[grey matter]

"Oh, I see." Laser hummed in a quiet, but not disheartened, tone. "...So. Is what you've got in your hand there interesting?" they asked, motioning to the book Crucible held.

[Imbion]

"Ah, this thing?" He walks back over to the stool and picks up the book, showing the cover. "Records of some historical documents. Particularly on the moonshards. You know, religious organization. Not exactly good, not exactly bad... I need to know some historical context, if I plan to deal with them."

[grey matter]

"Hm... interesting. They did pick a nice name though. Almost sounds like an indie band or something..." They adjusted their goggles again, trying to get a better look at the cover.

[Imbion]

The cover features a symbol of some kind. A collection of glass shards, with two dots below it. Simplistic.

"I suppose they did," he agrees.

"They are an interesting sort. Seem to prefer to stick themselves. Respectable, but unrealistic. It is an issue when someone on the more heroic side is apart of their group."

[grey matter]

"I guess they've got some sort of... shiny aesthetic going on? Or is that just the book?" they inquired, focused on what had sparked a bunch of analysis inside them about the aesthetics of the world around them. It was starting to over-take other thoughts in their head.

[Imbion]

"Correct. A shiny aesthetic is exactly what they have going on for them. Particularly of reflection," Cruicble says respectfully. "They are a lunar religion. The moon creates no light by itself, but rather reflects light from the sun."

He pauses for a second, looking at Laser's book. "Would you tell me a little bit more about your piece? Considering you have had a copy previously."

[grey matter]

"Oh, well, it was Mont Kessel's study of their mother's, well, laser technology and some anecdotes related to them. And it just... enamored me when I was younger. Of course, this was published before Holly Kessel's villainy was exposed after her death by... a beetle turned human. They had some weird stuff going on at that laboratory... but the lasers themselves? Being used for such interesting purposes? That was really cool to me, and I began studying light itself further in my free time... and then it's history from there. I haven't heard any official statements on Mont as of late, though... I have no idea if they're a villain too, but it's possible. And... I am kind of wondering if there's anything that managed to subconsciously inspire my partially newfound villainy in here... just traces and signs, or something." They reminisced at the thoughts of this book and the excitement it brought the younger them.

[Imbion]

"Ah, I see. It is always useful to go back to your roots," he responded. Crucible liked it when people talked about subjects of passion. The way someone lights up about a subject they love was always a wonderful sight. "Children are not always villains like their parents, of course - though they tend to take inspiration in some partial way. The apple does not fall far from the tree."

[grey matter]

"Well, Mont does at least have the whole science thing... from what I've last heard. I should really look into this again, maybe scour the internet for some research documents or something..." They thumbed the pages for a moment, losing themself in a brief thought before snapping back to the present.

[Imbion]

"Ah, I see. The internet is always a good place to search, although not everything exists in a digital format." He looks around for a few brief seconds, then back at them. "Inspiration is always a good thing, although one must avoid becoming a patchwork of different individuals." He lets out a small chuckle. "Mistake of my early career."
