Emily smiled softly and nodded. “It is good for him. He’s a really great person and thank you.” She said softly. As they headed back to the house she picked up his nervous energy about the bonfire and laughed slightly. “Well we have to get a variety of drinks and you’re forgetting the most important bonfire food.” Teased Emily lightly as she left him momentarily in suspense. “ you can’t have a bonfire without s'more's “ she said cheerfully. She giggled before continuing. “It’s all going to be great but I’ve got extra chairs here that we can bring over. Don’t you stress out. We got this.” She offered kindly.

Logan smiled as he moved around the furniture as much as possible. He looked around the room then back to her. “The room looks absolutely beautiful. You got an eye for design that’s for sure.” He said softly. He walked with her out to the living room and sat on the couch. “ your notebook is beautiful. I hope you show it to her one day.” He said gently. He rubbed her arm lightly as she laid her head on his shoulder. “Ooh very nice. I think of those five I like Adalyn and Eliana.” Said Logan gently. “Hey why don’t you get some rest before the bonfire.ill be back to pick you up around 6.” He said gently. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head before disappearing outside.

Emily showered and began to her ready for tonight’s bonfire. Man did she want to make sure she looked good. Ryann was starting to get to her. He was just so handsome and definitely made her blush and flustered at times. Butterflies moved around her stomach at the thought. She sighed and moved to her closet trying to decided between a short dress, jean shorts and jeans. She grumbled slightly. She was no good at this. Emily finally decided on her short Jean shorts, her boots and a crop top. She did her makeup and curled her hair as she finished pinning it back. Emily squealed with excitement and raced downstairs. She grabbed a speaker in cases Ryann forgot one and quickly drove to Ryann’s house eager to see him.

Emily pulled up and noticed some of the others had arrived. She slowly made her way to the host as she tried not to interrupt a conversation he had been having. “Hey cowboy. You did a great job.” She spoke kindly. Emily offered him a happy smile trying not to stare at just how good he looked.

Logan texted Ryann to see if he needed anything from the store before driving home. He house wasn’t far from Emily’s and he could’ve honestly walk home but it was just so hot out. He ran inside and showered knowing he didn’t want to stink for the bonfire. He ran a hand through he hair and glanced at the time on his phone. Slowly, he pulled on a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. Logan reached for one boot at a time and fixed his hair as he stood up. He had enjoyed the day with Arabella and was excited for her to meet everyone at the bonfire.

Logan heard his phone chime and saw Emily had asked for him to grab a few extra chairs. He threw them in the back of his truck with a soft grunt. Logan looked around thinking if there would be anything else Ryann would’ve forgotten but he knew his friend probably had the rest. Logan climbed into his truck and drove to Arabella’s to pick her up. He gently knocked on the door. “Hey you ready for the bonfire? “ he asked softly. “You look beautiful by the way”

Arabella woke from her nap and stretched. She glanced at the time and hummed softly in thought before heading towards her bathroom to shower and get ready. She carefully used her curling iron to leave her thick, honey blonde hair, framing her face in soft waves. She put on some lipgloss and mascara before going into her room to dig through her boxes of clothes they had yet to be unpacked. Eventually she pulled out a powder blue sundress covered in tiny white flowers. After getting dressed she slipped on her brown leather sandals and gave herself a once over in the mirror. For the first time in a long time she smiled softly while looking at her reflection. Hearing the knock at her door she quickly headed to answer it, smiling warmly at Logan, “As ready as I’ll ever be.” She giggled softly and gently interlinked their arms, “You didn’t do half bad yourself.” She teased playfully. As they approached the truck she climbed in and hummed along with the music as Logan drove. As Tennessee whiskey came on she reached over and turned it up, singing along with her eyes closed as he drove.

