"If you need help, Echoclan is always here." Raggedtail mewed to Mintstar, giving her a reassuring smile to try and comfort her, even though it didn't reach his grief-filled eyes. He looked up when it was his turn to do Echoclan's announcements. The ginger stepped forward, his tail twitching nervously.

"It is with a heavy heart that I bring you this information." He began. "A few days ago, Squirrelstar took a battle patrol to help Soulclan with a badger attack. Thankfully, most of the cats that took part in the battle managed to escape with only minor wounds... except Squirrelstar. Squirrelstar has joined Starclan and therefore has left Echoclan behind to me..."

Raggedtail broke off, his gaze searching the clearing for Brindlecloud. The she-cat nodded to him sadly. "I hope that everyone will welcome me as the new leader of Echoclan." He dipped his head before taking his spot back with the other leaders.

Brindlecloud closed her eyes, breathing in Appleheart's scent. She nodded sadly at her words, but knew she would never forgive herself. "How are things in Leafclan? Is Tawnykit alright?"

"I hope everyone recovers from the badger attack." Crowpaw mewed worriedly. "I'm sure if you talked to Raggedtail, he'd let myself and Brindlecloud come help out if you need us." He mewed. The black apprentice was certain Squirrelstar would let them go without them even having to ask, but he wasn't sure what type of leader Raggedtail would be yet.

Gorsebird laughed slightly. "I usually stick with my brother when we come to gatherings but Raggedtail didn't pick him to tag along this time." She mewed, licking her paw and drawing it over her seal-pointed ears. "So did you recently join Pineclan?"

Snakepaw thought for a moment then shook his head with a slight frown. "I have no clue." He mewed. "I'll have to wait and see what Raggedtail picks out for me when the times comes." He mewed. "I have one more training session then I can take my assessment." He let out a nervous sigh. "Luckily, I'll have Sandpaw to climb the mountain with. Possibly, Darkpaw and Brightpaw too if they finish their training as well."

Mousestar stood and dipped his head to Raggedtail sympathetically."If you ever need anything just ask." He looked out over the crowd of cat's below. "Hopeclan is doing well. Prey is running well, my apprentice is ready to become a warrior, and Starclan has granted our two queens with an overall number of seven kits!" He turned, sat and smiled kindly to the young leader who called himself Tunnelstar. "Welcome. I'm Mousestar, leader of Hopeclan, and I would be honored to be allies with Cliffclan. Leading will be difficult at times but it's the greatest, most worthwhile position in the clan. Once you have more cat's it'll feel like a huge family." He purred.

"Not really. We've been around for approximately 20 moons." She curled her tail over her paws. "We're quite a small clan compared to others though. Hopeclan is somewhat divided so there aren't many cats having kits, and our luck hasn't been wonderful when looking for loners to join us."

As the conversation goes on, Lionstar begins to feel more at ease surrounded by the other cats. While he is sitting among the leaders, he sees cats come and go, and wonders to himself if Windflight is the only warrior taking a deputy's position. He isn't concerned about that - what he thinks is that it's nice to be in a relaxed atmosphere. Things aren't as strict here as he remembered from his youth, and whether that is due to a change in behavior or simply to his broader perspective, he is not sure.

"It is nice to meet you Windflight, and being among the first clan-members is a great honor. You are helping to make your clan into what it is, from the foundation upward." He smiles warmly.

He is basking in the feelings of comraderie with his new acquaintances, and is quite pleased when Fritillarystar says, "Well, I wish you luck; clans grow quickly thankfully."

The pale ginger tom is already beginning to daydream about the future when he replies, "Thank you, and I wish the best of luck for you as well. Perhaps next gathering you will see a few more cats here beside me."

He then gracefully steps back when he sees Frittilarystar and Amberstar talking amongst themselves.

Briefly, Lionstar considers asking whether either of them would want to be allies with his clan, but he does not have much to offer just yet, and considers that it may be prudent to wait until his clan has grown larger.

