Alex sharply elbowed Ashton in the ribs with an impatient look. "The side door you idiot." The words escaped his lips in a panicked jumble of sounds and he pushed himself away from the frame of the door. In all honesty, he should have been scared to death right then, but he wasn't really experiencing any emotion other than excitement. Almost enjoying himself with the sheer thrill of the situation, he stumbled towards the kitchen, where the side door was located. Upon reaching the door, he jiggled at it for a second before the rusty hinges allowed passageway, the door swinging open violently as wind and rainwater flooded into the house.

• Ashton sighed, calming himself down. He was definately not good in a crisis, as he often overlooked the simple solution and would take an alternate and risky route. If Alexander hadn't reminded him of the side door, then he probably would have grabbed some sort of heavy item and tried to take down the creature.

The backpack filled with food and drinks was heavy on his shoulder, but he was determined to ignore it and keep going. Definately not an optimistic person, Ashton thought about what had just happened in a mere matter of minutes. His parents were dead, this flood thunderstorm could kill them, they had no weaponry, and creatures were out to kill them. Oh, yes, and this could very well be the end of the world. What a lovely day it was turning out to be.

Fighting against the strong push of the bitter wind, Alex painstakingly ventured out the door and into the storm. He advanced forward, struggling as waves of rainwater collided with his body, slowing his seemingly vein attempt to continue forward. Although to him, walking around in a freak thunderstorm where at any moment, lightening could send you to your death, he wasn't quite so sure there was a better alternative option. The monster... things, were waiting back there and had most likely already slaughtered his mother and father. Going back would be suicide, and he valued his life too much to even risk a chance at coming into a near death situation. And to think, the best part of the day had been getting stuck with grocery duty. Which of course, reminded him of something, or someone, else. "Ashton!!! Get the hell outta the house you moron!!!"

• "I'm coming!" He yelled back before heading into the storm. The drops of rain could be compared to needles, and the claps of thunder shook the very Earth that trembled under their feet. Ashton knew that the backpack containing supplies was becoming soaked through - as so was the twenty-one year old himself. Who thought that a normal day could turn into this.

Another flash of lightning illuminated the sky, wrenching Ashton out of his thoughts. Another growl of thunder left him hurrying after Alexander, listening intently for the beasts.

• Reece slowly began concious again as he lay on his back. The ground was hard on his spine, and rain water stung his eyes while streaming down and creating the illusion of tears. He had heard the screams before blacking out. The teenager almost wanted to wish his family was dead, but he was not the type to wish ill fate upon others.

An excited sigh escaped the lips of the 19 year old and he began running faster through the beating, ice cold rain, adrenaline coursing through his veins. He wondered how fast the beasts were, and if they wanted to put up a chase. While to him, it seemed completely insane, he almost wanted the thrill of being chased down by the creatures, death as the grand prize for the loser. Another clap of thunder and the very ground seemed to quake beneath his feet, causing him to lose his footing for several seconds and stumble forward unevenly.

• Ashton ran after his brother, nearly tripping over a rock jutting out of the Earth. He figured that whatever the creature were would be chasing them. After all, they had escaped, when it was obvious that they were to be killed. He never thought the day would come when humanity was destroyed and survivors were left to flee. At least, not in his lifetime.

• Reece stood up, wincing. He had broken some ribs, at least that's what he predicted by the sudden pain that shot through him. His clothes were now muddy, and he wondered how he was ever going to get them clean. The teenager wished that the creature had just finished him off, instead of leaving him alive to suffer.

Alex continued running, half tripping here and there by catching jagged grooves in the earth with the toe of his shoe. The end of the world was coming, at least it looked as though it were. Monsters killing people in their very homes, and the earth quaking simply because of thunder? If it wasn't the end of the world, then he was unsure of what it possibly could be.

Pinpricks of rain stabbed her skin as she strode out into the cold of the thunderstorm, if it could be called something peaceful as that. A wet stench filled her nostrils as though something were rotting but at the same time burning with a fire started by electricity, a malfunction of technology almost.

• He continued to follow his younger brother, already strategizing what to do if this was indeed the end of the world. Ashton wanted to think that it wasn't, that this was just a dream and he would awaken any moment. But the pain and emotions were all too real for this to be a dream. Their parents were dead, and millions of others as well. He didn't have any friends, so he wouldn't have to worry about that. What he did have to worry about was the fact that he took medicine for ADD, or ADHD, whatever you wanted to call it. Ashton suspected that Alexander took the medicine too, but wasn't one hundred percent positive on that.

The twenty-one year old could see lights shining out of a pharmacy's windows as they ran along. Apparantly he was just going to have to deal with his ADHD because if it was truly the end of civilization, then the medication would probably expire and grow nonexistant. Plus, he didn't have any in the backpack.

• The teenager began running, to where he wasn't sure. He just wanted to run, to avoid danger and cheat death. He suddenly felt himself falling as he slipped on a mud patch. Reece hit the ground, asphalt scraping his cheek as he landed right in a water puddle. Now he was muddy, wet, and injured. How nice.

Alexander's dark red brown eyes darted to and fro, scanning every possible object or living thing as he sprinted forward, catching neon lights and flashes of large buildings or people on the ground, lying in muddied and watered down pools of blood. The ground was becoming slicker and harder to run on, his grey converse slipping on the sloshy grass and soil. He could hear the wet footfalls of Ashton running behind him, and wondered what was going through his older brother's mind. For all they knew, they could be running into an infestation of murderous creatures, waiting to tear them limb from limb, and Alexander was pumped, totally and completely ready for it. If that were to happen though, He wasn't quite sure what he would use to defend himself.

• Ashton considered asking Alexander if they could stop at a pharmacy. However, he decided against it. This was no time to take a pit stop for medication. The man could see moving shapes ahead, moving through the dead, mauled bodies of the deceased. some looked to be humans, some appeared to be the creatures, and there were even common housepets throughout the graveyard of the massacred. There would be no one to bury them, no one left to care.

• Reece stood again and cotinued his walking, his breathing heavier now that some of his ribs had broken. He heard a crunching noise beneath his shoes, and looked down. Bile rose in his throat as he saw someone's fingers beneath his sneaker. He had just stepped on someone's fingers. And he had broken them. The teenager stumbled backwards, feeling disgusted and sickened. He wrapped his arms around his stomach in an attempt to hold in his bile.
