Journeyman Ferondir of Mira ~ Outside the front gates of the guild ~ Day 7, 1:20-1:41
Shialia
Yami and Ferondir chatted for a bit, discussing the test while the healer bandaged Yami's right arm.
"The fire got you too?" Ferondir asked.
"Yes," Yami said. "It looks like you got a lot more of it though."
The healer spent more time on Ferondir, who had more injuries. They could have healed the wounds by magic, but the guild had outlawed non essential healing magic, and so they only used it to sterilize and seal. The rest was conventional healing.
"You're going to need a new robe, buddy."
Ferondir shrugged. "It happens."
The healer finished his work and moved on to the next apprentice. "You two may go."
Ferondir and Yami left, and entered the arena, where the three judges and their apprentice's were waiting.
Shia wasn't there. Ferondir felt a little stung by that fact, but realized that he hadn't explained to her that she was meant to participate.
"Yami!" Suta somehow quietly shouted. She rushed forward and hugged him quickly.
"Hey," Yami said.
"Where are the others?" Master Oterok asked.
"They're still being bandaged up," Ferondir explained.
Just then the third of four joined them, and a few minutes later, the last joined, looking even more trampled then Ferondir.
The Archmage nodded. "It's time." He took a bag from his shoulder and pulled out prestine blue robes, with gold trim. "Yami, you have proven your worth as a journeyman, here you are." He handed him the new robes.
Yami thanked him.
"And Ferondir, you have proven your worth as a journeyman, here you are." He handed Ferondir a set of blue robes, but the trim was copper colored.
"Thank you, Master." Ferondir bowed stiffly.
He went on to the other two handing the next a blue robe with silver trim, but to the last one in line, he said. "I'm sorry, but you have more to learn."
They clearly had seen this coming. Ferondir didn't judge. He was too busy being relieved that he had passed.
Yami grinned a little, but hid it. He knew, as did Ferondir, that the poor sod was embarrassed enough, having failed.
...
A few minutes later, Ferondir arrived at the front gates, bandaged and wearing his new robes.
"Hey, Shialia." Ferondir said, grinning. "I passed."
