. ''Starclan's pretty strange anyhow.'' The tortoiseshell admitted, looking thoughtful all of a sudden. Their strange cryptic way of speaking and their somehow finite power; Starclan was truly something that she could not comprehend and Smallwhisker was afraid of what she couldn't understand. ''Impressive but strange.'' She murmured, frowning concernedly. Once again, she was thinking of her brother and his absence among their starry ranks. ''Anyhow, PineClan sounds pretty neat.'' She nodded slowly.

Cloudmask nodded, slightly uncomfortable when he mentioned Honeystar’s lose of a life but letting it go. They were allies, so his telling her such sensitive information was okay right? She wouldn’t ever tell anyone anything about it so the molly let it go, focusing instead on the tom, admiring his pelt. “Forestclan sounds really nice.” She told him. “We’re primarily forest as well, except for our southern territory of course. The forest around here is the most dense part of the forest though.” Blinking at him curiously, she tilted her head. “Why do you think your borders are the most interesting?”

Applenose smiled. "Well, we border mostly forest clans, but I swear we border every kind of territory there is," he said excitedly. "Like Flameclan is a swamp, while Frostclan and Verglasclan live in the mountains. Gustclan lives in a valley near a lake, and then virtually everyone else is forest. But even then, while we have trees with leaves that change color, I think that at least one border clan has trees with needle leaves." He paused. "I sometimes wish that I could travel and see all the different territories."
