she meets his gaze, steadily, calculating. what would forming an alliance with this tom mean? he was strange - but only starting out. "it's alright," she said calmy. "i'm still quite unsure myself. i went to visit my anscestors today." she adds, turning back towards the crowd. "where is your deputy? i'm sure if we called our deputies over we could have a full meeting together."

at the call of a she-cat, smokestep's lips curled up into a sinister smirk. "hey gorgeous." he chuckles, sidling up to her casually. "all alone? what a shame," he says. "a pretty she-cat like you should have good company." his smirk widens with this one, and his eyes flash playfully. he turns to the other she-cat, an even more sinister grin on his face. "oh-ho, leaving so soon?"

"you think?" she asks, uncertain. "i just want the best for them, y'know?" mintdew murmurs, gaze flickering from the floor to mila. "do you have kits?" she asks.

Squirrelstar looked up, startled to see Ramhorn in front of her. "Oh, Ramhorn!" She cried, touching her nose to his before stepping back. "Ramhorn, so much has happened." She mewed, a worried look in her eyes. "Shrewtail, Simon, Smokespeck and Poppypounce all died a moon or so ago. I... I lost two lives, I possibly will still lose more." The light ginger tabby looked past Ramhorn to where Brindlecloud was. "I think Brindlecloud had kits, Ramhorn. I went into her den yesterday and she was eating parsley. Doesn't that dry up a queen's milk?"

"Hello." Raggedtail mewed to the she-cat as she came up to him. "I'm Raggedtail, the deputy of Echoclan."

Brindlecloud perked up when she saw Appleheart. "I'm doing good. How are you?" She asked, purring happily. She looked around to make sure the other medicine cats weren't paying attention. "Is Tawnykit doing okay?"

Snakepaw blinked at the Pineclan she-cat that came up to him. Pineclan? Isn't that where Ramhorn went? He thought. The brown tabby shook the thought off before smiling at Acornpaw. "Hi! I'm Snakepaw of Echoclan." He mewed, his tail swishing happily. He had been the only apprentice from Echoclan that got to go tonight and he felt lonely without his sister by his side, so talking with Acornpaw was a welcome distraction. "How are you?"

loststar nodded to the molly, turning his head to look down at the clearing. he spotted burningclaw almost immediately. "my deputy is right there." he said, pointing his tail at her so briarstar could identify her.

burningclaw's tail lashed a bit as she heard troutgrass follow her, but she resolved to ignore him. this new tom was interesting, and the molly as well. "i'm not alone anymore." she purred, smirking at the tom. if he thought she would back away, he was dead wrong. besides, didn't loststar say she would have to mate with a member of the clan they would ally with? if they picked dawnclan, she wanted this tom. she turned to the molly and looked at her properly for the first time. she was absolutely adorable. "indeed! it's just rude to leave early at a party~" she said, giving the molly a playful smirk.

"Cheer up, Lionheart," he mewed, "we're not that late. Besides, we've never been here before, so it's not like we're in any huge trouble for getting lost." The black tom bounded toward the mass of cats eagerly, excited to mix & mingle and meet new potential friends. He'd never seen so many cats in one place! "You remember what we talked about?" She whispered urgently, and Badgerstar flicked his tail dismissively. "Yeah, yeah, I got it. I'll see you later!" And before she could say anything else, he bounded off into the fray, looking for a new cat to converse with.

As Lionheart wandered, she could feel her head swimming with thoughts. There were so many things that could go wrong and she would have tried harder to persuade Badgerstar not to attend tonight if the tom hadn't looked so excited about meeting new friends. The she-cat sighed, shaking her head, before she ran straight into another cat. She lept back immediately. "I'm so sorry," she mewed, glancing worriedly at the younger molly, afraid that she'd hurt her, "terribly, terribly sorry. I was too caught up in my own thoughts to notice you. I'm so sorry, again. You're okay, right?" She felt herself get hot under the fur. Embarrassment coursed through her like a fire, as she mentally kicked herself. What leader walked into innocent cats at a gathering and then spent time apologizing like a blubbering mess?

briarstar squints her eyes and peers across the clearing. she spots the she-cat loststar was gesturing to and lets out a groan. "along with my deputy, who can't seem to stop flirting for his life. smokestep! get over here before you become the father of two litters!" with that, smokestep turned and trotted over, letting out a chuckle as he neared. "why can't i have my fun?" he asks, with glittering eyes. "because you're not a young warrior anymore, get it together." she snapped. she was tired of all of his antics today - there wasn't any time for this.

he begins to say another thing, but briarstar calls him over. "excuse me ladies," he says, trotting of to greet his leader. dipping his head to loststar, he settles down next to briarstar, beckoning burningclaw over. "oh, i should probably introduce myself. i'm smokestep, esteemed deputy of dawnclan." briarstar let out a snort at the mention of being esteemed - he was anything but that.

