Rianon trailed behind Keegan toward the satyr family. She looked at them in admiration, wishing she was able to pick up on the little things that they seemed to find so easily. "We need to find the goddess Soteria," she chimed in, looking at the satyr father.
"We know she hasn't really been seen much since ancient times, but we're pretty sure that she's somewhere in this area, we were wondering if you might know anything about where we can find her."

(just to let you know, my college was on strike all this time and they just called us back to classes. I'm gonna be super busy for the next while cause they're cramming half a semester into between now and Christmas)

They were a little nervous that the family would get hostile and take off, but that didn't seem t I be the case. His wife, a wood dryad they'd learned, resumed putting their children in the car while he stood in front of them both, scratching his head.
"Well, can't say she's easy to find. She tends to keep to herself a lot of times. A tad paranoid if you ask me," he said as he fished the keys out of his pockets, "I can drive you over to the trail head that leads to her fortress, but the rest of the way you'll have to go on your own."

Rianon breathed a sigh of relief when the satyr said he would take them to where they would most likely find Soteria. She was glad that they'd finally found someone who not only didn't want to kill them but also knew where they needed to go. "Oh, that would be wonderful, thank you so much," she said when he was finished with his offer. "We've been searching for her with no luck for a while now."

The satyr chuckled and moved toward the front of the car, "that sounds like her. Crawl in the back, it won't take long."
Keegan muttered about a thousand thank-yous as they opened the back doors and slid into the back seat. A little dryad and a baby satyr sat in twin booster seats in the back, both gaping at them.
"Hello," they said as they sat down beside the young dryad.
"Are you guys heroes!?" She asked as she gaped at their weapons. Keegan let out a laugh and conceded, happy to oblige in entertaining the child. They looked up over at Rianon and shot her a small smile before answering yet another one of her many questions.

Rianon laughed, watching Keegan interact with the small dryad. She seemed so curious about the two of them, asking a million questions with wide eyes. "So what brings you guys out here looking for Soteria?" the dryad woman asked from the front seat.
Rianon's smile faded as she was brought back to why they were on the quest. "Camp Halfblood is in trouble. Someone is trying to take control of it, it's under attack. We think it's the Titans again."

The banter between the back seat died off as they all realized the gravity of the situation, "ya, Soteria is the only hope of protecting the camp right now."
Both mom and dad seemed rather worried now that they'd brought that up. The Titans weren't lenient with anyone and they had kids to worry about. Luckily, he didn't lie en they said he drive wouldn't take long. The car pulled off the regional highway and into a dirt parking lot for a set of trails.
"Hopefully she'll help you, for all our sakes," he said before unlocking the doors, "I'm afraid this is where I leave you."
"Thanks again for this, we're indebted to you," they said as they slipped out of the car and into the lot.

Rianon stepped out of the back of the car and waved good bye as the family drove off. She turned back toward the path in front of them and took a deep breath. She was afraid of what might await them when they reached the end. She looked over at Keegan, glad that out of everyone they were the one who was with her for this. "I hate to say it, but it's almost been too easy to get here," she said nervously. "I mean, sure, hellhounds and harpies did try to kill us but, why wasn't it worse? What if something is waiting for us when we get to Soteria?"

The ebony-haired person let out a shaky sigh and didn't move their hand from their shadow dagger, of which they hadn't let go of since late last night.
"It's likely something will be. Hells, something might be in the bushes waiting to pounce on us now. We've got to keep an eye out but still go on," they noted and decided to walk ahead. After a few steps though, they turned to look back at Rianon and shot her a smile, "stick close, ok?'

Rianon couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad was waiting for them but she followed after Keegan anyway. She smirked at Keegan and said, “Oh I’ll stick close. Someone’s got to keep you out of trouble.” She was hoping her teasing would lighten the mood a little bit but there was still a heavy feeling in her stomach.

They let out a laugh and walked into the bush. They were about to join in the banter when a crunching of twigs and leaves came from their right and sounded way too big to be either of them.
"Good thing you stuck close," they muttered icily, angry whatever it was killed the mood, "looks like we've got company."
Pulling out their shadow dagger, another rustle from the left caught their attention. Then another, then another. We're outnumbered...fantastic.