Fritillarystar - Talking to Foxstar
Peace without justice is tyranny

One by one, the leaders made their announcement's known and excusing herself from her conversation with Lionstar and Amberstar, Fritillarystar stepped up before another could speak. ''I grieve for the late Squirrelstar, I didn't know her but I'm sure she was a good leader.'' The tortoiseshell murmured, glancing at the cats of Echoclan; there were many and she fancied it wise to befriend them. Glancing around the gathering, she felt a little miffed that a couple of them were still talking but then again, Fritillarystar knew that karma would get them later. ''I offer three alliegences today; with Lionstar, Amberstar and of course, Raggedstar.'' She smiled politely, before continuing. ''My clan is growing quickly; almost too many cats to count but they'd number more than thrice the cats here.'' Fritillarystar smile soon crashed off her face. ''However, we have a murderer on the loose; a strong-framed silver tabby with bright green eyes, the name's Nettlefang, keep an eye out for him.'' She frowned. ''And bring him to us; dead preferably.''

And with that, she stepped back sighing. Nettlefang would soon be brought to justice and hopefully be cursed to wander forever in the darks of the dismal dark forest; Fritillarystar smiled wanly, looking about the gathering. She was about to leave when she spotted a lonely looking tom, a potential allie perhaps?

foxstar's thoughts were interrupted by a molly's voice. the ginger tom shifted his gaze from the assembled cats to the leader speaking to him. "rather well, thank you. excuse me for a second..." he stepped forward when it was his turn to do his announcements. "mapleclan has uncovered a murderer in it's ranks. our medicine cat was able to stop her before she did any more damage. unfortunately, that liberation came at the cost of his life, as well as many others. we have been recovering from this incident quite well and are strong once more," the ginger tom turned to face raggedtail before continuing, "i have only spoken with squirrelstar once or twice, but i know that she was a great and kind leader. may starclan light your path." foxstar stepped back and continued speaking to fritillarystar. "and you? how are you and your clan doing?"

briarleap walked through the crowd of cats with a seemingly unperturbed calm. she sat down in the deputy group, alone in a corner, not saying a word. she curled her tail over her paws and continued her endless reflection on recent events in her clan, completely unaware of her surroundings.

frostnose held the apprentice's curious glare and guessed she had figured it out by now. fogkit continued to sign what they were saying, and the medicine cat quietly watched the young cats speak.

"nice to meet you too." fogkit didn't speak this much at home, but he enjoyed speaking to maplepaw. she seemed to be as shy as he was, so for once he didn't feel like he was talking too slowly. "pineclan? aren't you one of the biggest clans around?"

cloverpaw looked up when a cat spoke to him. he hadn't heard them approach, so they're sudden appearance slightly startled him. "oh, hello. i'm cloverpaw from mapleclan. nice to meet you two. caveclan? don't we border each other?"

She watched Foxstar deliver his message thoughtfully, taking note of the former murder in his clan and the way that the murder had so apparently being rid of. Curiosity piqued, Fritillarystar dipped her head respectfully when he returned to her presence. ''I'm fine, thank you, or least as much as I can be until I rid my clan of it's own murderer.'' The dark molly took a shaky sigh. ''Why do some cats strive to cause such trouble for good cats like you and I?''

Oakstar stepped up to the platform.
“First off... Id like to offer my condolences to, um, uh... Raggedtail’s clan.” Oakstar struggled with a loss for words. “Second, I’m pleased to say I've made two, um... Alliances. With Lilystar and her new clan and Tunnelstar and his clan. I also got a new Deputy, Ashcloud. I also realized Creampaw, my apprentice, went missing. If you find the cream coloured cat, please let us know. He's just about 7 moons old and his curiosity always gets the best of him.”
There. Done. Her first ever announcement!
She stepped off the platform.

xxxxxxxxGustclan hadn't attended a gathering in moons, and had never been regular visitors yet, so making an announcement now felt bizarre, but there were likely at least some cats who expected news from her, so Heronstar gave a short pause following Oakstar before she spoke, she considered jumping into the newly vacated space, but she wasn't the best jumper, and knocking other cats off may not be the most diplomatically wise move. Instead she did her best to find a slightly raised spot without having to knock anyone from their position, and cleared her throat in the most delicate way she could manage.
xxxx"Condolences to Echoclan. I trust Squirrelstar has reached Starclan. Through what regrettably little I knew of her, she was a fine leader, and I am sure she will remain a fine guide for you from the stars for many moons to come." Heronstar did not speak her thoughts on Raggedtail's potential as leader, though she would have liked to if she could, because she had no exposure to him at all, and so could not truthfully comment. But she did offer him a sympathetic and encouraging look.
xxxx"Gustclan has fared well these last few moons. We've had four new kits born, and proud new parents. A patrol earlier today found trace of a queen and her kits on our borders, and my deputy, Chubtail, hopes to encourage her into clan life in the morn, so there will likely be even more young paws in our camp shortly. Firepaw has become the warrior Firepath, and two of our kits have become apprentices." She didn't want to add that it almost felt like things were going too easily for Gustclan as it was, and that she was dreading what curse the Dark Forest would bring upon her, for that was not something to discuss during a gathering or where all ears could hear, though it was true. She turned her head towards Fritillarystar. "Though I am not willing to encourage my warriors to kill, your warning is greatly appreciated. We will make sure that, should we meet him, we will be wary of him, and return him to your clan."
xxxxHeronstar stepped down from the spot she had chosen for announcements, letting the next cat speak.