After Ryann had gotten home he headed straight to the backyard to make sure everything was good to go for the bonfire. He cleared out some space around the homemade pit he had and set up the chairs he had as well as moved some of the logs he wasn’t burning to be used either for a spot to set stuff down at or put their feet up. Once he was happy with the set up he had, he headed inside to shower and change, tossing on a simple grey tee with a pair of dark blue jeans and his favorite boots. Once he was dressed he decided to dab on a little cologne before heading back downstairs to get the fire started. He had spent plenty of time collecting branches and wood to throw into the pit and burn. Once he had the fire lit he headed inside to grab the cooler and bring it out, setting it up with all of the drinks before grabbing a smaller separate cooler that housed all of the food and condiments. Before long people began arriving and he began chatting. Most of them were old friends and neighbors. When he saw Emily a smile spread across his face as he gently waved her over. Chuckling softly as she spoke he flashed her a smile, “Why thank you. I always like to think I throw a pretty good ho-down.” He grinned before motioning to the set up, “Feel free to enjoy a drink or some food. This is just about everyone I think Logan and the new neighbor are on their way.” He smiled warmly at her, his eyes trying hard to not stare at her as he admired how she looked.

Emily bounced happily over to Ryann. She shrugged softly and bit her lip before helping her some. “I can’t wait to meet her. And this Logan guy you talk about. He’s the worst. Too polite.” She teased with a soft laugh. She blushed some. “You look handsome by the way.” She said sweetly. Emily was trying just as hard not to stare at him in complete awe. The way he moved and his muscles flexed gave her butterflies. His cologne smelt too. She went to grab a drink and turned into him. She hadn’t expected him to be there. Before long, she could no longer resist the urge she had. She softly cupped his face and pressed and gentle kiss to his lips. Emily pulled away and blushed completely wildly. “I’m sorry…” she stammered as she took a step back. She quickly poured more of her drink down her throat and looked away.

Logan grinned seeing her. She was so beautiful. Both inside and out. He helped her into the truck and glanced over to her when she turned the radio up. He smiled a bit to himself and reached over. He softly rubbed the top of her hand with his thumb. Logan quickly pulled into the long driveway of the farm. He almost slammed on his breaks when he saw Emily kiss Ryann. He was sure that his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him, if he had had a drink he would have spit it everywhere. He pulled into his normal spot and climbed out of the truck. Logan quickly went around to help her. “Well madam, here we are. The long awaited fire.” He said with a smile. He held out his hand and closed the truck door behind her. “Would you like a drink or some food? To meet people? What would you like to do first?” Asked Logan happily

Arabella blushed softly, feeling his thumb run over her hand was oddly comforting. Gently, she squeezed his hand before he pulled it away to turn into the driveway. As he helped her out of the truck she smiled warmly at him and gave him a gentle squeeze of the hand, "Mmm, I'm not sure I haven't done a bonfire in a long time but something to drink does sound nice." She spoke softly, sticking close to him as they walked over to where there were coolers set up. Everyone was happily mingling around them and she felt at ease and safe with Logan near her. She picked up a bottle of water and looked up at him, blushing softly as she admired his features. The light from the fire bouncing off his face and casting shadows that outlined his features. She tore her eyes away to look down at the ground, blushing heavily and rubbing the back of her neck, "So uhm... what should we do?" The young woman said sheepishly.

Ryann smiled and chuckled with her as she laughed, "You're telling me." He teased, looking down at her as she seemed to be distracted by something, "You look amazing." He smiled warmly at her before turning his attention back to the conversation from the people around him. Noticing she seemed to be more distracted than before, he excused himself and followed behind her as she headed to get a drink. When she turned into him he gently caught her arm, raising an eyebrow, "You alright?" He asked gently. As she closed the distance and placed a kiss on his lips he found himself shocked. When she pulled away and looked away he gently reached over, setting her drink on the table before pulling her in by the waist and pressing his lips against hers. He pulled back and winked, "Don't be sorry." He murmured softly to her before kissing her forehead gently, "Never apologize for doing something I didn't have the guts to do first." He teased gently.

Emily softly kissed him back and smiled happily up at him. She was glad she took the risk even though she knew his reaction could’ve been completely different. She pressed a light kiss to his cheek and softly reached for her drink. She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards Logan and the new neighbor that she absolutely had to me. “Hey stranger. “ she teased Logan shaking her head. She hadn’t seen him around the farm all day. She turned politely toward the girl in front of her. “Hi I’m Emily and this is Ryann. I’m so glad we finally get to meet. Logan has been hogging you since you came into town.” She teased with a light and happy laugh. She offered Arabella a big smile.

