    [ I'm so sorry! I can't believe I forgot about this! A few months ago I went on a hiatus, and this slid off the front page of my bookmarks... I just rediscovered it while looking for writing samples. I understand if you don't want to continue, but I'm still up for it if you do. (: Also, I changed my username. So... yeah. ]

((I'm still interested! I sort of assumed that you went on a little hiatus, but it's nice to see that you're back for now! c: I just might need to be refreshed on the plot to remember where we were going with it. I just remember your character has memory loss problems and mine is an injured skin-walker))

[ Okay, I'll do a little recap then. (: Basically what was going on when we stopped was that Seth had found Mahkah, and brought him back to his cabin in the woods. After cleaning his wound and stuff, they fell asleep. Mahkah woke up before Seth in the morning, and is waiting for him to wake up. The way Seth's memory loss works is it happens while he is asleep, and sometimes he remembers part of the previous day, but in rare cases he doesn't remember anything at all. Mahkah is worried that Seth won't remember him. I think our plot was that Mahkah might have some knowledge about how to help Seth, and there will be romance eventually, but first Seth has to find out that Mahkah is a skinwalker and you know... come to terms with that. ]

    Seth Monahan || W hat m emories d oes t omorrow b ring ?

    In his dreams there was only darkness. Since Seth had started to lose his memory, he he hadn't remembered a single dream, and there was no escape for him, even in sleep. The man awoke slowly, confused by how uncomfortable he was. A small movement, eyes still closed, showed him that he was on a wooden floor, partially lying on a cushion. Panic rushed through his mind--he didn't remember how he had gotten there. A million scenarios rushed through his mind, from worrying that he was injured to fearing that he was not even in his cabin. Taking a deep breath he listened, calming himself with the noise of the birds outside so he could try to remember the previous day.

    At first, all he remembered was darkness. With the same method he had been using for years he felt backwards, looking for the end of his memory. The image of a river eventually came to him, from the previous day, he was sure. He remembered a cougar--he had found an injured cougar. In his memory the animal was docile, he could feel in his muscles that the memory of carrying the animal home was true. That was what he had planned anyway, which made him confident that he was indeed in his cabin, and not anywhere else. The biggest question in his mind was whether or not the animal was still there.

    Seth finally opened his eyes, sitting up slowly. Sunlight streamed in through the windows, painting stripes across his body. He groaned as his muscles protested sleeping on the floor, but somehow he had not woken up throughout the night. As if his body knew what his mind could not remember, Seth's eyes were drawn to the fireplace where the cougar from the day before say, washing behind its ears. The animal had a carefully wrapped bandage on its leg, which Seth assumed was his own handiwork. He carefully surveyed the cabin, but nothing appeared to be broken or out of place. In fact, the animal seemed to be as docile as a housecat.

    "Isn't that interesting," he asked himself aloud, and groaned as he got to his feet. His legs and arms burned from the effort of carrying the animal the day before, and even if he couldn't remember doing it, his body didn't want him to forget. Leaning against a doorframe he watched the animal for a few moments, before turning to the kitchen and deciding that he might as well go about his morning routine. He grabbed a bottle of water from the stockpile on the counter and swished some around in his dry mouth before drinking deeply. He then diappeared into the small bedroom to change his clothes, wondering what he was going to do with the day ahead, and how exactly he was going to deal with the wildcat who seemed to have taken up residence in front of his fireplace.

    Speaking aloud--for his own benefit, he assured himself, and not so the cougar could hear--Seth brainstormed, "I definitely don't want to do any hiking today, even though I should. It seems lazy, but maybe I could do some fishing and then fry it up for dinner..."

Mahkah Skinwalker

here's a east ithin ll of

    Mahkah perked up and paused his cleaning as the human stirred, carefully watching with intent eyes as he wait for the outcome, hoping for the human to remember and not have to act more like a housecat that he already was. It came as a relief though that it seemed his savior seemed to remember that he did save the cougar from the foothold trap and a loud purr echoed through the room as he went back to cleaning behind his ears, always keeping one eye on the human as he started to get up and moved around.

    Carefully, Mahkah stood up from where he was sitting in front of the fireplace and limped after the human, staying pretty close to him as he watched what the male was doing. Placing his large paws on the counter, he sniffed at the water bottles before sneezing, looking back up at the human as he drank water from them. Mahkah decided then that he wanted one as well, even though he wasn’t thirsty at the moment, and grabbed one, holding it gently between his canines before pushing off the counter and balancing on three paws. To be honest, he was getting use to limping around already, although it wasn’t as pleasant and he would much rather be a human again, but he was patient and enjoyed staying in the cabin. He figured that if he did turn back into a human right then, his injury would protest against it and he might scare the human into kicking him out.

    With the water bottle still firmly in his maw, the cougar limped after the human and hopped onto the bed in the small room with a bit of difficulty, only slipping out one growl as his injured ankle thumped against the bed. Not wanting to be creepy even though the human didn’t know Mahkah was a human, he turned his attention to the bandages around his ankle and licked at them gently, lapping at the wound while the human changed clothes. That got boring and painful quickly though, so the mountain lion turned his attention back to the water between his paws, gently pawing at it with slight interest before softly chewing on the plastic and rolling onto his back, keeping the bottle between his paws as he worked on destroying the cap without breaking it.

