"I'm sure we'll be able to keep it. would you like to get the cat stuff before or after we pick up the kitten?" he asked her, walking outside. he regretted not wearing a jacket, as it was a chilly five o'clock.

brook felt herself shiver slightly as they walked out to the car. wearing a crop top wasn't the best idea she's had. "well it would probably make more sense to pic up the cat first. we don't knot if we can actually keep it yet, so it'd be a waste of money if we weren't allowed. and if we pick it up first they'll probably tell us it's gender, so then we can get it the right collar and stuff."

"right." he agreed confidently. she was a smart girl from what he knew, and maybe even a little sassy. she was quite the girl. he started to drive off, and thankfully the vet was nearby. he jumped out of the car, and hurried over to the door. he held it open for Brooklyn, then followed her in.

brook quickly followed harper inside the warmer building. she felt herself relax as they entered the building, as the building was rather warm. brook stayed near harper as they approached the front desk. brook was hoping the staff weren't as rude as when they came earlier today. it took a lot to keep the comment she made to herself, and if they said something wrong now, she'd probably start full on shouting and arguing with them. "we dropped off a kitten earlier today and we've come to pick it up as you told us to return in a few hours." brook explained, trying to sound as nice as possible despite disliking these people. she felt safe with harper, so she found it a lot easier to talk to people knowing he was around.

harper hated this place, and for the alone reason of that one doctor. he knew he was shouldn't like the place generally, but instead just the one guy, but he did. he had a general dislike of this office. he held brook close, as if he was scared something was going to hurt her. he smiled fakely at the kalon working at the counter, and she did not smile back. she just rang up the doctor. the same, stubby legged, old guy came out holding the same small kitten. the kitten looked cleaner, but he saw a large bandage wrapped around her foreleg, and some small bandages all over. the smaller ones were probably from shots, but the larger one confused him. "the cat broke leg. it recover in months, but you have to give time. she had shots, so she sleeps for a while." the guy told us with his snooty accent. he handed us the cat roughly, and harper held it tight. he handed the cat to brook, and glared at the doctor.

she took hold of the cat, holding her so it was comfortable. brook narrowed her eyes at the rudeness that both of te staff were showing towards them both. she felt herself shudder at the hateful vibe that they seemed to give off. "i understand you hate us, but you get payed to do your job correct? well i advise you buy some manners with that money. considering the way you treat your customers i doubt you'll last long in your job. i'll be sure to leave a complaint." brook snapped, glaring venomously at them. if only looks could kill.. she took a deep breath before smiling at them as if nothing had happened. "thank you, have a great day!" she replied sweetly, and walking out of the building into the cold, the cat hugged tightly to her chest.

harper glared at the man while brooklyn talked. the man just stared at her with slits as pupils. "you customers are so rude." he snorted back at brook. harper wanted to curse at him hardly, but held his breath. he knew it wasn't needed. he quickly payed at the front desk, then followed brook out. "at least the cat seems fine." he paused before saying fine. the cat was not fine. it had a broken leg. he knew the vet wouldn't do that to a cat, but he still blamed him. "here is their paper." he explained to her, showing her the paper. "it says the kitten is a girl, and about two weeks old. we need to feed it from a bottle for about a month, then we can give it real food." he read allowed. he put the paper away, and started driving to the pet store.

brook grinned as he spoke, coming to the realisation that the cat was now theirs. she was quite a pretty cat. a chocolate tabby with amber eyes. brook pet the sleeping kitten, her hand running across her just groomed soft fur. "she's like our daughter." she teased. "i'm so glad we can keep her. we'll take good care of her right? oh! she needs a name though. do you have any suggestions or preferences?" she asked harper, looking over at him.

harper lit up at the idea of them having a daughter. it was a cat, but he would sure spoil it. "we could always look up cat names. maybe truffle because of her chocolate spots?" he suggested.

brook smiled. "truffle is a nice name. she agreed, giving harper a reassuring smile. "we can look at more names when we get back to your apartment if you'd like though." brook got out of the car ad they pulled up at the pet store. it was a bad idea leaving the kitten alone in the car, so she figured she may as well take her in with her.
