"i'd really like to hear you play, and i'm sure your singing is beautiful." he told her cheerfully. he was quite happy he ran into her, and desperately wished he could just sit here forever. "have you ever read wonder? it was my favorite book as a kid, and here and there i re-read it. it's such a nice story."

her eyes lit up at recognition at that title. "i haven't actually read it yet, but i did purchase it a week or so ago. i never really had the time to read it though because of college and this sorry excuse for a job." brook looked at the clock behind her before letting out an audible groan. "well we should probably be getting to class. hey if you're free we can hang out after class is over?

"of course, i'd love it. i have math with mister kenni now, what about you?" he asked, packing his stuff. he ruffled his hair up quickly, making sure it wasn't looking greasy. he put his phone on mute, and smiled at her. he put one of his backpack straps over his shoulder.

[hayzel]

"me too!" she squealed, standing up from where she was sat. "let me just go and get my backpack from the staff room and we can be off." brook walked away from harper as she headed towards the staff room. the swung the door open and grabbed her backpack from the pegs next to the door. she swung a single strap about her shoulder, letting the sky blue backpack hang from one shoulder. brook stood next to harper, looking up at him. "are you ready?"

he did a small motion as if he was taking off his hat to the lady. "mhm." he nodded. "shall we?" he said sarcastically formal.

she started to laugh at his gesture. "you sound like my father when you speak like that." after her laughter had stopped, she felt a smile plaster its way onto her face. brook left the coffee shop, waiting for harper to leave after her.

he hurried after her quickly, catching up. he decided to start a small conversation as they walked the block to the college. "what are you majoring in?" he asked her casually. he was beginning to have a large liking for the girl, and smiled. she seemed quite nice, and he wondered how she thought of him.

"oh me? i'm majoring in music. acoustic guitar specifically. i'm not hugely intelligent so i decided to choose something i can actually do and enjoy." she explained. "what about you? she asked, returning the question to him.

"i'm majoring in business since i'd like to run my parents restaurant. it's now being run by my uncle since they died, but once i graduate the job will be going to me." he explained, ending with a smile. talking about his parents death didn't really upset him that much. it's very much become numb.

brooks smile faded quickly as he spoke. "oh im so sorry." she muttered. "my parents aren't dead, but they may as well be. two months ago they left one night for 'date night' but they never came back. they never were too fond of me though. i suppose in a way i kind of know what it's like."