Logan watched Emily and Ryann for a moment before turning to Arabella. He grabbed a drink and watched her for a moment. He was just about to invite her to dance when he was interrupted by his friends. He shook his head. He greeted his friends and pulled Ryann to the side for a moment while the girls talked. “What on earth was that as I pulled into the driveway. Don’t think I didn’t see it. I’ve got lots of questions for you.” He said softly. He took another sip of his drink and grinned. He was a bit shocked by what he had seen but was happy for his friend.

Arabella smiled softly, taking the drink from his hands and thanking him. She turned her attention to Emily as she introduced herself, Arabella offered her a warm smile, “I’m Arabella, Bella for short.” She winced and shifted her weight, “Sorry she’s using my organs as a punching bag right now.” She laughed sheepishly, gently rubbing her belly. She turned her attention back to Emily, “I feel like I’ve stolen him away from everyone else.” She blushed heavily and rubbed the back of her neck, “He’s been such an amazing help today though. I really do appreciate him helping me get settled in the new house.” She smiled softly, “Moving is hard, moving when pregnant is harder, moving alone and not knowing anyone is the worst, but he’s been amazing helping out and making it not feel so daunting.” The young woman smiled warmly. She glanced over at him, blush creeping up on her cheeks again. She hated to admit she was falling for him. “But that’s enough about me, what do girls do for fun around here?” She grinned softly at Emily, “I mean if you don’t mind me prying of course!”

Ryann smiled warmly at her and kissed her forehead before lacing their fingers together and following her. As they approached the new neighbor and Logan he chuckled at Emily before nodding to Arabella as she introduced herself. As the girls got to talking he followed Logan to the side and chuckled softly, “Honestly I have no clue. I mean don’t get me wrong I’d been interested in her for ages, but her kissing me is not something I had on my bingo card. I’m glad she did though. I’m going to work hard to make sure I don’t mess this up.” He said firmly. He looked over to the girls talking before looking back to Logan, “Speaking of questions I’ve barely seen you today, and the way you look at her tells me this is more than just being a good neighbor.” He teased and playfully clapped his hand against Logan’s shoulder, “So what’s going on there? Not to be that guy but do keep in mind if you go down that route it’s not just her, it’s that baby too, and any other chaos in her life.” He pointed out gently. He was happy for his friend but he also was worried about him biting off more than he could chew.

Logan chuckled at his friend. He knew that Ryann had had a crush on Emily for almost forever now. He hadn’t expected Emily to feel the same way. However, he was glad that she had interest in his good friend. He knew that they would be good for each other. Emily definitely had some rough patches when it caked to guys. This was a guy he could support though. “Just know if you break her heart, I’m picking her over you.” He teased his friend. He laughed and hit his shoulder lightly: Logan took in a deep breath at his friends remark and bit his lip. “I’m not sure exactly what’s going on. She’s very see though. I’m just helping her out for now. We will see where things go. I understand that there is a lot to the situation but that doesn’t scare me. I promise I’ll be careful.” He said quietly. He glanced towards the girls and was trying not to stare at Arabella. Her smile was contagious. “You going to ask your girl to dance?” Asked Logan as the music got a little louder.

Emily smiled and squeezed his hand before Ryann pulled Logan to the side for some guy talk. She glanced at him a few times and then back to Bella. “It is so nice to meet you. Oh my gosh that’s amazing you’re having a little girl. We will have to have a baby shower for you.” Said Emily cheerfully. “Oh it’s okay that you’ve stolen him away. We didn’t miss him that much anyway.” She joked. She continued after a moment. “Logan is a great guy though for real. I’ve known him almost my whole life. You can’t find much better than him. “ she said noticing the blush and change of subject, “oh we go shopping and dancing sometimes and ride horse, oh and the fall festivals are fun and of course this fire. The dinner is delicious. “Said Emily babbling. She found herself momentarily staring at Ryan and blushed more. She glanced back to Bella. “We should hang out more. Oh and if you need help with anything or a girl to go baby shopping with I’m all yours!”