    When he heard the word fish though, Mahkah dropped the bottle onto his stomach and quickly turned his head over to the human, bright eyes looking eagerly over at him while his tail swished lazily in agreement. Picking the water back up and holding it with his mouth, he rolled over and dropped onto the ground, slowly this time so he wouldn’t accidently stand on his injured paw. With the finesse of a fish out of water, Mahkah limped over to the human and purred loudly, eager for the fish he heard about. He bumped his head against the male’s leg, rubbing against like a cat might do before forcing his way between the human’s legs, circling around and rubbing all against his savior with happy purrs just from the mentioning of fish.

    Seth Monahan || W hat m emories d oes t omorrow b ring ?

    Seth tried not to pay attention as the big animal sat on his bed, playing with a water bottle that it had taken from the kitchen. He changed quickly, dressed in clean khaki cargo shorts and a forest green t-shirt. He ran his fingers through his hair before deciding that it probably wasn't worth trying to fix it--he couldn't see himself, and, though the cougar was meticulous with its grooming, he figured that there was no sense in trying to impress the animal. Besides, he was under the impression that his new companion liked him well enough. At the very least, the cougar wasn't considering him for dinner.

    If there had been any doubt that the cougar understood at least some of what Seth was saying, the doubt was erased when he suggested that they go fishing for their dinner. The overeager animal almost knocked him over as it twined around his legs, reminding Seth once again of a house cat. He saw that the cougar was still favoring its injured paw, but seemed to be in much better shape for the meal, care and the night of rest Seth had provided. He figured that they would have no problem venturing to a nearby stream, saving Seth's weary muscles as well.

    "Well, I guess that decides it," he told the cougar. "I'll go get my fishing pole and the tackle box, and we can leave in just a few minutes." Seth was officially over pretending that the animal didn't understand him. At first his solitude had comforted him for the lack of judgement it had offered, but a week alone had made him more lonely than expected; it felt good to talk to the big cat.

    Venturing out into the main room, Seth took his sturdy fishing pole down from the hooks on the wall. His tackle box rested below it, a plastic container filled with various lures and hooks. He regretted the lack of live bait, but the idea of digging for worms definitely did not appeal to him at the time. He hoped their would actually be fish, as he had not had the chance to fish since his arrival to the cabin. At the very least, he would get to relax for the day while still feeling productive.

    It took Seth a moment to find his backpack, having no recollection of where he had left it the evening before, but he located it and quickly restocked it with essentials, including double checking that the first aid kit was restocked from his extra supplies. He did not look forward to more nasty surprises, though he had to admit that finding an injured wild animal had not exactly gone as planned. Still, it was best to be prepared. He carried his supplies to the front porch and began to tie up his hiking boots, groaning as his stiff muscles protested bending down. "Let's go!" he called to the cougar when he was ready.

Mahkah Skinwalker

here's a east ithin ll of

    Mahkah stopped his loving rubs against the human as fishing was their settled activity for the day, only curious on why the human continued to speak to him. The first few times he could understand or when the boy needed to ask him a question, but it was like he was trying to make casual conversation with the cougar. He enjoyed every minute of the words spoken though. Although he might not have understand everything perfectly, just the fact that someone was talking to him and he could attempt to talk back was so different and a good kind of different. Years spent alone in the woods created a little void that Mahkah had been longing to fill with someone to talk to, to listen to, and to just keep company with. Animals were fine and dandy, but they could never bring the comfort as soft spoken words could.

    Quickly though, the large cat caught up to the human when he had left the bedroom, placing light pressure of his ankle to see if he could walk on it yet again. It stung a little bit, but not nearly as bad as yesterday, just sore and throbbing when he would accidently put too much pressure in getting into the main room quicker. When the boy grabbed the supplies, Mahkah inched closer and sniffed at it curiously, sneezing at the scent of plastic and more plastic. He thought fishermen used live bait down here, but he never went around those who weren’t well acquainted with the land and fished in open spaces.

    As Mahkah waited for the human to find his backpack from yesterday, he considered helping him find the pack to move things along a little quicker, eager to go outside now and fish. It was seen by his pacing as the human kept searching for the backpack, so when the cougar nearly gave up on just grabbing the bag for himself, the human finally seemed to find it and the cougar gave a happy chirp before running outside once the door was opened.

    It was nice to be outside again and Mahkah took the luxury of the open space to stretch out his back, claws digging into the wood of the cabin as he scratched and shook out the kinks in his back. Curiously though, he watched the human put on shoes and glanced down at his paws, wondering why most humans wore those things anyways. He never did wear anything on his feet, even when a human, finding them too much of a hassle to tie and bothersome when running. Even though, he was still curious over them and hesitated at first to go near the male now, slyly inching closer to sniff at the boots before licking them.

    Mahkah’s face screwed into a comical one of distaste as he hastily moved away and licked his maw over and over again, trying to get rid of the taste. He’d have to drink plenty of water when they reached the fishing spot just to dull the odd taste away. Pausing to worriedly look at the human when he groaned, the cougar stopped his silly spectacle of rubbing his tongue with the back of his paw to stand up yet again and purr loudly, rubbing along the human one more time before jumping off the porch. A low hiss slipped from him when he landed, but he stayed up and teetered closer to where he thought a river was at, waiting patiently for the human to follow along as well.

    ((I'm really sorry for the wait ^^; Sudden deaths in the family have been keeping me busy