Crowcloud saw that Brindlecloud was talking to a different tom. At this point, he was starting to suspect something between them, but as before, it wasn't his place to ask or to tell. He would stay true to his role. He spotted Crowpaw next to her and padded up to him. "Hey," he said. "How's Echoclan been? And how's your training going?"

Dustleaf laughed. "That's a lot of kits! But then, we have seven... I can understand why Shadedleaf wanted to let 'em rest. And the kits don't do much for the first half-moon or so."

"Forestclan's also pretty good," replied Cherryclaw. "We also have lots of prey, and two litters. Those kits are adorable but a headache." She made a face. "Thankfully one litter is moving out of the nursery soon. How old are your clan's kits?"

Egretstep had wandered through the crowd, not speaking to anyone until he saw a tom whose expression was...irritated? Pleased? He couldn't tell. He walked up to the tom and spoke. "Hello," he said in his raspy voice. "I'm Egretstep of Forestclan. What clan are you from?"

Mila shook her head. "No," she said, "but severral queens in the clan have had kits." She paused. Did she want to have kits? She wasn't sure yet, but maybe in time. "I don't know my clanmates too well, yet," she admitted. "What happens is what happens."

Oakheart smiled and shook his head. "Nah," he said. "My second. The last Gathering was...fun." That was one way of putting a fight at the Gathering. "I haven't heard of Pineclan yet. Are you new?"

Hillpaw was nervous for her first-ever Gathering. Oakheart had encouraged her to mingle with apprentices from other clans and she could see him sitting under a tree, relaxing and watching. She looked away and wandered further into the clearing. There was so much space!

She saw a pair of cats that looked to be her age and padded over to them. "Umm, hi?" she said uncertainly. "I'm, uh, Hillpaw of Forestclan."

loststar nodded politely at the tom, hiding his amusement. "loststar. a pleasure." he waved his tail to burningclaw, who bounded right up and promptly sat next to the deputy. loststar felt the urge to claw himself.

burningclaw' watched as the two toms beckoned her over. she flounced to them, her head high. was this talk of an alliance? of course it was. she sat next to smokestep and purred, "fancy seeing you here. burningclaw, deputy to loststar." she batted her eyeslashes at him with a smirk.

briarstar rolled her eyes. so much for being mature. "anyways, i was thinking, loststar, what would you think of an alliance?" she proposed, boldly. she and loststar got along well enough, plus, as lostclan grows so will dawnclan. they could be powerful together - and who didn't like power?

"anyways, i was thinking, loststar, what would you think of an alliance?" an alliance?! he had been too busy mooning at burningclaw to pay attention, but quickly snapped back to reality. an alliance meant having to constantly deal with the same she-cat - he couldn't have that. burningclaw didn't seem to be the type to let go of what she wanted, but he was having fun like he said he would. despite his inner protests, he sidled closer to burningclaw.

mintdew paused as well, taking in her surroundings. "ah, i don't know my clanmates well at all either." she adds, settling her paws under her comfortably. "really? you just seemed so sure, i assumed you did." she shrugs. "that must mean you'll make a good mother then," said mintdew nonchalantly.

"Training has been going well." Crowpaw mewed happily, his tail swishing back and forth. "We did lose a few more warriors to the red plague though. Smokespeck, Simon and Poppypounce passed away a few days ago." Crowpaw's happiness died down slightly. "We thought everyone was going to die too, especially when Foamkit caught the red plague. But we started trying every herb that we could. We found what cured it." Crowpaw scoffed slightly, a clearly agitated look on his face. "Honey! Of all things!"

Beestripe stumbled slightly when she felt a bigger she-cat run into her. The dark tabby looked up, scoffing in offense when the she-cat asked if she was alright. "I am just fine, thank you very much." Beestripe lashed her tail. She stiffened slightly when she heard her mother call her name. She looked over to Squirrelstar, who was giving her a stern look. Beestripe rolled her eyes before looking at the she-cat. "I'm fine, sorry for snapping." She mumbled, her tail-tip twitching. "I'm tougher than I look, don't worry." The newly-named warrior mewed, puffing her chest out.

"I'm Beestripe of Echoclan, by the way. What's your name? I haven't seen you before."