Arabella blushed and smiled sheepishly, “I would love to have a baby shower, I had a theme planned out for one ages ago but after actually getting pregnant, everything happening, and then moving out here… Well I guess I just figured it wasn’t in the cards right now.” She said shyly, rubbing the back of her neck. She smiled warmly as Emily didn’t fight the change of subject and began to list different things, the young woman hummed softly, “All of that sounds amazing! We definitely should plan a girls day together, just go out do some shopping, I can make us a killer lunch too!” She offered excitedly. It had been ages since she had a girls day and was excited that she had the chance to have such an amazing friend. As the music began to get louder she exchanged contact information with Emily and stepped off to the side as Ryann came over and swept her away to dance. She smiled softly, watching the two of them move effortlessly together. The young woman turned her attention to Logan as he stood next to her, a soft blush creeping onto her cheeks, “Welcome back.” She offered a soft smile to him.

Ryann chuckled softly as Logan spoke “If something happens and I break her heart I’d take her side too.” He smiled at his friend, nodding as he spoke about seeing where things go. He patted his friend on the shoulder and offered him a warm smile, “Well regardless of anything I’m always here if you need a chat or anything at all. You’re like a brother to me Logan.” He squeezed his shoulder before laughing and nodding, “I definitely am going to ask for a dance.” He grinned before heading back towards the girls. He gently slipped a hand onto Emily’s waist before offering his other hand to her, “May I have this dance beautiful?” He flashed her a warm smile before dragging her off to dance, moving effortlessly around with her to the sound of the music. As they danced he felt the world around them melt away, the only thing on his mind was the beautiful woman in front of him as they danced.

Emily grinned happily. “Well we will definitely have to have a baby shower then. “ she said cheerfully.
She continued “yes absolutely! I can’t wait for our girls day. I haven’t had one in forever.” She smiled a bit more as she saw Ryann head over and politely said her goodbyes as she was dragged off to the dance floor. Emily blushed wildly when he asked her to dance. She happily wrapped her arms around his neck as she pulled them a little bit closer. “This is nice.”Emily mumbled softly. Her eyes were locked on his as it felt like they were the only ones there. “You know, I could do this all night with you.” Said Emily happily. “How was everything with Logan?I understand why he seems to be smitten with Bella already. I like her a lot too.” Said Emily. She gigged and nuzzled his cheek. “Almost as much as you.” She said sticking out her tongue playfully.


Logan had enjoyed catching up and talking with his friend. He was grateful that he had people like that that he knew would look out for him no matter what. He understood his friend’s concerns and yet he was drawn to Bella. Her smile and laughter was contagious. He made his way over to her and smiled brightly at her greeting. “Why thank you. I see you and Emily must have hit it off. She’s pretty amazing.” He said. He took a step forward and lightly took her hand in his. “Mmm let go dance. I promise it will be fun.” He said as he flashed her a big smile. He led her over to where everyone else was dancing. Logan gently pulled her close and swayed with her to the music.

Arabella blushed and smiled, the thought of doing a baby shower was really nice. As Logan came back over, she smiled warmly at him, “She’s lovely, she’s also convinced me to do a baby shower… which means I need to make a registry I guess.” She laughed sheepishly, as he took her hand in his she felt blush creep across her cheeks. She smiled warmly and nodded, “Okay… I trust you.” As they made their way out to the dance floor and began to sway, she rest her head on his chest. Listening to the music play and feeling the warmth of his skin against hers made everything around them melt away for her. She looked up at him with soft eyes as Bless the Broken Road began to play. She gently smiled up at him, “Can I admit something crazy..?” She asked quietly as they swayed along.

Ryann smiled warmly as they began to dance. He pressed his lips against her forehead gently, “It was good, I just told him to be careful and take things slow. I don’t want him to get wrapped up in something that could hurt him or cause problems. I mean it’s not just her life he’s getting involved in…” He pointed out, “That baby has a father that isn’t him and if that man comes back I don’t know what will happen.” He frowned softly, “Logan’s like my brother I couldn’t stand to see him hurt. The same way he wouldn’t be able to stand seeing you hurt. Although if anything happens he’s not the one I’m worried about. I feel like you’d have me buried 6 feet under before he’d be able to blink.” He chuckled softly and squeezed her hand gently before giving her a gentle twirl, “I’m glad you like her, makes me a little less worried about some mystery man showing up. Because you’re one scary woman when you’re mad.” He teased playfully.