xxxxChubtail was (for once) far more concerned about the risks of Heronstar's decisions than she was. Bringing Merlinpaw and their own kits was clearly a recipe for disaster, however she justified it to herself. They'd probably be picking up the pieces of their apprentices later in the night. Trying to keep his mind focused on being a deputy and on not falling into dad-mode was going to take a lot of effort.

xxxxHe felt almost a little dirty as he approached the other medicine cats. Sure, Heronstar had said that he could, in theory, actually have kits of his own if there still weren't any medicine cat apprentices around, but he had just acted on that without asking strict permission. And here were a load of cats who Starclan were openly communicating to who could maybe, therefore, work out why he probably looked a bit uncomfortable despite his best efforts.
xxxxHarrierpelt did his best not to look guilty as he approached the others.

xxxxOsierfang had chuckled at Merlinpaw's assertions that he never bragged (spoken under his breath) as they neared the other cats in the clearing. She was still smiling to herself as she made her way over to the other warriors, but, more importantly, she was keeping an eye out for Merlinpaw so she could step in in the case of the inevitable stupidity he was about to get himself in for.

xxxxFirepath's eyes stayed fixed on the potential troublemakers from his clan until he almost jumped at being addressed by another tom. He tried not to show his surprise as he looked across to where the voice had come from, a light ginger-y coloured tom, almost cream, with hazel eyes.
xxxx"Firepath. Formerly of Lunarclan, now of Gustclan." It felt odd not including where he was born. Lunarclan didn't exist any longer, so he didn't have any issues with potentially conflicting loyalties and anyone could know that, but he'd been born expecting to be Fire- of Lunarclan, and the idea had stuck. "I've only been to one gathering before, so it's all a bit unfamiliar. The other tom's nervousness was fairly apparent, so he said that to at least provide some form of reassurance.

xxxxMartinwhisker had never been to a gathering before, not since joining Gustclan, not since becoming a warrior in his clan that had broken down many moons back, and not as an apprentice. He jolly well wasn't going to be telling Firepath that he had less experience at gatherings than the newly named warrior. As if to prove his point, he walked right into the crowd of warriors (while Firepath stayed milling near the edge), tail high to show his (fake) confidence, and started speaking to the first unoccupied cat he found.

xxxxPff, what pointless bragging? What bragging? It wasn't bragging if you really were
awesome, amazing, and frankly, now he thought of it, devilishly handsome too. If you had to lie to make it the case (and Merlinpaw would assure anyone that he wasn't lying), then it was bragging. Merlinpaw, of course, did not brag. Of course. He just... wouldn't be telling the best of his stories to all the other apprentices.
xxxxAfter all, it wouldn't make sense for other clans to know exactly what they were up against when they messed with Gustclan. It made sense to have some points about his brilliance kept secret.
xxxxMerlinpaw positively strutted up to the group of apprentices, trying to almost personify the idea of "fashionably late" to a set of cultures which had probably never even heard of it.

xxxx"Stop shoving me, and just move yourself, I know you can go faster!" Cicelypaw was long since fed up of her brother's stupid patronising protectiveness, but for all intents and purposes, he was her eyes (a rubbish pair of eyes), and she was scared (though she would never admit it) of getting lost in the woods and encountering another dog and it finishing off the work it had started on her tail... She wasn't going to be trying to ditch him unless it proved necessary for the sake of relieving boredom and thus maintaining sanity. "Or do you like being scratched?"
xxxxEven though Cicelypaw was terrible at actually aiming her blow, Ploverpaw didn't, so he stopped his stupid head-butting and actually did his job of guiding her in his own stupendously over-cautious way.
